"Uh..unfortounatly the world you're going to currently only uses magic and swords, y'know like that crap out of Dungeons and Dragons. Kinda behind on the times, so you won't be able to use any guns..." Ike laughed, he knew this was gonna irk some people a whole lot. "I hope you lot are better at hand to hand stuff and bladetry...Aaand you'll be going there via the portal room...Joe yer gonna have to get a codename for this one. So someone go ahead and name him, I'm not good at that sorta junk...and as always use nothing but the codenames on the mission..other than that, I think yer all set to go. Oh, and you'll be arriving in the village of Goo..." He paused. "No, seriously, the village is named Goo...But from there you'll meet a stationed portion of the army there, it's right smack dab in enemy territory. The force just recently conquered the city, therefore you guys need to be careful, the men are gonna be rowdy and obnoxiously drunk. Go striaght to General Yunz's tent. He'll take it form there with giving you your orders and whatnot."

Joe couldn't help smiling at the news about the guns. Boy oh boy, this would be interesting, at least. "Well, when I was at this military thing, my callsign was Joker," he said, trying to be helpful.

Requiem6661 Riku slammed his blade into the cliff face again, and reached back for the pneumatic gun. He aimed it at the rock, and pulled the trigger. The hook embedded into the cliff, and the air-powered gun reset itself. He let it hang again, and grabbed the rope, fastening it into the hook and securing it. He stopped to wipe his brow, and looked down. He was about seventy-five feet up, and it had taken him forty-five minutes. He was getting tired. Joel seemed to still be standing at the base of the cliff. Riku was getting frustrated. "Yo, Joel! You coming up or not? That blade's not gonna find itself, you know!" heart You found my heart and rebuilt it from dust... heart Outai was in an extraordinary good mood due to the cold weather, and when she was in a good mood, she liked to show off a bit. Besides, it would be much faster than climbing and would use much less energy. She unfolded her huge ebony colored archangel wings, which in turn pushed back her black cape and revealed her bare, blue-hued arms. "Instead of wasting your energy and time by climbing, how about a lift?" She offered cheerfully. heart ...and now let me return the favor for you. heart

"No, not Joker," Steven decided. He could make executive decisions. He was a captain. Plus Ike was a lieutenant. As soon as his back was turned he'd be stuffing a pistol into his pants somewhere; there was plenty of room for that sort of thing. Swords... well, he was a SEAL. Ex-SEAL. He was no swordsman, but if he were given a short enough blade, he could power through with it. What had his friend told him? Don't move the arm, hit with the body, wasn't it? Taught by... Sir Gemini or something? Whatever. It was advice worth listening to.
Plus there was definitely going to be a Glock 26 down his pants pocket. No questions asked.
"How about... Homer? Your last name is Simpson," Steven suggested cheerily.

Joe shook his head resolutely. "No. Definitely not Homer. I hate that show."

"In that case, you're probably Bob," Steven told him with a slow nod. "Yeah, Bob. Joe, Bob, Joebob, whatever." He paused. "Well, perhaps Joker would work. But then I'd be forced to think about Batman, and it's hard to focus when you're thinking about Batman."

"Well, they went with Joker because it was shorter than Harlequin, which was my original name. It's cause I'm good with jokes and cards and stuff." Joe pulled a deck of cards out of his pocket and began to shuffle them masterfully.

The state of the world they were going to wasn't a big worry for Ruki; after all, that was the sort of situation she was used to. "It would be a good thing if we could decided on codenames quickly," she advised. "The sooner we get there, the sooner we get back." Joe seemed to have a look on his face that suggested he thought the no gun thing was funny, while her other teammate's face was a mask. Either he really didn't care, or he had some other plan... "Hey, I have an idea; he doesn't like Joker, and you say your original name was Harlequin... Why not Harley?" Chibi suggested. She used to have a friend who's dog was named Harley, after a brand of motorcycle, or something... Turning to Steven again, she asked, "What's your codename, by the way? Mine's Chibi."
((In case you haven't noticed, I'll sometimes switch back and forth between calling her Ruki and Chibi. Just want to make sure you all know it's the same person.))

"Neo," Steven replied matter-of-factly. "I don't know who chose it, but whoever did had the Matrix on their mind. And Harley sounds good. Your choice, that or Joker. Just if you choose Joker, expect me to be muttering about being the Batman. A lot." He smiled pleasantly, then turned back to Ruki. "How'd you get a codename like Chibi? At least Neo has something to do with 'new'. And I don't mind the compliment either," he reflected, putting a finger to his scruffy chin.

Joe cringed a bit. "Harley? I'd rather not...bad accident with one of those." He shivered a bit. "Harlequin was OK, but like I said, Joker is shorter and easier to say. Besides, if he's Neo, then I'll be Joker. You pop out Batman lines, and I'll start calling you 'The One.'"

Clasping his neck, Yue leaned against the trees in the forest for support. For a second, he saw a person standing against one of the trees opposite him. Clenching his fist, he slammed into the tree; his fist leaving a large crater. There was no one there. The breaths that escaped the boy's lips were shallow and quick. His mind was playing tricks on him, and his body was willingly particapting, taking all of the cues. This partical motion ended with mixed results. Pinned up against the tree, which he had almost punched through, his own hand choaked him. Yue's eyes were glazed over in red, his mind viewing something that wasn't reality, something that was still able to hurt him. Finally, the grip was released. Leaning against the tree, Yue reopened his eyes. It was this one person whom he was fighting, but they weren't physcially there. It wouldn't be long. A few more of these memory attacks and he would completely submit to the instincts of vampirism. "I've got you this time." Diving forward, the punch he landed contacted, yet again, another tree, however, this time the blow split the tree's trunk; the great organism toppled over. His senses returned, just in time for him to land a second blow on the tree, before it crushed him, that split it again. 'That was too close.' Stumbling, he fell to his knees. His mind was being attacked, not only, by the immense hunger of his vampiric stomach, but also by these memories that seemed to come with them. Arching his back, something forced itself up his throat and out. The glob of goo, he spat out, squirmed and writhed in the darkness of the leafy canopy above them. After a devasting blow, the goo was splattered everywhere. Then it happened again. His eyes glazed over. This time, the memories poured into him, overwhealming his body 'n' mind. An artic chill escaped from his being and rolled off of him. All of the birds in the area took off, animals scurried away and scratched at the gates of the city, trying to get in. A monster, smaller then a dragon but every bit as fercious if not more, was let loose upon it, it was the monster of Vampirism.

"It's not my fault!" Steven complained. "If I start thinking Batman then I can't aim straight, it's terrible." He was apparently joking, however. "Ah, fine. Joker works." He paused, then glanced at Chibi. "In retrospect, I suppose the source of your codename becomes pretty obvious.
"Anyway, should we be packing up and heading out? I somehow doubt my style of dress is appropriate," he commented, looking down at the tan buttoned-up shirt and tan pants.
