Alphonse hurried after his brother, anxious that he was going to do or say something stupid or dangerous. Again. Brown-gold eyes flicked to Sloth, a mixture of confusion & surprise filtering in. "Sorry..." Why was he apologizing? He just didn't like anyone getting upset. He watched his brother pushed the doors. "You're not human?" Really... why was anything still surprising him?

"Nope, Ain't human." Sloth's eyes flickered with amusement. "Never have been, never will be. Got a few tails y' aint actually seein' right now too."

The doors of the tower are never locked. Ever. >] So they open quite easily. If Edward planned to push them open so hard, he MIGHT just fall on his face. But then, that wasn't the resident's problem, was it?

Beyond the doors of the tower are an entrance hall, a living room and several doors and corridors. >] The tower is MUCH bigger than it looks on the outside.

The first thing the Elrics will see will be a warm completely NORMAL living room. With soft armchairs and pillows, a fireplace, an entertainment system and some bookshelves. As usual, there'll be plenty of people minding their own business, but then Sloth gestures to a corridor.

"Thataway, and take th' elevator, eh? She's on th' 7th floor. An' probably up to her ears in paper work."

A few tails? Well now that was just weird, but then Edward was paying more attention to the room they entered more than Sloth. The blonde taking a moment to look about their surroundings and notice all the doors and corridors. He heaved a sigh, "Great..." they could surely get themselves lost in here.

However, he turned his attention back to Sloth as he gave them directions to get upstairs. A blank look was given, "Elevator?" What in the heck was that?

Sloth's eyes flickered with amusement.

"Never seen an elevator before? Heh. May as well show ye. Come on then."

She led the way to what looked to be a small empty room with a single wall of... glass(?) which allowed people to see the outside of the tower and surrounding areas.

This room was oddly enough, NOT VISIBLE from outside the tower though if logic were to be followed, it should have stuck out like a sore thumb. But then, given that the outside of said tower looked somewhat ancient and the inside of the tower looked like some sort of plush expensive hotel or mansion, that WAS another one for the books of WEIRD..

It had the normal two side walls (but why did they have rails) and oddly REALLY thick soft carpets one could almost sleep on, the front was enclosed with a glass door which had no handle, and oddly enough a pair of buttons on the wall. One button was green, the other was red. She pressed the green button which lit up as the glass door slid open. Stepping in, and jabbing a finger to hold down a button on the panel inside, she glanced at the pair. "You guys coming in?"

More tails? Well there were creatures he had seen at the house in the woods with multiple tails so maybe that wasn't that weird. Here. Besides... once he gave himself time to think about it -he was part cat and Ed was part dog, so they weren't 100% human anymore now were they?

Maybe this lady Dji had answers for that too.

Al shook his head... he'd never seen an elevator. Not even in the cottage that was bigger inside than outside, that had a magic door that went everywhere -even to a room just like in the Rockwell house- had he seen or heard of anything called an elevator. The differences of inside to outside did not throw him off as much as they would have though because of his previous experience... though the glass walls with their one way moving did. He took a step back, then hastily hurried forward with wide eyes at the elevator as he joined Sloth inside. "What... what is it? An elevator."

Edward followed Sloth to the elevator, looking it up and down before entering. He frowned thoughtfully, thinking that maybe he had heard of devices similar to this thing, but he wasn't entirely sure. Bits of his own memory were fuzzy too after all. Either way... Edward was just wanting answers to their questions, and seemed to be in a bit of a brooding state of mind. Arms folded as he came to stand inside of the elevator, waiting for whatever it was supposed to do once his brother joined them.

He had to wonder... what this lady Dji was like, and it seemed he would be finding out soon enough.

A panel of buttons with odd sigils flickered to life as both siblings finally got on the conveyance and Sloth pressed a specific sequence of them. The glass door closed behind the pair and the room began to rise, not too fast, not too slow, just a gentle feeling of displacement. The results outside the windows and glass door however were vastly different. Hallway after ornately furnished hallway with lots of doors were shown through the glass door, while out the window, the trees got progressively...smaller, as if from a great height. This is probably one of the few times Edward could look DOWN at people, but Sloth didn't make a comment. Even though she wanted to.

