Lanie got up and sighed, maybe Lance had gone to find the cookies? Fixing her dress she peered out the door to see where Lance had gone. Slowly and quietly she made her way after him.
Devri was in his room lounging on his bed, he was looking through a pile of random things he'd found in a box from under his bed. There were some of the weirdest objects, things he's collected as a child. Different currencies the humans used, small sculls of animals he'd found, odd little broken trinkets that would never work or be used again. They were all things he'd brought home most time in secret to shove into the box. They were things that would never have use but, he liked them anyways.

Lance stared at the doorway for some time with a small scowl to himself. With a deep sigh and the rolling of his eyes (to himself), he kicked the door open slightly even more and crossed his arms. Lance even took the time to sort all the random crap he brought home into neat little piles in boxes to clean up his messy room. It was nice to see that he was actually looking through some of it after so long. That means he didnt have to throw it all out to make a room just for Lanie. Lance didnt say anything to Devri, but just looked at him, wondering why he even came back in the first place.

At the sound of the door opening Devri looked up and over at Lance. "Sorry. If you're hear to yell at me for going near that little girl of yours I didn't do anything inappropriate.." He held up and examined a skull that looked like it was from a bird, he looked it right in the eyes. "It's odd but it's kinda nice to see that scowling face of yours again brother."
Lanie hid a bit away, quietly watching and listen to what was going on. She could see the skull in Devri's hand and it made her shudder a bit, she'd never seen a real skull. She didn't even take notice of the one Akita had on display in her room, the one which she used to wear on her head as a 'fashion statement' she'd always said.

Lance still had his arms crossed and looked straight ahead towards Devri, which he disliked doing, but his thoughts were so filled with rage that he completely ignored what Devri said. "So, am I still a loner to you? What are you even doing here if you're not here to pester me until one of us ends up with a bloody nose?" Lance hardly noticed Lanie eavesdropping at all, seeing as how he was intently focused on Devri and the skull. But mostly Devri. "I still, very clearly, remember what you did to my face. I think of it, and every time, I feel the burning pain of the mark you permanently left behind and cursed me with." Lance growled. It seemed as if he were the one interrogating this time. But he just shrugged it off with a shrug. "SO... You decided to stop by?"

Devri set the skull down and sit up. "I've come here meaning no harm. I wanted to see mother, but she got dad to let me stay. So. If you want to ignore me go ahead.. You're more than welcome to pretend I don't exist." He ran a finger across the scar on his nose. It was nothing compared to the three marks on Lance's face though.
Lanie continued to listen. Stepping out and slowly slinking over to cling to Lance's leg. She stayed quiet though.
Devri nodded towards Lanie, "Why keep her?"

"You existed in my childhood, but now you're just a dark shadow that I have become to hate." Lance shook his head and sighed again, taking in a deeper breath just to make sure he could still breathe from thinking he couldnt breathe. He knew that came out darker than it sounded in his head. Actually...that wasnt true, it sounded much darker in his head than he said it. "Sorry. You've scarred me. Mentally speaking this time." This was all before Lanie decided to cling to his leg, but when she did, it startled Lance, though he only jumped a little bit before he looked down to see who it was. Then he looked back at Devri. "I dont need to find a mate, which is what you seemed to be ever so obsessed with me finding. Unless you were just mocking me. I dont need a child...Because I love her."

"I'm sorry to hear that is how you think of me..." As much as Devri knew of all the hate between the two of them his mind always went back to the night the two of them spent together, acting with one another as brothers should. No fighting, no bickering. Just the two of them curled up together in an almost blissful state. Sometimes he wondered what had happened to cause such a drastic change. Lanie still didn't talk. It was a combination of not wanting to intrude further and not knowing what to say. "Hey. A mate can be pretty nice.. I love nothing more than the time I spend with Kurai. She makes me happy.. I feel at piece with myself when I'm with her. The two of us don't want kids yet though." He closed his eyes for a moment and sighed softly. "What are you going to do with her when she gets older? Send her off? Or do you intend to keep her here with you?"

