			            Vermillion shook his head; "Have you learned nothing in all this time, dragons can be very stubborn...." Vermillion picked her up and carried her back inside to sit her down in the living room on a couch. "Especially when someone they love is in danger. Stay here..." Vermillion ran upstairs and into Anabel's room, he picked out the warmest clothes he could find that would go over her existing clothes. He brought them downstairs; 'Alright, put those on over your clothes, you'll need them for the trip to stay warm, and I'll get your coat. If Sorrow can't bring him to us, then we will go to him, because I will not leave you when there is a chance to save your life."

			            Anabel set the clothes down and rose from her seat with her head down, "I'm not going..."
 she walked into the kitchen and began to prepare a large breakfast of mainly meat and began packing it in her picnic basket, "The only one leaving is you, because no matter how stubborn you are... It's my death and I don't want you to be here for it, because it will only make it harder on you."

 After she finished frying one thick slice of ham she would cut another and throw it on the skillet. the process continued until she had cooked the entire ten pound chunk and placed it in a wooden container, then into the basket.

 She fried up another ten pounds of bacon and two dozen eggs, scrambled, and placed them in there as well. when it was good and full she hoisted it off the counter and over to the table, where she took a few more deep breaths and hauled it over to Vermillion, "I have enjoyed your company over the months, but I am afraid you must leave now... I hope this will be enough to get you to your mountain home." Anabel placed the basket in his hand and kissed his cheek softly, "Goodbye Vermillion."

			            Vermillion stood up straight looking down at Anabel; "You're a fool to think by sending me away it will make your death any more easier to bear then if i sat right beside you." Vermillion took the basket and transferred it to his other hand; "I'm coming back to save you're life, even if I have to sacrifice my own in the process, because you're worth it even if you don't think so." Vermillion turned to head towards the door and paused; "Its a 9 hour flight to Arias if the wind is against me, shorter if i have a tail wind, So unless you plan on dying in the next 24 hours. We will see see each other once more." Vermillion opened the front door and stepped outside, he pulled the door closed behind him and walked out to the gate and closed it behind him before setting down to lean against the pillar post and begin to eat some of what she prepared for him to take.

			            Anabel blushed from a slight flash of rage and hit the wall. the recoil shot up her arm and she shook it cursing under her breath. Tears streamed from her face. she bit her lower lip to keep from screaming, and walked outside to get some fresh air and clear her head.
 she began pacing behind her house as she watched the frost melt below her bare feet. It wasn't until a brisk breeze blew by that she realized her hand was bleeding. Taking a deep breath she turned to walk inside to find a man standing in the doorway.

 "Can I..... Help you?"

 He was a tall young man, long dark brown hair concealed his eyes, but just revealing his glittering blood stained smile.

 Anabel stepped back, her heart beat racing, "Sir.... Are you-"

 The man charged for her without warning.

 Anabel screamed and ducked into a ball, praying for a miracle. After a few seconds, and no impact felt, she opened her eyes to find A familiar figure to one side of her, and the blood thirsty man to the other.

 "Vaine?!"

 The man had his arms locked behind his back by Vaine, whom looked at Anabel and smiled, "Where's your dragon friend?"

 "...On the curb..." she grumbled under her breath.

 Vaine pouted slightly, "Awwww, Didn't like him anymore?"

 "No!" she shouted while rising to her feet, "It's almost winter, Vaine... I don't want him to stay here and watch me die."

 Vaine held the boy's hands with one of his own and brushed the side of Anabel's pale face, "My dear... I have the utmost confidence you will live to see spring's thaw."

 Anabel tried to look down, but was quickly made to look at Vaine again.

 "And this boy may be able to help you!" He chuckled while releasing, and throwing the distressed vampire to the ground, "Do you have some of that bloodwine you always give to me?"

 "I-I was making more... I have maybe half a bottle ready."

 "That'll do."

 Anabel retreated to the house to retrieve the bottle of bloodwine, while Vaine talked with this rogue vamp.

 "Boyo... you almost got yourself killed."

 Kaosti brushed himself off and stood up, "God damnit Vaine! I NEED blood! NEED IT!" he roared as the tears streamed from his face, "My body has already forced me on two people... I was barely able to pull away..."

 Vaine took the boy in his arms, "Easy son... She's bringing you some wine now... drink it and it will calm your nerves."

 Anabel returned with the wine and handed it to Vaine, "Is.... He going to be okay?"

 Vaine uncorked the bottle and handed it to Kaosti, who slammed the bottle in a few long gulps barely taking time to taste it.

 "He'll be fine now... Thanks to you."

 (I'll give you a bit of time to throw vermillion in here if need be... ?)

