He watched her, he didn't want to listen to it even though he knew it was true. He just liked to argue, perhaps he just didn't like his power pushed. Though he couldn't really place what he was feeling at the moment cause it didn't feel quite like that...
He watched as her moods changed like the current of the most massive of waters. Serious to teasing, she should stop that....but it kept him interested in continuing a conversation for awhile. Though he would have liked to have a more serious conversation.
"If you insist." he dismissed her comments of him touching her to relieve her illness.

Ah, well that was rather anti-climatic in terms of her attempt at teasing. Instead of becoming flustered he had simply dismissed her light humour as nothing more than a hinderance. Hmph, well she could only assume that this was yet another shield erected to protect him from whatever external source and thread that she now presented to him. Perhaps it was just her overall personality in general that scared him - she had been told before that she could be very up front?
That being said, he had dismissed the advice she had given him and true to her word (and that of her father) she would let it lie. There was no point pushing someone into something, they would only resent you and would learn nothing from it in the long term. And so, Sparkles could do nothing more than pray to the spirits that maybe Mr. Sunshine would loosen up and realise that the past was just that.
Nevertheless, to change her often unpredictable moods would be to change Sparks completely. Never one to dwell on an issue for long it was hard for her to maintain a serious conversation unless the other soquili (or animal) brought it up first. If he wanted an indepth and intellectual conversation he would have to start the topic up himself!
"I'm glad you agree," she added smoothly as she drifted towards the river with a somewhat bemused smile.

[[I had a huge post but then it said Invalid mode specified so a short one is now... ><]]
His brows furrowed, he didn't understand her. Perhaps thats why he liked her. She wasn't easily read like others, like he had thought she was in the beginning. No she seemed to be a little more complicated than that, and seemed to have morals of her own on top of good advice. He walked in silence however debating these facts, wondering what was going on through his mind...his body. He couldn't quite place it, it was odd. He couldn't stop it and perhaps thats what irritated him most.
As he walked he listened. Listened to the nature around him...the faint rustle of tree branches in the wind, the dancing grass and the faint sound of rushing water. Destination...he wasn't to complicated. He was rather simple, it was just finding out how to understand how he worked.

Ares may have viewed himself as simple but to Sparkles he was a puzzle. It was something she enjoyed, to her all males were the same in that regard and it was fun to try and piece each one together. Granted, sometimes the results weren't always what she would have liked but sometimes, when all the pieces finally fit together she was granted the rare privilege of viewing an absolute masterpiece. For that reason, she was patient...or at least it encouraged her to steel her resolve in terms of such things.
Nevertheless, it was unfortunate that he chose now to fall quiet. She had been enjoying his rare bouts of humour and while she could only assume she had accidentally dredged up some unwanted memories (that he had to mull over right this second) she was a little disappointed. He looked nice when he smiled, now he just appeared to have an even darker thunder cloud over his ears.
"You'll give yourself a headache if you hold your face like that for too long," she mused as if to no one in particular and broke into a tentative trot as she heard the sounds of rushing water. It was only as she caught sight of it that she gave a flick of her tail and barrelled into it in the most unladylike of fashions!

[[My computer hates me...it did it AGAIN]]
He watched astonished at her sudden movement. He picked up his own speed except when the brush was less dense thick he outstreched his wings and moved them with the wind. Lifting himself over the water in and above until he just stopped....
If his face wasn't so straight it might have looked as if he had forgotten how to fly as he just plunged into the water. He had been here before, he knew where the depth of the water is so he wouldn't scrape himself up...or at least not bad.
He hadn't had time to say anything to her before she took off so if she wasn't wet enough already...there wouldn't be a dry spot left on her now. Ares himself had gotten to his hooves after the 'great fall' as Cynara called it. And looked to her with those blue eyes that seemed to grow soft. Perhaps because the minutes they had spent together had turned to hours.
They had met in mid morning but now it was past noon. He hadn't been accompianed this long unless it was teepee mates. His beaded tail flicked, silver beams shot from under the water. He looked to the water to see his reflection...he could tell he looked different. Could anyone else?