Lance was actually...a bit surprised at Devri. He at least expected some of his smart a** backtalk to his little comment about Lanie. But now, he didnt know what to think. Was it just because he hasnt been here for a while or did he really miss...that one night? That same night haunted Lance's thoughts even now, at night before bed time. Well, Devri was still mean before that, but it was just that one night that he wished would come back. Lance's eyes well up a little bit, but he hides it by looking down at the ground a little bit, remembering Lanie was down there, and just turned his head away to avoid any other eye contact. "I dont want to think about it. Lanie will do what she decides." The same kind of thing happened with Zeki. She went off with her own life, and again, Lance fell into loneliness. He hated thinking about what would happen with Lanie when she grew up or if her parents came by to take her back. "I dont know..."

Lanie's ears drooped once again as she cuddled against Lance's leg. She had taken to staring the ground but could feel Devri watching her. "Hey kid. You like it here with Lance right?" He questioned her. She simply responded in reply to the question. "Do you.. want to stay here with him?" Lanie lifted her head and peeked up at Devri. "Mister Lance always seems so sad.. I... I want to see him smile..." She gave a small flick of her tail, going silent for a moment before continuing to speak, "If staying here with Mister Lance would make him even a little bit happier I would.. I would stay here as long as Mister Lance wanted me to.." Devri simply gave her a soft smile, "You're a sweet kid it seems."

Despite Lanie's response, Lance didnt seem happier in the slightest. She was still young, and had a long way to go to change her mind. "You dont have to confine yourself here just to see me happy." Lance couldnt help but think about the future, which he never had high hopes about to begin with. He was about to say something else when he caught sight of Lanie down below still near his leg. It nearly made his heart burst. "I want you to stay with me." The pressure was getting too difficult for Lance to handle; nostalgia and all, he decided to leave the room. "... ...Cookies." The conversation with Devri really wasnt what he was expecting. He half expected to pull out a cookie cutter knife and jam it into his forehead, but he felt bad for expecting it now. It was cookie making time.

Lanie frowned a bit, "I know I don't but.." She looked away from Lance, "I WILL stay with you.." Before she could look back at Lance he'd walked off leaving the room saying something about cookies. "Mister Lance hold on!" She was curious now as to what was going on between the two brothers, of course she had no intention of questioning them, it might get her into trouble.
"Aww he made her cookies~? I think that is bribery brother." Devri finally broke his little 'nice' spree and had to slip in a smart a** comment. He meant no harm but, it was part of him. What was Devri without being an obnoxious b*****d in the end?

It was a gorgeous day. Lucus had moved to the sun room to work instead of keeping myself locked in his study. Ooy was seated not to far off taking a small nap before she headed off to prepare food for Lucus and any others who wanted it. Lucus yawned not really taking any amusement in the current bit of work, he had to go over things for small upgrades and new decor for the manor. Some things had gotten to old for his taste. Though, looking into changes seemed to take a lot of effort.
While most were inside, Lanie was out in the garden, one of her favourite places in the manor. She was sitting out on the gazebo in the shade with her sketchbook in hand, letting whatever ideas she had flow from her mind, to the pencil and onto the paper on the book. Colour would come later, the box of brilliantly coloured pencils and crayons lay beside her.
Elsewhere, Akita had taken Diedrick for a bath, he'd decided it'd be a good idea to paint himself instead of the paper when she offered them the chance to be a bit artistic.