			            Vermillion's large head pulled back from the side of the house a snort of smoke puffed down the street in two small torrents before rising up and dissipating. Vermillion did his best to keep his voice down, but as a dragon keeping his voice down was still just below a shout in volume "Vaine, the information Kartane left with me is under my bed upstairs, if this boy can help her as you say. He will need the information." There was scraping of claws on the street, Vermillion's long tail swept into view briefly before a growl and the yelping of a dog running away. A few moments later the tail was back this time the basket hanging on the tip. He set it down just over the wall, and with a little shake it tumbled over the other containers rattling inside as vermillion withdrew his tail back around out of sight.

			            Anabel went after the documents that Vermillion was talking about while Vaine and Kaosti discussed their plan of action for helping Anabel.
 After Kaosti examined the documents, and drank a bit more bloodwine, and sighed, "This stuff is way over my head..." he paused so see the sad expression on the dragons face and nodded, "But, I can get Kaos here now. And knowing Grandpa... He can start on whatever preparations he needs to make to help Anabel."

 Handing the documents to Vaine, Kaosti drew his godfather's rapier and began carving an elaborate spell circle into the ground.

 ~a couple hours later.~

 Kaosti wiped the sweat from his brow and sheathed his Vaine's sword, "... You might want to sharpen that...."

 Vaine snarled and unsheathed it enough to cut his wrist, "You'll need to drink.... Kaos will personally teleport to his island and beat you if he knew how weak you are..."

 Kaosti smiled weakly and did as instructed, drinking to his full, and watching as Vaine dropped to one knee.

 "Damn...." he huffed as he healed the cut on his wrist, "... Don't be such a pushover next time you start getting weak."

 Kaosti nodded and stepped in the portal. After dropping a bit of blood into the center of the circle, it began glowing a bright red color and the very center, where Kaosti was standing turned white.

			            As soon as the other portal was filled in Arias, the white light shot up into the sky and disappeared, But another quickly replaced it and came crashing to the ground, where it hit Kaosti, and a barrier covering the ground.
 as the red spell circle began disappearing the white light absorbed into Kaosti. Taking a deep breath he let out a sigh and began struggling to his feet like a new born fawn, "Hells fire, Why is this child so weak? Vaine, Help me up."

 Vaine wobbled over to Kaosti and using each others support they managed to get to their feet. "How many times have we relied on each other to stand?"

 Kaos laughed, "Too many to count, old friend... So why is it that I've been summoned here?" he asked weary from his travel.

			            Vermillion left town heading out towards the river, and didn't stop till he rounded a bend in the river where a fallen tree in the river made a nice deep pool and a slow current perfect for what Vermillion had intended to do the day they came out here.
 He sat down on the mossy bank and leaned against the tree looking at the rope wiggle in the soft current. "I was an idiot for wasting my time here, foolish dreams at the sight of smile."

 Vermillion reached into his pocket and pulled out a small box, and he opened it to pull out the ring he had started on. The band itself had small etchings in it, each letter taking over an hour to complete to his liking. He began taking the tiny pieces out of the box and loose fitting them on the band. The fragile polished gold wings of the butterfly, it was so perfect, but the dead don't need such things.

 Anabel's words from that morning repeated in his head, and he closed his fist and his eyes, his fist getting tighter and tighter his fist shaking with the effort to crush every aspect of the woman out of his life. He wanted to kill the very memory of her, and just move on. he relaxed his hand to wipe his eyes, he opened his other hand and the once good looking ring was now warped, the wings crushed and torn, the tiny sapphires were missing now, and he just flicked it to lay beside the bank. He got up and made his trek for the larger clearing, he was going back to the mountain, after all no one came there but once in awhile, which was fine by him, because Vermillion made up his mind. If he was going to hurt, so would those who caused it, he was going to make another attempt at the 2 breath death enchantment, no medicine in the known lands works fast enough to stop it, and it would break his word to his former teacher. Vermillion didn't care at this point, it is not like anyone cared what he did anymore.

			            Kaos took the documents from Vaine and turned looked them over, "I will be taking these documents to the Academy and studying on a way to break this in My private study... I will inform you if i come up with a breakthrough in my research."
 He exited the yard and as he began walking down the street, a small little tavern caught his eye and a warm smile brightened his face. 'Ive's Tavern.... I haven't been here in ages...' Slipping the documents in a satchel he had recently summoned he entered through the front doors and took a seat at the end bar stool.

 "It's been a while since that seat was occupied..." Ive chuckled as she continued cleaning mugs, "We're gonna be closing up soon sweetheart, but since i think i know you.... I'll pour you one."

 She laid the mug out and when the gentleman replied that he wanted a particular herbal tea.... Ive's heart skipped a beat, "W-well.... You're a little more like your grandfather than I thought... But if that's what you want..." Ive couldn't keep her body from shaking as she walked through the kitchen doors.