Once the seventh hallway had been reached, the elevator stopped moving and the glass door slid open, the elevator obediently waiting for the occupants to get off. Sloth gestured to the seventh door. "Her office is over there. Mind how ye go."

Why was he bothering to ask questions? Not that Al had much time to think about that as the room they were in moved and rose causing his eyes to widen. He was startled only for a moment, before his gaze went outside & he figured out what this 'elevator' did. It was kind of like when his brother & he made transmuted pillars to lift them up. It was kind of nice, watching the ground get left behind without having to focus on a transmutation.

When it stopped Al gave another look at their guide, quite unable to make judgment or even really form an opinion. He gave a dip of his head and shoulders & a small "thank you" before stepping from the elevator. His eyes followed the Sloths pointing finger, counting the door as the seventh. Seventh floor... seventh door? Shrugging to himself inside Alphonse gave Ed a 'well let's go' smile and headed towards the door. In for a little, in for it all...

1.... 2.... 3.... 4.... 5.... 6.... 7.... Swallowing, Al knocked on the door.

Edward too was looking out the window with some amazement as they rose higher and higher along the building, the trees getting smaller. This was certainly any interesting contraption. It was a good thing that Sloth didn't comment either, otherwise he would have had to show her a thing or two. After all, he was quite sensitive about his height!

When the door opened and the directions given, Edward passed Sloth by in an aloof manner and didn't offer any words of thanks while his brother did. He just strode up to the door, jamming his hands in his pockets and looking expectant as his brother knocked.

"The door's open!" a rather muffled male voice shouted back and the sounds of... rustling? a few minutes later, the door was indeed opened...

Unfortunately this sudden lack of a barrier caused a veritable sea of paperwork to well... slosh out...like waves of an angry ocean, reaching out to engulf the unfortunate siblings and Sloth who by then was standing by their side.

>.< "Well, I did kinda tell ye she was buried up t' her ears in paperwork, din't I?" a mental doublecheck for a few minutes.

"...I didn't did I? Sorry, 'bout that... Man, one o' these days, I'll prob'bly forget me own head next!"

Al went to put his hand to the handle cautiously at the male's words, guessing that meant he was supposed to open the door. However his gloved hand hovered just short of actually touching the knob at the unexpected sound of moving papers. Lots of moving papers.
His feline ears flicking curiously at the sound.

Then the door was opened from the inside.

The younger brother gave a soft startled yelp as papers ]flowed from the open doorway, brown-gold eyes going wide. Startled eyes went to Sloth with a shot gaze. Even if he had told them, Al never would have guessed it was literally! How could anyone even do paperwork in such a situation? Then he shot a look to his brother, not really asking anything just ... at a bit of a loss of what to do next. Try to go in? Setting his chin Alphonse put his hands in front of him, shifting papers from his waist so he could force his way through the papers against his legs as if he was packing a path through the snow to get inside the room. "How could anyone have so much paperwork?" Shock was still prominent in his voice, but also his inherent sympathies were being evoked and showing through. No one should have to do this much paperwork... maybe he could help? It couldn't be much more difficult then studying or putting a library back together... could it?

Edward's reaction was about the same as his brother's, eyes turning as wide as saucers as a sea of papers practicly buried them both, a startled shout coming from the shorter of the two. Edward finding himself buried up to his middle in the paper. He hadn't thought it would be literal either! "And Mustang thought he had it bad." Yeah, despite all the paperwork the colonel claimed to have, it was nothing like this! Al's question was answered with a, "Beats me" and he tried to wade through the papers only to realize.. he couldn't, "Can't... move..." he grunted. A vein popping out of his forehead as he heaved a sigh and clapped his hands together. Blue blots of energy surrounded Edward and the papers and in a flash, the mess was suddenly piled in neat stacks within the hallway and the room in which they wished to enter. Leaving the way clear for them to move freely.