While Lucus sat, almost looking relaxed in the sunroom, Vempyremon made her way to go see him. She waited for Ooy to walk past before she made her way in, but stopping her shyly before Ooy managed to walk away. "Oh, if you're going into the kitchen, I dont think there's much for you to do there. Lance beat you to it. So, there's food in there for you if you want it..." With that settled, or nearly settled, Vempyremon inched her way towards Lucus, keeping her hands clasped together around in front of her body. From afar, she stopped and watched to spy on what he was doing. She wanted to announce that Lance had made some lunch for everyone, but didnt want to disturb his work.
And while everyone WAS inside, Lanie wasnt the only one that was outside. Lance was spying on Lanie from afar, just as his mother was doing with Lucus. Kind of an unintentional mirror move, possibly passed down through genes or something of the sort that Lance could explain better if it piqued his interest enough. Lance just stood to the side, shadowing a small hedge with his dark figure. He didnt like being outside, but the garden was an exception because it wasnt exactly in 'public'.
Kain, as well, had a bit of paint of him from when Diedrick decided to make himself look pretty, but there was plenty of time to wash up afterwards. Right now, he had the perfect chance to try and teach Wolfram and Alric a bit of German with some training cards that Abel so graciously donated to them. Both paid attention intently, but mostly because Kain offered a piece of chocolate for whoever said a word correctly. Regarding the paint, he had it smeared on the side of his face in the shape of a tiny hand print, and several, already dried, marks on his hands.

Ooy gave Vempyremon a somewhat surprised look when she was told that Lance had beat her to cooking. "Oh.. I'll have to thank Mister Lance later on today then.." She gave Vempyremon a small bow before heading off.
Lucus looked up from his 'work', his ears had caught the sound of their voices since the room was large and echoed some when it was empty of people, even if you were trying to be quiet. "Ah! Vempyremon love! I need your help. I apparently lack all sense of decorating at the moment and this must be done as quickly as possible so that it can be send off and the proper goods may be ordered and delivered in good time." He held up the papers and a small book that looked like a catalog of sorts. "I am looking up things to attempt to give the manor a somewhat different feel to it."
Lanie gave a small and somewhat childish yawn after a few moments of very focused drawing. Brushing a few bits of eraser off the page she held up the book to examine it. The current piece she was working on seemed like a gothic coat with a long trailing feel, though some aspect of it was playful and different. "It's marvelous!" She chimed brightly as she stared at it for a little while, taking it in to see if any changes were needed.
Once Diedrick was all clean Akita toted him over to the others, a wet cloth in hand which she used to try to wipe the paint of Kain's face. "I don't think I've ever seen you this colourful." She laughed a bit, setting Diedrick down. "A treat seems like an interesting way to keep them focused. Just make sure you don't give them too much. They'll end up with an upset stomach."

After Ooy made her leave, Vempyremon's ears twitched in the sound of Lucus's voice before her own head turned to meet his. She seems taken aback by his sudden thrilled-sounding attitude and almost didnt know what to say exactly at this point in time. "Oh, uhm...What makes you think that I have the right kind of taste to be responsible enough to choose the new layout?" Slowly as she walked in, she moved over towards where Lucus was sitting to get a better view of what he was working on, wondering why he just couldnt pick out the better of the list just to get it over with. "After all, my taste is much different from yours. Here..." Where ever there was a free spot, Vempyremon sat down and took the catalog to start circling a few things with a marker, or something that was near. She had her head lowered to the table like an artist getting into action.
Lance's ears perked up a little bit at the sudden noise. He was hardly expecting a word from Lanie before she noticed him standing there. What she was working, though, interested him. He made soft steps on the ground to scoot closer, hands behind his back to seem so nonchalant. Once he got close enough, he could see the designs of what looked to be a coat. By now, he was hovering over Lanie's shoulder without a sound. He examined it... "Maybe you should add more buttons." Lance spoke kind of loudly and suddenly, but only giving critique about the drawing to maybe give Lanie more ideas.
The cloth felt cold, but Kain hardly moved and kept his focus on the two kids as they were on him as he held up a card that read "Der Hund", showing a picture of a dog. Of course, he had to start out simple. "Dont vorry. Zhey havent even gotten one word right yet." One of the blocks of a Hershey's chocolate bar already disappeared as Kain stuffed it in his mouth. As everyone should have known by now, he had a sweet tooth, and holding a whole bar of chocolate was extremely tempting to him. Alric and Wolfram still had their attention on him until there was a sudden knock on the door. It made Wolfram fall over on his face and Alric start making barking noises like a dog.