 The kitchen crew rushed to her side, seeing she was obviously shaken by some sort of event, but they were gently pushed away as Ive made her way over to the teapot that resembled the one Kaos kept in his own home, filled it with water, and set it out on the range.

 "I'll be filling this order tonight boys... go ahead and continue cleaning around me."

 the kitchen crew returned to their tasks and when Ive finished boiling the water and brought it out on a tray only a note with a small leather pouch was left at the end of the bar where the man once sat.

 She set the tray down and went over to the paper which read: 'It's been a while love. I see my presence still shakes you, so i figured a bit of tea would be good for you, However i knew you wouldn't make it unless i ordered it so i left it for you. Don't worry. I would never skip out on a tab so the money is in the leather pouch, as well as some other small things you may or may not want to see.... But if you want your money you're going to have to look... Through all of them. She's truly beautiful, our daughter... I'll be seeing you around.'

 The late night tavern goers stood in awe as Ive began crying. she dropped the note, attempted to pour herself some tea, but ended up only getting the cup half full. she took a spoonful of the herbs and placed them in a small cloth teabag and placed it in the water as she moved around the bar and sat in his seat.

 So many memories she wasn't ready to face lie in a small leather sack in front of her. "Onora.... Come open this for me..... I can't..." she broke into soft hysteric sobs and covered her mouth to silence herself.

 Onora came from waiting on people and around the bar to face Ive. She mopped up the spilled hot water, filled the tea cup the rest of the way, and as she was about to add the sugar, Ive cut her off with a small hand jester, "Please... Just open it."

 Grasping the top of the small pouch, Onora undid the loose leather knot and loosened the stitching to find it completely empty. She showed it to Ive and sighed, "There's nothing in it sweetheart... Relax."

 Ive's eyes opened wide and the tears fell in heavy streams, "No... there's a spell so only i can see it." she stole the pouch from onora's hands and set it down in front of her.

 As Ive's trembling pale hands reached out for the tea, Onora beat her to it and held it to her lips, "You'd spill all over yourself if i let you take this... C'mon, We'll get through this together."

 Ive smiled and sipped a bit of the tea. Onora grabbed one of the stools from behind the bar and stood up on it, "Alright gentleman the bar's closing early, Get the hell out. If you have a room get to it now, We're closing down the dining room till tomorrow morning."

 a majority of the men shuffled out the door while a few made their way upstairs to their rooms and settled in for the night.

 Onora closed off the stairs and locked the front door, "Alright love. What's inside."

 Looking back at the pouch she pulled out the first bit of folded paper and slowly unfolded it to reveal a child's crayon of a tall woman with long blonde hair, a man with dark blue hair, and two little girls, one with blue hair and one with blonde. there was a rainbow over the four of them and flowers all around their feet.

 Ive covered her mouth to hide a smile, "These.... are from... Ailes."

 "Ailes?" Onora asked, "Her?" she indicated to the small wooden picture frame hanging on the corner of one of the cabinets.

 Ive nodded and set it on the bar for Onora to see, as she pulled the next one from the pouch. It was a letter. The writing was barely legible and incredibly large, crooked, and slanting across the page which read: 'Dear mommy, I am Ailes Lorene Ikenie and I am almost four years old! I hope I can see you soon. I love you!'

 The rest were photographs some were of random scenes sketched in pencil with a smudge seal put on the back and Ailes name was signed in the corner. others were family photos of Ailes Akuma and Kaos outside of the small little shack they live in.

 there was one for every year, but Kaos was different in almost every picture. He's been aging fast throughout the years. Psychics are supposed to be the slowest aging demon but... Its frightening how much older he looks from image to image.

 Ive reached into the pouch and grabbed out the last piece of paper. another note with Ive's name written in cursive on the top. she held her breath as she pulled the note open and found two other pages that fell out. putting them back in order according to the page numbers in the top corner, she found a 5 page note written to her from her daughter recently.

 It explained her life, how her father has been a good father, and her sister picking up the roll of a mother, how she wishes to meet her mother soon, and how she has a boyfriend who's a dragon. His name is Toole Bebus, and she thinks they're going to get married one day. She talked about the struggles in her life and the fun little triumphs she gained from growing or making potions.

 Ive read through the note a good four times and wiped the tears from her eyes; Her daughter still loved her. They had never met, Never touched, And yet her daughter still held her in her heart.

 A soft chime noise came from the pouch as another spell broke and the pouch filled with gold coins.

 Ive smiled and set the coins up on the cabinet next to Ailes picture. She gathered up the sketches, photographs and notes from her daughter and placed them in a small wooden box that she kept up by her daughter's photo as well.

 Onora walked around the bar and held Ive in her arms, "So, Do you think you'll ever work up the courage to visit your daughter?"

 "...... Maybe." Ive sobbed as she took her friend in a gentle embrace, "I still... don't know though.... I swore I wouldn't bring her into my life... But...."