Well, had he scratched himself up then she would have granted her aid. Her horn was there for a reason and she wasn't against nuzzling an individual until they were fully healed. That being said, as he resurfaced he would discover a rather stunned unicorn staring back at his softening gaze - apparently she hadn't quite expected the great plunge and consequently...she had become a drowned rat long before she had intended to.
For a brief period of time, one could have safely assumed that she was at a loss for words. The stallion had reacted in a way she hadn't even imagined, launching himself head first into the river. For a slight moment he seemed to be so like a child...it gave her a rather rare insight in to what really lay beneath those walls.
"You're lucky I can swim," she mused at last, offering a bemused smile as she waded a little deeper in and released a sigh. As the cold water washed over her scabs she felt the itching subside and was much more content to lounge about in here. "But I suppose I'll let you away with it this time," she teased, though her eyes held a twinkle.
It was clear that she had something in mind though - a water fight perhaps? That being said she couldn't dwell for too long as he began to stare at his own reflection in the most unusual way.
"Are you all right?"

His head lifted slowly as her words brought him back. He nodded, "Yes," his mind dwelled he had heard her words but could he recall them...
Yes.
He walked closer to her, his ebony wings dripping clear water droplets back from which it came. Closer. A slight breeze tickled his ears and made them flicker. Closer. He looked into those soft, twinkling eyes of hers.
"You'll let me away with it everytime," he replied in those low, silken tones. He winked as he turned her back to her as if reading her mind he turned his shoulder and flicked that braided tail at the water making it fly into the air again...mostly at her.
It was rather amusing to watch one be so serious, almost romatically teasing to go back to a oblivious and playful state. In all essence the young stallion Ares could only be described as one word, wild. Though he was changing, perhaps for the better.

He was right, he would get away with it any time he decided to drench her in water. Perhaps it was because she was of a playful nature herself and enjoyed such things or perhaps it was something else. Regardless, being drenched wasn't something that concerned her - it was only water after all and on warm days it was extremely refreshing. Granted, lately the weather had been a lot cooler but she could cope, it wasn't that hard to warm up again if she rolled about in the leaves for a while.
That being said she fell silent as he murmured to her in such unlikely tones and simply watched as he did yet another unexpected thing. Flicking his tail he unceremoniously doused her in water and she could do little more than squeal. A typically girlish response but she bounced back and released a giggle, shaking her mane ever so slightly to rid it off the water that began to seep over her neck slowly and in a fashion that might cause it to itch.
"You have terrible manners!" She chastised him, her tone teasing as she waded further in and began to swim across. Her hooves pumping beneath her, she was glad she had such fluffy feet as they caught the water much better than most.
"Soaking a lady, and one with such scars no less!" She shook her head and gave a rather haughty snort before smirking, "You shall be punished if you do not apologise."

He laughed.
Almost melodic, but deep...genuine.
It wasn't in jest either, but in humor. "Really?" he inquired as he turned to her. He rose a brow, "What exactly is my punishment, ma petite?" his cool life like eyes watched her curious..
She wouldn't do anything, but maybe splash him back. He was already wet though. He could feel his thick mane clash with the snow like white of his pelt.
"I know I do, maybe I like having no manners. Makes everyone have low expectations." he smirked.

And there it was, that gentle laugh that made her ears perk in response. Just as he had smiled before (and quickly hidden it), he had shown that he had a hidden side to him and when he was comfortable he showed it. In a way she was honoured to be a part of that moment and choosing to keep her comments to herself she did nothing more than smile back. Really, when he laughed his entire face lit up and made him so much warmer and so much more approachable.
A nuzzle wouldn't have gone amiss.
"Well, punishment can come in many forms and while I don't think that me not talking to you would work on you..." she'd done it before, given someone the silent treatment but it had only lasted five minutes (she had little staying power) but he had ultimately commended her for the effort. Just as well her father had a good sense of humour and praised her for anything she just tried to do...others would have called her stupid.
"So I guess the only form of punishment would be -" Coiling her tail, she spun herself round and used it as a way to whip up the water towards him. It didn't have just as much grab as his tail did but it was enough to send a shower towards him as opposed to a wave.
"A water fight!" She cooed delightedly before pulling a face. Her sudden jerk, such a simple head movement had caused just a bit of pain and she couldn't hold back the wince.
"Well...a tiny one at least?"