In the center of the room which was PILED FULL OF PAPERS, in the temporary clearing that Edward had made, were three people. The first, was a tall, devasvastatingly handsome by normal standards, male with red-streaked black locks and red slitted eyes, who was gracefully if precariously seated crosslegged on a set of piles of papers at least waist high. He had a pen behind his ear, his tongue was sticking out and he was rapidly grabbing, reading and filling in blanks on several papers with a pen. He glanced at the newcomers.

"Sloth, make yourself useful and start helping with the breedings paperwork."

Sloth frantically shook her head. "Oh, no, I ain't doin' it!"

The second, was a male who had purple-streaked midnight black hair, slitted blue-violet eyes and black skin, who was also working on papers. He was apparently stamping away on several sets of papers too. If the piles beside him were any indication, he'd been working for hours if not DAYS or WEEKS now.

....and thirdly was apparently an animated pile of paper which was...whimpering?
PostPosted: Sat Dec 01, 2007 11:37 am
The younger brother sighed and cast a sheepish smile and look of thanks at Edward. Now why hadn't he thought of that? But... he couldn't suppress a grin at the thought that sprung to mind of General Mustang in an office full of mounds of paper like this was. Or even piles of paper such as it was now. "Thanks, Brother." He said with a smile as they walked into the room.

Besides wondering how the one with red streaks was balanced on papers -well... Al could probably too if he practiced, but it really didn't seem to be a rational thing to do- the young alchemist was a little uncomfortable with the male's half-naked attire. In an office. It just... didn't seem right. They looked similar to each other, maybe they were brothers too? Some of the siblings Sloth had mentioned?

Those quick thoughts were overcome with sympathy and worry (again) at the sound of a whimper from what seemed to be a pile of paper? Alphonse dashed forward, moving towards the sound and motion. His mind concluding that the person hidden must be the lady Dji... for the only others in the room were clearly male. "Are you all right?" Al asked with concern, starting to move the pile to reveal the short female behind the stack. His brown-gold eyes flickered with sympathy & kindness, not even looking at the papers he moved.

... until the name Trisha Elric popped off one of the papers, catching his eyes. The younger brother stopped, hands shaking as he picked up the top paper off the stack he had just moved.

Staring Alphonse read the paper he held. "Request for the re-embodiment and resurrection of TRISHA ELRIC and HOHENHEIM" Brown-gold eyes scanned the paper over little details and office jargon until catching on a line that stated "Trisha REFUSES to come BACK unless HOHENHEIM and her sons are with her" and filling with tears. That'll upset Ed... he's always mad... about Dad leaving... or talking about him coming home... Aloud he only said in a quiet and slightly shaking voice "How... How is this possible? Where is the Equivalent Exchange? Why do this?" Unspoken the pained thought continued: why bring us back if we were dead?

Edward just gave his brother a grin at the words of thanks for clearing the papers. It was no big deal really. When they entered the room, Edward paused to look around and ended up staring oddly at the two strange guys that were in the room with them, particularly the one with the black colored skin. It was while Edward was giving him this odd look that he heard the whimpers from beneath the paper and then seeing his brother run towards it to unbury the hapless soul. Curiously, he meandered over, but that curiousity was shifted when Alphonse picked up a paper and started to read from it.

The blonde's eyes went wide... this day was just full of surprises wasn't it? Edward snatched the paper from his brother's hands and read it over himself. Teeth clenched and a growl rose up in his throat as he stared at the paper, as if it was the culprit when infact it was the person who wrote it. "Is this some kind of joke?!" he snapped, glancing between everyone in the room except his brother, wanting answers. One thing was for sure... their parents was a particularly sensitive subject. Edward was sick of all these surprises... of these people seeming to know stuff about them that they shouldn't. He wanted answers dammit, and he wanted them NOW!
