Areli looked at Cade, and pulled him closer too, but far enough away from Jax. "He is your brother, he just doesn't want to admit it... Right Jax?" she said, glancing down at Jax with golden eyes.

Jax stared at her, obviously having not noticed her tone, thinking how she could ask such a question when she had known him almost all his life. He shook his head with a frown. "No. He's just not my brother."
"But but... Mom said... Mom... Dad... He..." Cade said, confused.

Areli narrowed her eyes at Jax for a moment, before they returned to her normal soft gaze. Stuborn little bug... she thought. "Jax... He is your brother. Accept it, though how badly you don't want to accept it, you know its the truth." she said, before looking at Cade. "Don't listen to him..." she said, holding him close, nuzzling him, then doing the same to Jax.

Cade gulped. "But... Mom's still your mom, right?"
Jax growled darkly. He hesitated, and then shook his head angrily. "Not anymore." He said. "He's not my brother." He told Areli with a stubborn scowl.

Areli sighed, turning her head to Jax. "He doesn't want to believe that your mother is his, and your father is his." she said, and paused. "Well, your father isn't his to begin, but still..." she murmured. "I take care of him now." she said to Cade, smiling lightly.

Jax blinked. "Like, how you take care of me?" He asked haughtily. "I thought you just mean for the time being..." He stared over at his half brother. "I don't want you to take care of him." He muttered, eyes shadowed.

"I will take care of Cade, for the time being, but I will always take care of you Jax." she said, smiling, nosing him lightly between the shoulder blades. She then nosed Cade on the top of the head lightly.

"So he's gonna leave?" He asked immediately, glaring at Cade. "He's gonna leave soon an' leave us all?"
Cade shrugged. "Maybe I should just go. Jax doesn't want me here." He said, staring at the ground.

"No. Not yet. I wont let you, not either of you. Not until you can fend for yourselves, not until you are a teen." she said to the two. "Cubs can not easily fend for themselves. Teens can." she said.

"Huh... I wonder who was fending for me when I left home." Jax muttered moodily as he flopped his head down. "An' I was on'y a kit back then." He added to himself with a flip of his eyes.
"Oh, okay." Cade said, secretly relieved she had rejected his suggestion so swiftly. He hadn't quite liked the idea of wandering about on his own, with hyenas about.

Synda had quietly listened to all that was happening. Jax was denying his brother..atleast he had one! She looked down slightly remembering what had happened to her family. The tan cub looked on at them with curious eyes afraid to get any closer because of the blue female. Maybe joining this pride was a bad idea..but she didn't have any where else. Maybe she should stop hiding away in her shell...Synda sighed a little and settled down in the corner of the cave. She messed with her green tail feathers out of boredom as her flakes waved. Her chubby paws went through the feathers of her tail as she tried to look busy, but actually quite bored.

Jax shrugged. "Well, I'm not going anywhere. If anyone's gonna leave, it should be Cade."
Shey looked over at Synda curiously, watching her playing around with her tail feathers. She looked innocent enough - it was a wonder was Brooke was always so cautious and distrusted anyone she thought wasn't completely trustable.

She felt a pair of eyes upon her. Looking over slightly, she noticed the sister of the blue lioness staring at her with curious eyes. Synda gave a little gasp, and quickly looked back down inspecting her tail feathers. She pawed at them a little before putting her attention to the dirt. Unsheathing one of her baby claws, she scratched at the terrain a little making markings. She was trying to make herself look busy as well as busy herself from the thoughts spinning in her head. She had already been accepted by the pride leaders...why did she still feel so left out?

Shey smiled. It was so cute how she was pawing at her feathers. She'd never seen another cub do that before. She, for one, had never been a lion to actually want to fondle about with her tail feathers. Shey went over and nosed at her curiously. "Are you really from the Outlands?" She asked the cub, flopping down beside her.
