Shut up, I feel rediculously old. My friends took me out for my 20th birthday, and as the clock struck midnight I started to cry. I don't know why, I just had this overwhelming feeling of age, and it scared the hell out of me. Lord knows what'll happen this year... *sigh*
On a side note, my little brother turns 18 this fall... and my baby brother turns 16. *sob* I remember being both those ages. They don't seem like very long ago. This sucks. cry

Sorry if saying 20 or 21 isn't old offended you to the point where you felt like you had to tell me to shut up, but it's not old, and it's certainly not ridiculously old. You talk to someone who's just turned 40 and see how they feel about what old is, and then do the same for someone who's 65. We'll all have to be 30 before people who are 30 and older right now stop refering to us as kids. Even someone like Rodney MacDonald, who is the Premier of Nova Scotia for the people who don't know, is considered young by the way of politics and he's 34.
I can understand a sense of feeling older, especially having younger siblings, I have a 16 year old brother, myself. Plus it sounds really funny saying that you're 20, or you're going to be 20. But to have someone say that they're old when we've really barely begun to live as adults is a bit of a joke, and I'm sure people who really are old would not hesitate to scoff at us and tell us what old really is.
I don't mean to sound like I'm lecturing, especially when I'm not in a position to be lecturing about what being old really is, but I find being told to shut up very rude and very offensive. It's hard to tell online whether someone is joking or not, and I apologize if you were, but I was joking originally, in case you couldn't tell.

The other day I was writing some form and wrote 23 because I forgot my age, it wasn't important though. If I make it two more years I'll be 24 and have a nice easy number to remember and never look foolish again.

I myself don't feel like I'm old, but I'm only (almost) 19. I do feel like I'm getting older, because I am. However slowly. I certainly don't feel rediculously old or anything like that. And sometimes I also wish I was 5. Kids are always in a rush to grow up. Especially these days. But I wish that I would stop getting older. It's no fun. Well, up to a certain point.

It's true, though. They want to be older, but most of the time they don't want the responsibility. I wish I could be five and my only responsibility was making sure I did my colouring homework blaugh

Okay, holy wow, I definitely didn't mean "shut up" like that. I could launch into a Princess Diaries type thing, but I'm sure you get the point. I'm sorry, shut up prolly wasn't the best choice of words, and I didn't mean to make you upset. sad I'm just kinda coming to terms with the fact that I'm not a kid anymore, I'm an adult. It sucks.

BAHAHAHAHA!!! Princess Diaries... "In America, 'shut up' doesn't always mean be quiet. Here it can mean 'oh my', 'jee whiz', 'golly wolly'..."
Love that movie. razz
@ KD: Same reason I'd want to be five again. Granted, I probably only have half (or less) of the responsibility you guys have. I'd still like to be five though. Not that I actually remember, but it seems like life itself would be a billion times easier. Everyone is your friend, everyone is cool and nice. Everything is... happy... and yellow. Sunny. I dunno.

It's not that I'm old in general, it's just that I feel slightly aged when everyone I meet is basically 5 or more years younger then me, but then again I'm not really counting and I don't really act (no I'm not immature) or look my age. I like meeting the youngin' in any case. xd
I just find that it just gets annoying when I get looked down on, like when I volunteer for an event and they tell me that an adult should probably man the ice machine....So 'what' am I? :Stare:
Anyways, don't forget, like fine wine I only get better with age. xd
All in good fun you guys. I'm pretty easygoing. I like poking fun at myself.
Age is how you yourself define it. It's how you feel not only the number of years you've lived.

On a more serious note, I tend to agree with the notion that age is largely influenced by strength of will. Influenced, but not determined. As you age you reach a point where growth ceases and degradation begins. Degradation of the body and mind. It's a natural process, though I doubt any of us here in TCG can truly empathize with what it's like. We're all relatively young in body and mind; and I can only hope likewise in spirit. I've seen elderly folks walk miles, and I've seen twenty year olds waste away on the couch. Live life up. It's the only one you get. On a side note, "GO OILERS!" sounds apt.
