I'm posting this here because, as I told Ivy last night, I don't believe in going through third-parties and don't know who, specifically, to address.

If you have a question about my characters, ask me. I don't bite. I've said this before, in chats, in private conversations. I won't bite even if the question's along the lines of "Do you know how Rachel is presenting herself? Is Dream doing this intentionally?" That's the question one of you (or several) prompted Ivy ask me last night.

Yes, I do know. Rachel was designed to be a certain type of character. When she got put into the position of President, I decided to veer off from her original character design somewhat.

As I said, I don't believe in going to third-parties, even GMs. Especially GMs. To my mind, you don't go to the GM unless there is a problem that can't be solved by working with the other players directly. By going through Ivy, whoever asked these questions are saying, "There's a problem with Rachel. Ask Dream to fix her."

That may not have been your intent, it may not have been what you meant, but that's what came across.

That attitude is horribly unfair, and uncalled for. Especially considering the timing -- I've been more active in the game in the last couple months than I have been in the last four years since it started. Whatever problems I may have with other players' characters, I don't ask those players to change their characters on a core level to suit me.

You don't have to like Rachel or any of my other characters. Your characters don't have to like Rachel, or any of my other characters. That's fine. I have days when I think they're brilliant and everyone should adore them, but I know I'm full of s**t when I do.

All I want is be treated as I have asked to be treated: talk to me first. I don't bite.

I don't like the feeling of having to second-guess everyone's motives when they approach me about an interaction with Rachel, or Cori, or whomever: will I have to tailor how they react or face another "People were wondering..." exchange from Ivy at some point down the road?

Unfortunately, that's where I'm at right now.
