'We're going to stop off in town to pick up some medicine before arriving at my home.' Roderich informed almost mechanically, his voice a droning monotone. It made it easier if he didn't have any emotion in his voice, seeming as his concern was unwelcome. Perhaps he had been too willing to allow himself to care a little for the ex-nation, so it was his own fault... Gilbert hadn't really done any wrong. He'd just been... Well, the way he had always been.
'Here.' Leading Gilbert to a taxi, the Austrian opened the door for the ill man, but said nothing more. He'd made a self-promise to distance himself a little from the albino, guessing that it'd be a better situation for Gilbert -rather than himself- if he did.
In the same thought, he admitted to himself that he'd definitely prefer it if Gilbert did like him... But he supposed it'd be wishful thinking and only that.

Not even really seeing anything, or even hearing what the Austrian said, Gilbert made a non-committal sound in the back of his throat. "Mm." He just let himself be led to the taxi, eyes foggy and blank.
Once in the taxi, he settled himself in the corner of it, much like he had in the taxi in London. He zoned out wearily, closing his eyes and keeping the handkerchief pressed lightly to his forehead. His thoughts were a jumbled mess and he tried to sort them, but he grew more and more confused the further he tried to fix them.
A slight groan escaped him, his cheeks flushed with fever and his eyes, when open, blurry and clouded.

Kiku fought back a laugh when Alfred finished the story, but a slight chuckle did escape his mouth. He had never heard of a nation actually dressing up as a commoner and living among his people. It sounded like a good idea to get to know the people, but how Alfred solved the problem was nothing short of amusing.
"And how did Arthur-san take all of this, Alfred-san?" Kiku questioned before noticing Arthur walking back in looking much more relaxed than he did before, "Welcome back, Arthur-san."
The Japanese man listened to Arthur and Alfred's playful banter, well, more playful on Alfred's part. He smiled slightly, wishing that he could interact with China the same way. Truth be told, Kiku was slightly starting to miss Yao as an older brother figure. However, Kiku made a promise to himself that he would not make peace with Yao until he was a much stronger nation. Letting out a sigh, Kiku turned his attention to Alfred, a slight smile playing on his lips.
"Well, now that you told your story, I suppose I must tell mine now, hai?" Kiku wondered, the smile on his lips turning into a playful one.

Roderich got into the taxi beside Gilbert, not feeling very comfortable with sitting next to the driver -it was something he'd not ever liked- though he stayed to one side to give the man as much room as possible. After giving the driver his instructions, the Austrian sat and waited in silence. He was informed that there'd be a waiting fee but Roderich didn't listen. He fixed his gaze out of the window to avoid having to look anywhere inside the taxi, particularly at the albino. It felt awkward.
The first half of the taxi journey passed in silence. Then again, Roderich had not expected otherwise... It had been brief, and Gilbert probably did not want to speak with him. The Austrian broke the silence with a promise of 'I'll be right back...' As he got out of the taxi, heading towards the pharmacy on the other side of the road.
Now alone, he sighed heavily. Why he'd not just called Ludwig and got him to take Gilbert home... But then Roderich felt a grip of guilt. Ah, yes. It had been the Austrian himself who'd caused this, he remembered easily, and so it was his duty to fix it. Although it wasn't the best of situations... It was how it had to be.

The drive to a pharmacy had been relatively silent, something that Gilbert rarely enjoyed. If he wasn't too dizzy, he probably would have been ensuring that it wasn't quiet, but he could barely even move his leg without feeling the risk of falling over. He also could barely string together thoughts. As Roderich left the car, he glanced out of the window and saw rain. But...no, it wasn't raining. He had been dry outside, not getting poured on.
Rubbing his temples with his free hand, he let out a soft groan and closed his eyes, willing his delusional mind to figure out what really was happening. He opened his eyes again, and there was no rain.
'I wonder if Roderich will even think to get a thermometer?' he thought wearily, leaning his head back against the seat and closing his eyes.

Ducking her head as she ran through the rain toward the building, Svitlana cast a worried look around her. Was she late? Oh, she couldn't be late! Her boss would get mad at her again! Making it into the lobby, however, her teary blue eyes caught the time and smile brightened her face. She still had ten minutes until the meeting started.
Peeling off her raincoat, she couldn't help but feel a bit of relief that she had remembered it. Rain and her white blouse would have been a disastrous combination, she knew. Folding the coat carefully, she hurried toward the meeting room.
Peeking her head in, the Ukrainian's eyes grew teary once more and her smile faded into a troubled frown. Ivan was there. She really wanted to go and sit with him; he looked so lonely. But...her boss forbid it. She wasn't supposed to be near him at all. Hopefully, Yao would be able to keep her brother company.
Sitting down in a seat far across the room from the Russian, Svitlana ducked her head and fought back tears of frustration. She wanted to be able to be Ivan's older sister again, not run away because he boss didn't want her to be near him.

