Fatal raised an eyebrow. Elemental magic... there really wasn't incantations for that. Of course, Hanabi might very well find one, but generally speaking, you didn't need one. Elements... they coursed around the magic user. To need a spellbook for pure lightning... Fatal could tell that some amount of work would be required for Hanabi.

Reed decided to edge closer, and see what was happening, rather than run straight away.

(( I'm assuming, the second Fatal is Reed? ))
Hanabi couldn't find anything, and she didn't think she would. She sighed slightly as she made her book disappear. "How am I supposed to make lightning?" she asked. "I never really tried that before."

((Ah. Right.))
Fatal paused to place a finger on his chin. "Expand your magical senses... feel the air around you. You know that feeling you get when you rub your feet across the ground? Static electricity builds up and you can reach out and shock someone? Focus on that shock... find that feeling in the air around you. You can absorb the static energy from the air and then...."
Fatal turned and pointed, emitting a small burst of electrical energy, leaving a blackened spot on the nearest wall.

Hanabi nodded then tried to look for that static feeling in the air.

Reed crept closer... he was now outside of the shrine, leaning with his back against the wall. He wondered what exactly they were doing... but, now, he was close enough to hear, too.

Hanabi found it then began to focus on it. Once she felt she was ready, she pointed to the wall and emitted a burst of electrical energy. It was a pretty good size, though it was a bit shaky.

"Well, you can obviously do it," Fatal said thoughtfully. "But I think all you really need is to practice, there. Hm... why don't you try to conjure something? A glass of iced tea, perhaps. Simple enough."

Reed's brows pursed together. Z? Is he... training someone?

Hanabi smiled happily when she saw that she was able to conjure up lightning. Then she looked over at Fatal asked, "How do I conjure up something?"

Fatal suppressed the urge to sigh tiredly.
"Simple conjuring should be in your spell book," Fatal replied, "but before you try that, why don't you look up the words and tell me the incantation it tells you to use?"
((Idea... ninja ))

Hanabi nodded, then made the book appear in her hands. Just when she did that she realized she knew how to conjure objects! She laughed at herself a bit, then said, "Oh wow. I forgot that I conjure this spell book all the time!" She has just never tried to conjure other objects before.

The nature of spells, as Fatal understood them, was that magic words, or incantations, only 'guided' the magic to do what you wanted them to. Once you knew a spell, had practiced with it, and/or was attuned to it by heart, as Fatal was with necromancy.
"And what are the magical words you first learned to use that spell with?" asked Fatal.
((This is just my opinion/theory, feel free to disagree.))

"Hm..." Hanabi thought for a moment then flipped through the pages until she came to the spell. She read out loud a few words, which made up the spell.
(( Too tired to think of words. ))

"Interesting," Fatal replied. "That's an uncommon dialect, but very effective." The necromancer stepped closer, to peer at the book. "But you might benefit from the advice of a learned scholar. Try switching this," Fatal pointed to one word, "with this," he pointed to another, "and don't say this third word at all. It's blunt, and not grammatically correct," Fatal admitted, "but it will perform the spell more efficiently--unless you're trying to conjure a person. Otherwise, that will help your spell a great deal."
((So's... what can we do with these two now? I'm not quite sure... where to start him trusting her enough to be somewhat evil again....))

(( Well, if Fatal can convince Hanabi that the people he is after are the evil ones, she'll help him. ))
Hanabi nodded. She did as Fatal instructed her to do so and cast the spell, as she thought about glass of iced tea. And it appeared in her hand. "Look! It worked!" she said happily.

"Excellent," Fatal assured Hanabi. "I think I'm gaining an understanding of your magical capabilities... yes. One last test, I think. Try to cast... an illusion."
So, basically, Hanabi needed to conjure a vision, so to speak. Of what, she could choose. Maybe make it appear like there were two of herself? Or maybe that they were actually standing on a tropical island paradise. The decision was up to Hanabi.
The only question: does her book tell her how to do that?
