Ralph had taken time to watch the other children, sitting for a moment to ponder his next move. However, when Briar had thrown a balloon and it got caught in a tree. It had Ralph's attention, and the narrow miss that Briar had also gained his interest.
Picking up a purple balloon Ralph began to sneak over. He was going to try and hit Briar, hopefully the balloon in his hand would agree. However, Ralph didn't even get a chance to throw his balloon when some kid came bowling into him and causing him to drop the balloon he was holding. "Hey watch where you're going." Briar hadn't noticed Ralph sneaking up on him, although he'd heard the other boy snapping at one of the other kids. It had been a while since he'd sent anything in Griffin's direction, so Briar had gone looking for the other boy. He'd noticed him as he managed to duck some confetti tossed his way and done his best to sneak up on the other. Then when he was finally close enough Briar had sent his balloon flying in his rival's direction. Quote: Briar targets Griffin and manages to hit him with a water balloon. Hit: 41 Miss: 32

The kid Ralph had shoved, shoved him back and instead of getting into a fight Ralph found the nearest water balloon and threw it at the kid. After his attempt at sending bubbles at a kid had ended up missing them, Briar reckoned that it was time to take a little break and mayhaps even go and get some more juice. Tossing balloons and stuff was thirsty work. He'd bumped into Kevin on the way back from the snack stand and from the grin on the other boy's face it looked like his friend was doing really, really well. Briar scooped up another water balloon, ready to jump back into the fray - there was no way he was going to let Kevin beat him - aka he really, really wanted those cookies.

It was strange. Before today, Griffin had no problem with soap. He actually loved the stuff. It kept him clean and safe from icky germs that wanted to make him sick. He was a big fan of handwashing, especially when he got to use the foamy soap that they had at home. Which, when he thought about it, was pretty similar to the soapsuds they they were fighting with.
The crucial difference was that when he used soap on his own, he washed it off really well. Which was what he had to do every time someone threw it at him, or he had the mad idea to try throwing it at someone else. It majorly sucked, and took out of his balloon-throwing time- which was even harder to take when Briar managed to nail him with another good shot- but given the choice between taking a couple of minutes or being an itchy, sticky mess, he figured he could spare the time.

Worry that Kevin might indeed be coming out on top in their private little challenge had Briar looking around for a new potential target. He’d put so much into this that he knew he’d feel a little gutted if after all this Kevin ended up winning. Scooping up a balloon, he looked around for someone to lob it at and then he noticed Ralph – perfect! After sneaking forward to get a bit closer, it didn’t take long before Briar was sending the balloon in Ralph’s direction. Quote: Briar targets Ralph and manages to hit him with a water balloon. When Ralph had ditched the kid trying to fight him he'd found Griffin, who looked like he would appreciate a nice water balloon to help wash off the soap. Sufficiently cleaned up for the umpteenth time, Griffin decided to stockpile balloons. Not just a few of them in his shirt this time: he was going to commandeer an entire bin of them. There was one in particular that he was eyeing, a bit off to the side, but not so far from the action that he'd have a hard time finding targets. Dodging balloons as he went, he raced for the other side of the yard, collapsing next to the bin when he got there.
It was worth it, though. Now, he thought as he looked inside his prize, now he had all the ammunition he needed...
Or he would, if the bin wasn't completely empty.

Briar found himself slipping on the muddy ground as he went to toss his balloon at his next chosen target. He'd already started to throw the balloon as he stumbled and the combination caused the balloon to go wide of his original target and end up smacking into another kid's back. It looked like Griffin was going to kick the empty tub in his frustration. He picked his foot up, swung it back, and then stopped. The last time he'd tried that, it had really hurt. So instead he bent down and smacked the tub on the side, jumping in surprise when it easily fell over.
It was like these things were trying to get on his nerves.
There was another bin not too far away that looked promising, so Griffin started over there, staying on his hands and knees to avoid the all-out warfare going on above him.

Time for a new target~ this time it looked like it was going to be Briar since Ralph'd been struck in the back. As luck would have it Ralph managed to get Briar back! When he was still halfway across the yard, Griffin crawled straight into the path of a hose. "Aaaaaaaaaugh!" Despite his yelling, the teacher was undeterred, forcing him to take a detour. A very soggy detour. If teachers were acceptable targets for this game, Griffin knew he'd change tactics in a heartbeat.

Briar had been about to lob a balloon at his latest target when Ralph's bit of payback hit him squarely in the back causing him to drop his balloon. Given that the other boy had lost him a target, Briar reckoned that he may as well be one of his next targets. He didn't go after Ralph immediately however, instead he waited until they were both near one of the sudsy water tubs, before sending some of the soapy bubbles in the direction of Ralph's top. Finally, after trekking through rain, mud, and fallen comrades, Griffin reached his goal. This tub was strategically located so as not to be right in the middle of the action, but close enough so that plenty of kids would be running by. He sat behind it, putting both of his arms over the top protectively. At least, until he realized that looked like he was hugging the thing. Coughing brusquely, he shifted so that only one of his arms was covering it, reaching into his new armory with the other.
Before targeting his rival, he wanted to establish himself in his new base. So instead he lobbed the inaugural shot at Ralph, then ducked behind the bin in case of any retaliatory action.

Briar's next target was someone he remembered sneaking up on him earlier. And he'd waiting for what he felt was the right moment to get his own back on them. The opportunity came when he caught the girl running in pursuit of someone else and Briar casually lobbed a water balloon in her direction as she ran past him.