Closing the umbrella as he reached the shelter of the building, Gupta cast an astonished gaze up toward the sky. It seemed remarkable that every time he had gone to London, it had been raining. More so, due to the fact that rain was a rarity in his homeland. Although, he supposed that if it would be problematic if it rained too much, like it did here.
Walking into the meeting room, the Egyptian scanned the room for any sight of the Turk. It appeared as if the man was not there, yet. A slight smile tugged his lips at the thought of Sadiq entering the room late, flustered and put on edge by the comment that Greece was sure to make. Even though it could be claimed that they were friends, a part of Gupta still took amusement from the Turk's misfortune.
Sitting in an empty seat, he hid a slight smirk behind his crossed hands. He was near enough to the Greek that it would cause problems between Heracles and Sadiq, but far enough that it would not appear to have been fixed. With another amused smile, he set his briefcase onto the seat next to him to save it for the Turk.

Throwing a troubled look out of the window of the plane, Angelique fretted quietly, fidgeting with the tip of her pigtail. She could not see land, yet, still above the clouds. A glance at the man's watch beside her told her that it was almost time for the meeting to start. Her brown eyes glanced back out the window, searching for any sign that they were almost there. None came.
The African nation stared down at her lap, fighting back a harsh curse. Having hung around near Arthur as much as she had (not to mention the other pirates that had frequented her island for the past few centuries), she had earned herself a large repertoire of swears in her vocabulary. However, she didn't like resorting to it. Especially in public. Or near Francis, for that matter.
Another glance out of the window brought her no relief. Nothing. Still nothing. 'I'm going to be late!' she whined silently in her head, feeling a burbling sensation of worry in her stomach. She really didn't want to come in and have everyone stare at her. She really didn't. And...most likely, nobody would save her a seat and she'd be stuck sitting next to someone scary. 'Why me?'

Setting his pipe against the leg of his chair where it would be in easy reach, Ivan glanced from the corner of his eye at Yao. The Chinese man looked worried, he noticed. It made sense, though. The man was quite observant and sharp witted. He had probably alerted himself to the fact that Ivan really did not care for the Greek. And since he was somewhat forcing the two to get along, Yao was probably feeling guilty. There wasn't really anything that Ivan could do, though, so he remained silent.
Catching sight of his eldest sister hurrying to the farthest spot available from him, Ivan's eyes widened before he looked down at his lap briefly. Pain flickered in his violet eyes before being systematically masked once more, and he looked back up and glanced around the table as if her avoidance hadn't bothered him.

Alfred nodded, excited to hear a story. "Go for it Kiku!" He said giving Japan a thumbs up and his full attention.Once more ignoring questions of the United Kingdom.

Kiku put on a thoughtful face as he tried to think of an interesting story to tell Alfred. He wasn't a very good story teller, but Kiku did grow up a devious young nation when he felt like it. Scanning his brain for a good story, Kiku managed to think one up and turned his attention to the eager American.
"Well, Alfred-san, while I was growing up, China-san was a very strict nation. While teaching my people how to farm and raise animals, I always found joy in causing him mayham," Kiku began thoughtfully, "I recall an event where many of my people had started raising animals, such as pigs, cows and horses. Since China-san was in charge of the animals, I would wake up in the middle of the night and let the animals loose, to see how China-san would react."
Letting out a slight chuckle, Kiku finished, "China-san was not pleased and always spent the better half of the morning chasing all the animals back into the pasture. Taiwan-chan and I would laugh at how muddy and unclean China-san ended up being when he had finished rounding up the animals. I was always punished, but that never stopped me from continuing until Korea-san caught me one night and I was banned from leaving the house in the middle of the night."
Finishing his tale, Kiku gave Alfred an apologetic look and said, "Gomen nasai if I had bored you, Alfred-san. I'm not that good with storytelling"

Alfred grinned as Kiku finished his story. "Nah, I liked it! It was even better since it was true! Whoa Kiku! Never would have thought you would have had it in ya!" America grinned poking Japan's shoulder. "Never would have guessed."He whispered with a laugh. "Ya know,"Alfred said changing the subject, "I wonder when the meeting will start."