He shook his head..."Not for you, you'll end up killing yourself before you end up winning. Perhaps another time when you are less wounded." he stated it rather than questioned it. He was sure of himself.
He treaded back over to her and made it so she would have to go back to where she could at least touch the pebbles at the bottom of the water. He didn't want her over extending and tear wounds, making fresh ones. That or she could run into him.
"Go on," he replied, without giving her a choice. As if he were taking control of the situation at hand...when there wasn't one really. Just caution for the future.

He was acting like her father! Well, in a way...It was the way in which he warned her. He didn't necessarily tell her 'No' in an outright fashion but did respond by subtly hinting that now was not the time nor place to be acting like a child. For all her ways, she knew when someone had a point and while she wasn't thrilled at surrendering her chance for potential fun she could do nothing more than offer a smile.
One gentle sigh later and she gave a slight nod, spinning round slowly in the water so that she could move back towards more shallows. While she doubted swimming would have torn her wounds open she would sooner her company was in good spirits as opposed to worrying. For this reason and this reason alone she did as her told, and it wasn't long until her hooves touched the pebbles again.
"I'm not that badly wounded, just stiff," she argued in a bemused fashion, canting her head to the side as she took his 'alpha male' role. It seemed he switched moods more quickly than she did though she doubted he'd ever admit that!
"If I was badly wounded I'd still be lying on the floor!"

Ares just shrugged his shoulders at her as he dipped his muzzle into the water and looked down to the clear liquid as he exhaled he was amused at the bubbles that came to the surface and the noise that it made...
At time he did act some what immaturely, perhaps becaues it was because he matured to quickly to survive? He skipped over his foal hood to stay alive with his adoptive unikalona mother. He flicked his braids as he looked back to her blowing bubbles.
It was cute how he argued...though it wouldn't get anywhere with the bull headed stallion. No femme was going to make him do things he didn't want to do. Hmff.
But she wasn't doing that, so he supposed it was okay.

Immature didn't quite cover it, the stallion was acting like a child! Then again, Sparkles acted like a child on a regular basis and had always taken the stance that people could do whatever they wanted provided they were happy. Well, she took that stance to a point...When lives were at risk then she would transform into the voice of reason. She may be playful but she knew the limits.
Simple pleasures were always the finest.
He seemed reasonably content to blow bubbles at her in some peculiar fashion as opposed to replying to her argument. Maybe he was done talking to her or perhaps he was trying to break up the monotony of talking to someone for an extended period of time - she wasn't sure, he was a hard one to read.
That being said, Sparkle's could be terribly imposing and insistant whenever she was frigthened. This was most often seen during the night but for now she was in a reasonably content state, the sun hadn't gone down yet and wasn't even setting - when it started then she would hunt for her companion.
"You'll have to come up for air eventually, you know."

The white stallion just simply watched her, his orbs wandering back and fourth. He was an odd one. He liked to keep others on edge. His ears flickered as his head turned over his shoulder. He had thought he had heard something...perhaps he was just being paranoid. But that usually wasn't the case.
He was able to breathe at least. He had heard of soquili that lived under water. That was intriguing. So was that how it went? Soquili dreamed of flying, and winds dreamed of the sea and did the sea dream of land? This would be discovered some day by him. He was determined at the least.
"What was that?" he asked. He had seen some flicker of terror or fear fly through her eyes for just a moment. This was Ares expertise, the eyes were indeed the window to the soul thats why he used to keep them so guarded...until now.