 Onora nodded, "C'mon. Let's finish up this tea and get you in bed."

 Ive nodded and finished the cold tea and shuffled down the employee's corridor to her room and retired for the night.

 ~~~~~~~~~~At the Academy~~~~~~~~~~
 Kaos held out his hand in the academy yard and a flash of white light burst into glistening sparks as they fell to the ground. fragments of a broken promise ring levitated in his hand; a set of fragile butterfly wings, sapphires, and a mangled band.
 Displeased with the sight he vanished the pieces and walked up to he academy doors. Barely taking the time to knock, Kaos let himself in , forgetting he was in his grandson's body, but in the back of his mind knowing that with the skill of the people going to school here... they should be able to sense who he is.
 Without much of a problem Kaos made it to his study at the top on the east tower. he flung the velvet curtains open to reveal his well kept, but very dusty study. Almost everything was in it's original place, except a few books, which were sitting on his table and a wrinkled spot where he's assuming someone sat down while reading.
 Sighing he opened the windows and increased the speed of the small gusts blowing through the window, after he had a minor whirlwind built up in his study he redirected it out the window and watched as a brownish cloud of dust exploded in the courtyard. giggling at the mischief he had already done he turned back to his study.
 Pleased to see that no paperwork was missing he laid out the documents, placed them under paperweights and re summoned the broken promise ring. "It would appear I have another stop to make before I go to sleep..."
 ~~~~~~~~ In the mountains ~~~~~~~~

 Kaos strolled into Vermillion's mountain home the ring still floating in pieces just above his palm. "You get the brilliant idea of getting my father involved in this... Send the one woman I could see myself being with in the future to inflict the maximum amount of emotional damage on me to get what you want, even take the time out of your own damned day to come and tell me that she needs help, yet you, ever so childishly, destroy a ring of such skill, because life happened?"

			            Vermillion waited until Kaos finished then proceeded to correct him on a few things. "First of all you knock before coming in here, secondly it was Kartane who suggested using that form, and it was Sorrow who consciously choose to use it, so don't you dare hold that over my head. Choices by people who have the smarts to know better, I involved your father because like you he has the smarts to read people and offered to help, and as far as the ring goes.." Vermillion slid a box to the end of the table. "There is the completed form, but wi

			            Kaos vanished the ring and slipped his hands into his trouser pockets, "Sorrow and my father are irrelevant to the point... They were merely in the story. When I am here to help you I should not have to knock because I could die at any second. The only reason I am still standing is because I am ticking away days of my life to keep my energy flowing."
 He ran a hand through his thick brown hair and sighed, "Do you care about her? if so how much, and would you be make any stake, even if it is another persons life? That is what I need to know before I begin researching."

			            Vermillion swung up out of his chair; "Master Kaos, I not about to debate the specifics of my personal life, i do love her, getting the list of people involved, staying with her, the whole mess tells you that without me having to admit it to you just now. You already know the answers to the questions you ask, the answer you want is why I threw it all aside and came back here."
 Vermillion walked to a cabinet that lined the room, and pulling out two glasses he filled them with a dark red liquid, and set the large container back inside the cabinet. He picked up the first glass and downed it quickly; "The answer is Anabel chose to die alone, and as much as I want to make good on my finial words. The fact still remains that it was her house, her life, her right to tell me to stay or go. In the end of all things Master Kaos, I wanted to make her happy by any means necessary, and if she would be happier without me there I respect her choice.

 Vermillion set the empty glass down on the base of the cabinet upside down, the glass vanished after a few seconds to reappear beside the old spot perfectly clean. The other he brought with him as he walked back over to set it on the table beside the small box he had slid down the table. He picked up the box leaving the glass; "Its cherry brandy, fruits from the mountain, I would be ungracious for you to come all this way and not offer at least some form of refreshment." Vermillion walked back to his chair and sat down setting the box right back where it was when Kaos came in. "If you need a life in order to save hers, you can have mine."

 Taking the glass, he sipped it slowly and nodded, "..... In all my years of experience with women... I have learned one thing... Some women try to protect the ones they love by saying things they think would be better for them. You said you want to be with her in her death, But she is not dying yet. She has a good two months or so before it is cold enough for the snow to stay."

 Kaos finished the glass and set it in front of Vermillion, "... It's up to you, but some relationships take risks.... Are you sure you're making her happy by staying away?"

 He laid the pieces of the broken ring next to the glass and turned for the door, "Didn't mean to intrude, and thank you for the wine.... I will let you know what progress I come up with... If you need to contact me... Talk to Ive."

			            Vermillon turned the glass over and it disappeared to appear over on the cabinet clean; "You'll find me in Nictaros, Sorrow is on her way here, but I'll divert her straight to town. She has a room at Ive's, second floor inside room, and she'll be there in probably 4 hours depending on how many times she stops to rest."
