Imagination and duct tape can solve more than you give it credit for. Kattie smiled at Jake. He made a good choice. She was also happy for Arianna.

"Thanks!" Jake said, relieved. Next was Alex. He headed over to his table. "Hey, Alex. Can I talk to you a sec?"

"Sure," Alex said calmly. Inside he was a bubbly mess, he hoped Jake was asking him. He just needed to remain calm.

Jake approached Alex next. Well Alex was pretty good at archery, and he was nice, I guess he is a good choice, Lizzie thought, But I'm still mad at him.

"I was thinking, and I want you to come on the quest with me and Arianna," Jake said. This sounded much better than the last time.

Jake turned towards the Hermes table. He wasn't sure how to deal with Lizzie. She was looking in his direction. She had been watching which people he had choosen. Would she be happy with spending time with Alex? Probably not, but Jake headed over to her anyway. He sat down, to nervous to stay standing. "Lizzie," he started, "can I talk to you?"

Oh no, not Lizzie. Alex was now worried. Lizzie could get into huge trouble in the real world. She was a firebrand and an erratic one at that. True, she had calmed down lately, but still, how long could that last?

"So," Jake said, "I was thinking that you would want to come along on the quest. I know you're not claimed, but I've heard your a good fighter. That's a kind of person I would need along with me on the quest." Jake studied Lizzie's reaction.

"Kattie, I am so sorry that you didn't get chosen!" Arianna said looking at her sister with tears in her eyes, she didn't want to leave her sister behind.

Lizzie was happy and shocked all at once. She almost jumped up to give Jake a hug, but calmed herself. "You heard correctly, I am a good fighter. Thank you for choosing me."

Lizzie was the third choice, Alex was surprised. Why not Kattie, or Morpheus's child. They were both claimed and useful. Heck, what about Mina, she had good resources. Why Lizzie?

Alex quickly composed himself. He was done eating, so he approached Jake. "When do we leave?"

Lizzie saw Alex approach, preparing for an outburst, she braced herself for the worst. When all Alex asked was a question she herself had been curious about, she relzxed.

Alex left for the Apollo Cabin. It was time to pack. After stuffing a few articles of clothing, his toothbrush, his weapon, and a picture of his mom in a bag, he reported to the Big House.

Lizzie practically skipped to the Herme Cabin. She packed quickly and then ran all the way back to the Big House. When she saw that Alex was there, she slowed down, not wanting a big confrontation just yet.
