Yuki whispered a small prayer for the old man, then stood. She could bury his body later; right now, she had to get to Irene. Hlding one arrow to her quiver, she ran back into the forest, darting past trees and paths, remembering the way perfectly.
Skidding to a halt in the clearing, she saw that things had changed. Something was wrong with Bana, Niko was standing next to Mariah with an anxoius look on his face, and Irene was on her knees. "What in the world..." She ran to Irene, kneeling beside her. "I'm sorry, Irene," She said quietly, only for Irene to hear. "He told me to tell you to destroy your necklace... That he has something better in his room for you. He said that you would know where."
Niko looked over at Yuki when she came, then back at Mariah. He gripped his energy staff tightly, unsure what to do. Mariah could control Irene with that necklace, and destroy both it and her. What was he supposed to do?

Irene looked up in shock. "The locked drawer..." Only Yuki could hear her, but she quickly screamed to Niko. "Niko! Don't worry about the necklace! Just fight her!" Irene slowly tried to get up. "Trust me Niko, I have a plan!"
Mariah laughed again. "What, to sacrifice yourself for your friends?! The question is, would your frieds allow you to die!"
For the first time in this fight, Irene smiled. "Mariah, you don't know the first thing about real sacrifice! When you go that extra mile, when you give something of importance to you up for something even more important, THAT's sacrifice. You, you just kill others to gain things!"
Irene looked over at Yuki. "Yuki, could you get Bana to the old man's house? The farther away she is from Mariah the weaker the evil hold on her becomes. But you might have to force her, she might resist. I'll meet up with you later and we can all go see what the old man has for me." Irene didn't get at that time that the old man was dead. She thought they conquered the bandits and he was waiting for her.

Bana looked at Yuki with her blank eyes. 'Oh, Miss Yukis back...where did she go earlier? Who knows, none of my business anyway.' Bana yawned and put the bracelet back on. 'Oh...was I supposed to be doing something? Ohwell I'm getting tired of thinking. Its to much trying to keep up with all of them.' Bana rubbed an eye giving up on paying attention to what Irene and Mariah were arguing about.

Irene took a deep breath, and with all her strength charged for Mariah. Mariah was caught off guard and tried a fireball attack, but her powers were now gone from the cursed necklace earlier. She tried to control Irene, but Irene was so out of energy no spell could be cast. Mariah realised she didn't have her sword either. She needed to be unarmed to trick Bana.
"Once that necklace is destroyed, we can finally be done with this!" Irene screamed at Mariah. Mariah clutched the necklace into her fist, and swung at Irene.

Yuki nodded slightly, looking down at Bana. What had Mariah done to her? "Come on Bana, let's go," She said, placing her hand on the childs shoulder and trying to gently steer her away from the fighting. She'd drag her if she had to, but she wanted to see if Bana would listen to her first.
Niko was surprised by Irenes words. Destroy the necklace? That could kill her! But he had to believe in her words, had to do something. noticing as Mariah became distracted by Irene, he took the opportunity given to swing his staff up and bring it down full-force on the back of Mariahs head.

Mariah was hit, and she stopped with a surprised expression. Mariah then fell unconcious." Irene smiled weakly, and laughed a bit. "Good hit Niko. This has to be the first time I've been able to get a step ahead of her." Irene bent over to get the necklace, and stood up with it in her hand. Then she held it out to Niko. "It's rule I can't break my own necklace. It's impossible for me to do so. Will you do it?" Irene was so very weak, but she was happy all of this was almost over for now.

Niko looked up at Irene, carefully taking the necklace from her. "Are you sure you'll be alright?" He asked. "Shouldn't we go back to the old mans house before breaking it?" He didn't want her to be hurt, and breaking this could kill her. He looked from the necklace to her, worry in his eyes.

Irene laughed weakly. "It's better to do it as soon as possible. If Mariah's bandits came unexpeced, or if Mariah woke up, then what would we do? Besides, I'm too weak to do any of my magic." Irene paused for a second. "Hey Niko, thanks for coming to my rescue. No one's ever done that before."

He blinked, then gave a shaky smile. "No problem. I'll always help, whenver you're in trouble." He drew in a small breath. "Well, here goes nothing..." White light gathered in the hand that held the necklace. A crack appeared, then it shattered into many fragments, falling to the ground.

Irene blushed at what Niko said. 'It's that strange feeling again, why is it there?' When Irene didn't feel any different when the necklace shattered, it confused her. 'Is it this feeling? Is that why I'm still in control? Maybe Yuki would know.' She then smiled at him. "Well, we should go then. Bana's still in control of that charm and we have to find an alternate way to destroy it's effect." Irene started a few steps to Merlin's house.

He walked beside her. "Are you sure you're alright?" He asked, placing his hand on her arm in cause she suddenly fell. He watched her as they walked, wanting to help her as best as he could. Irene was one of the few people who had been kind to him in his life, he felt indebted to her, and felt that he could look after her no matter what.

Irene blushed when she felt his touch. "Actually, I think I'm better than I ever had been. It's weird, I've been having this feeling... And I swear I've never felt it before in my life. I just wish I knew what it was and why it makes me so happy when I feel it."

"A feeling?" He had no clue what she meant, what that feeling was. "Try asking Yuki later? She might know." He noticed her blush. "Irene, you're red. Are you sure you're alright?"

((Yes, oblivious people are so cute. Dangerous when they're alone too. xd ))
Irene blushed a bit more. "Am I? I don't know what's causing it... But it's making my heart race. I hope Yuki knows what it is." They were nearby now, just out of sight. Niko just made her so happy, and whatever this feeling was a big part of it came from being near him.
