You know, I hear all the time that the Necron are too "overpowered" but in reality, GW was just throwing a bone to us Ork players so we could collect an army that had a chance to win more than 1 in 10 games. Hehe.

I love the orks, really i do... "My Mob of 20 orks charge into battle against a squad of 5 space marines... we shoot in the shooting phase, but we are orks, so out of the 20 shots we hit with 2, and both fail to wound, the Marines open fire, hitting 5 times, making five kills, then the orks are on them in vicious hand to hand combat. but wait! Even with double inititive for charging in with a mighty WAAAAGH! the marines somehow manage to have more initive than the orks, and kill 11 of the 15 remaining orks! The last 4 orks take their attack and kill 3 of the 5 marines, that remaining marines eat the last 4 orks for breakfast!"

Yeah... an exaggeration, but not a big one.

So... the necron is the Ork Players secret fall back army, and Im sticking to that story. Actually, i dont have many necron, so I have only played them once, and in a small battle... but I ate Nurgle for breakfast with them.

Also, to all you Eldar who complain about the necron's power... what can I tell you... there is a REASON you elf-bois engineered the Orks to fight the necron... oh wait... orks cant even beat YOU guys... what were you thinking?

Which is why I've only ever seen one person field Pariahs. One of the things that annoys me a little bit about Necron players is that thier army lists tend to look almost the same. Some units always left out, always the same lord config, etc. I've got alot or respect for Necron players who actually do things differently and field Pariahs, Wraiths and Immortals and go for the minimum on Warriors.

I agree. I don't see why players wouldn't field those units anyway: Wraiths are awesome, as they have str 6 and an invulnerable save and are brilliant at tying up enemy units. Flayed ones are always worth taking as well.

My Necron army list:

Necron Lord: Warscythe, nightmare shroud, gaze of flame, solar pulse - 175

Necron Lord: Destroyer body, ressurection orb, phase shifter - 200

7 Pariahs: 252

6 flayed ones: 108

10 Warriors: 180

10 Warriors: 180

10 Warriors: 180

Wraith: 41

Wraith: 41

5 Destroyers: 250

Heavy Destroyer: 65

Heavy Destroyer: 65

Tomb Spyder: 55

Comes to about 1750 points.

Well, I can understand why people don't take some units. Pariahs aren't Necrons, or Jetbikes or anything, so they're slow as crap, and don't really have the resiliance to cross the field with pure footslogging. Wraiths may have I6 and an invurnerable save, but with only a three man unit they go down with no WBB to psycannons, or even just a hail of pulse, las, or bolter fire. Heavy Destroyers are just a lascannon on a Jetbike, and die faster than anything else in your list because of thier small unit size. Flayed Ones are great against Tau and Imp Guard, but can't really compete with dedicated assault troops. Immortals and Scarabs are okay, but not too many take them.

Still, I find that the most fun armies to play against are those that are built for fun or fluff, not pure effectiveness.

I agree... thats why I have put so much more time and energy (and cash!) into my orks... The necron are my fall back when I really want a win under my belt.

Thats what why I love wraiths, I can't stand the retard who decided that those scrawny little things deserve a 6 strenght, but thier cheap 3+ invunerable save is very fun to know out with a DaemonHunters army...(as you may know, they have lots of invunerable punching weapons.)

Any way, like I've said before If I did play necrons and did bring a C'tan...it wouldn't be the Nightbringer...most armies have thier one thier one "nightbringer assasin" plan which they can easily take out 360 points, A.K.A a big chunk of your necron army of the table easily. Me being Daemonhunters would therefore resort too my assasins for that job as 2 of the 4 could beat that thing up in combat to the point of either complete death, or enough to take him out next turn easily. While one more could take him...it just might take a while.

My callidus for example...
Polymorphine...comes in, can move and assault that turn...so move, shoot my neural shredder which would be a template shot so auto hit, 6+ wound (off chance but no saves,) so lets say I don't wound, She assaults and goes first (5 initiative) All her attacks only need to hit...she needs no rule to wound, and that nightbringer doesn't get any saves either...I get luckly he'd already dead right there for one third his points. If I don't get luckly, I do have a decent chance of survival where next turn he's surely screwed...where if I don't survive, 120 points for...360 thats dead next turn.

^^All I'm trying to say is necron players stop making such a big deal out of your nightbringer...I for one (and I've seen several others in this thread.) am not threatend by one. Thank you. xp

I agree that the nightbringer is a complete waste of points unless you are trying to play a campaign or something.

However, unless they have changed the callidus assassin so that she no longer has a c'tan phase sword, she will get squished (and even then she'll die, as str4 cannot hurt t8 ). It clearly states in the special rules for the c'tan that any model armed with a c'tan phase sword or knife strikes at one of the gods the weapon will inflict no wounds and will be absorbed into the necrodermis disarming the attacker. And even if they did change that, I do not think that she wounds automaticaly. That ain't what it says in my codex assassins and I don't think they have changed any of the assassins since then. The evasor assassin is the only one with a chance becuase he always wounds on a 4+.
