it felt like they could go on forever. the stairs were never ending, up to the heavens and possibly even past it. or was it just circling down now, running on the opposite side of the stairway. forever into eternity? he had to press on to find out, and hopefully not need to pee. the voice roared again, the next step of its command was pleading and it gave him great pause. a kingdom to shape and mold. to have all he wanted. just by looking aoround he already knew he had it. If Taima had still had a voice, she would have used it to laugh. She had no desire to be a king, to rule over a non-existent people in a mimicry of life.  Shun peered ahead. How much further did they need to go? Letting out a breath, he closed his eyes as he went up a few more steps. He needed to be ready for whatever was a head. Focus. Don't wear yourself out. He kept these things in mind as he continued to climb. Mitsu was starting to wonder if she should play a game on her way up. Maybe it would make the stairs less terrible. She had long ago stopped counting them but she had no idea what to do to pass the time in this silence.

How were there even more stairs?
Serafina grunted, though no noise left her lips. This had to be over soon. Eventually, she would reach the top of the stairs, and no more of this nonsense would ever matter. All she was doing was finding the answers to her questions, with the rest of her family, wherever they were scattered. She felt like it was getting harder to see, everyone around her just looking like shadows moving through the night.
Still, as she looked behind her, she saw Gargantuan. Taima. G. Sammy. She knew where some of her family was, and then rest of them were ahead of her. When they reached the end, they would face the final end together.
Was that Jing nearby her? What was he saying? Did he hear The Voice, too? She would never be able to tell. Did it offer everyone the same false promise, so desperate to make sure they never found out the ultimate truth?