Not only did Roderich get a thermometer, he'd overbought a little. Being naturally unused to this sort of situation, he'd pretty much bought anything that seemed useful in this sort of situation. And of course, he bought such things in abundance... He was sure that the third thermometer would probably come in useful at some point, though he was uncertain about the fourth... The carrier bag that he carried back to the taxi contained an abundance of medicines -just in case Gilbert didn't like one, or if it wasn't quite right-, a few hot water bottles, a cooling strip or two... And a few packets of cough drops just because they seemed appropriate. That, and the four thermometers...
He felt rather pleased with himself. Surely this was all they'd need... Granted, buying a bottle of every possible flavour or brand of 'flu medicine was pretty silly, and then going on to buying tablets just in case Gilbert took an adverse effect to medicine...
'I'm sure there's a use for most of these things.' He thought to himself as he got back into the taxi, settling himself beside Gilbert with a slight smile. 'Here.' He couldn't help but grin as he pressed a lollipop into his former rival's hand. 'For being such a good boy.'
It was a rather silly way to break the awkward silence.
----------
It didn't take much to catch the asian's attention, and his gaze instantly caught itself upon Ivan. He frowned a little, having seen the way the man reacted to his sister... And it wasn't hard to miss Ukraine, after all. He supposed it was worse for Ivan than it was for him; his sister deliberately avoided him, and they were still quite close... Whereas when it came to Yao himself and Kiku... Neither made an effort to avoid the other, but neither did they make an effort to interact. Or rather, it seemed easier not to.
He tore his gaze from the Russian after a few moments, glancing into space. One hand moved in order to remove one of Ivan's gloves -which was placed in his own lap- before he then took the uncovered hand, squeezing gently. His own hand was so much warmer than Ivan's, and so he was sure that the taller nation would feel his support and comfort better this way... And of course, it was hidden to avoid embarrassment for the Russian -after all, it could easily provoke catcalls or sneers. That, he did not want from the other nations... But only because he didn't want his friend upset anymore than today had already done.
'I'm sorry...' He leant over a little towards Ivan to murmur. '...I'm sorry for being... A bad friend, aru.'

Rolling his eyes as he flipped a page in his book, Arthur gave a soft snort as Kiku finished his story. A slight smile tugged at his lips, and he sighed softly at the American's enthusiastic reaction. He didn't look up from his book, green eyes scanning the words he had read often enough to nearly memorize. "Do you two enjoy speaking of the torments you put your caretakers through?" he asked in a soft voice. While his words may have made one wary about him taking offense, his tiny smile made evident that he was more amused than anything.
While hearing Alfred speak of how he had disliked being under his care hurt, he couldn't fault the lad. His King, at the time, had been a petty man that was relatively disliked back in England, as well. Beside, it wasn't as if he wasn't aware of the enjoyment that causing the conqueror problems created. After all, he had been young at one point, as well. And, if his research proved correct, it was a point that was a couple centuries after the Japanese man.

Unable to keep track of anything in his state of mind, Gilbert jumped slightly when something was pressed into his hand. His blurry red eyes quickly opened, but it took a few seconds for him to be able to start piecing things in around him. There was a stick of blue candy in his hand, a 'lollipop' he believed Arthur called it. He wasn't sure of the English equivalent to German. He blinked, then looked up at the Austrian.
He rolled his eyes at the man's words. "Thanks ever so much," he muttered sarcastically. He pulled off the wrapper and stuck the small candy into his mouth, twirling his tongue around it once before just letting it sit in his mouth.
Leaning back against the seat, he closed his eyes again and zoned out again. Sucking on the candy was actually kind of soothing for his throat, plus it tasted good.

Torn from his thoughts as his glove was carefully pulled off, a shiver ran through his spine. Due to his regular low temperature, he was always cold. His gloves helped stave off the cold, even if only mildly. When Yao's warm hand grabbed his ungloved one, he glanced over at the Asian curiously. He wasn't used to skin on skin contact. It was unnerving at best, and alarming at worst.
"Bad friend?" he repeated, confused. Was Yao being a bad friend? He...was admittedly being somewhat selfish, but with how selfless he normally was, he deserved some selfishness every once and a while. "Not understand," Ivan murmured, voice very soft so nobody other than the Asian would hear his fragmented English.

"Aw Lay off Iggy! Who asked ya? 'sides, just seeing the looks on the faces of the people could even make you grin! Man, What I would have given to see your face back then when you figured it all out!" Alfred said with a grin. He was just poking fun anyways. Arthur wouldn't get mad. He was smiling too. "Kiku! Don't you just smile when you remember China's reactions to the stuff you did?" Alfred questioned.
