Linnea bounced forward and moved through the trees. She moved quickly but being so small, she had a small gait forcing her to take more steps to get to where she wanted to go. Looking around curiously, Linnea wondered which way she had come from. It was no use pondering that anymore because she obviously couldn't remember. It was best to make as much ground as possible. But then she turned around and looked at Andor. He looked... unhappy and tired. Frowning once more, Linnea felt horrible. She was such a nuisance, her parents wouldn't be happy with her and it didn't seem like she was doing Andor any good. "Andor..." She paused wondering if she should even say anything. "You kind of look tired. Are you sure you want to come with me? You don't have to. I can take care of myself."
She couldn't help but wonder what Andor was thinking. He clearly didn't think the same way she did and she wanted to know what was going through his head right now. Linnea didn't quite understand everything yet but she was a very perceptive foal. She knew that once they parted ways, which was inevitable, she would never forget this encounter and it would probably highly influence the way she turned out when she grows to an adult.

He was tired, yes, but not completely witless. The stallion knew that leaving the foal to fend for herself would have been a big mistake. Surprisingly enough, Andor had begun caring for this little one, or especially the safety of her... it'd been a long time since he had warm feelings inside. It could have been her innocence or his loneliness creeping up on him, but Andor felt he had to be the hero of the day and save the lost foal. Then, after she was safely tucked away with her... parents... he could continue his life as if nothing had ever happened. Though, once again something buried beneath many different emotions tried to sneak up on him. Realization finally hit him and he scowled at the ground, he was getting attached... he was going to miss her...
Feelings, bah, he didn't have any left! He was just fooling himself.
"Take care of yourself...?" the stallion chuckled, "...so what if a hungry wolf comes along... hmm...?" he questioned, trying to keep his attitude as pleasant as possible. If she cried again he didn't know what he'd do... The wolf question was just to scare her, for he didn't guess any wolves were lurking hoping for some crunchy foal. Skinwalkers and other evil, vicious, creatures, well... he didn't really want to think about them at that moment.
As they stood still to talk, Andor's tired eyes glanced over at a few trees close to them, there on the ground were a few broken twigs from the branches. He knew for a fact there hadn't been anyone in the clearing besides him in quite some time so he hoped... he hoped... Andor moved to the side, eyeing Linnea carefully as he moved toward the trees. There he spotted several tiny hoof prints in the drying mud and shook his head, smiling just a tad. "Here Little One, do these look like yours...?" he questioned softly, his nose pointing toward the hoof prints in the drying muck.

Linnea watched Andor curiously as she continued to bounce from tree to tree wondering if she left any marks that could tell them she was here at one point in time. She knew that she was probably going to miss Andor when they parted ways but she would see him again... right? Pushing those thoughts out of her head, Linnea concentrated on the task at hand. The little foal had never heard of wolves or skinwalkers or even kalona actually. Though, she did know that there were dangers in the world, she never thought she'd actually have to deal with them. That was the innocence of a child.
"A... wolf? What's that?" She stopped and looked up at him curiously. She really had no idea. She couldn't cry about something she didn't understand. Linnea walked over to where the tiny hoof prints were and a huge smile appeared on her face. "Yes! Those are mine!" She paused to see if her hooves could fit into the print. "Yep, perfect match." Grinning happily, Linnea was glad that they had found the prints because she didn't want to be a burden to Andor any longer.
Bouncing along, the filly followed her footprints and then everything seemed to come together. She began to recognize the areas around her teepee and then she saw the buckskin teepee in the distance. "There it is Andor!" She stopped and smiled up at him. "So this good bye isn't it?" Linnea frowned unhappily as she thought about this.

He had to smile as she placed her hoof in the prints, making sure that they truly were a match. The little foal warmed his heart, perhaps because she was smaller but more intelligent than most or maybe all along he'd wanted some sort of company. It was a mystery he didn't care to solve and he sound found himself glaring at the ground with a hard stare. Feelings, they were supposed to be buried deep, he didn't want to have warmth any longer... He wanted the world to be numb, he didn't want happiness nor did he want pain. Whatever was in between he'd take it and never look back, as long as he never had to repeat that.... again...
"A wolf... some are friendly, most aren't," the stallion told her now with little emotion in his voice. She'd found her home and he no longer needed to take care of her. "Ask your parents if you're truly curious..." there was a long pause before he spat out the last bit, "...I'm sure they'll... tell you..." He knew she was going to go home and be tainted, he didn't want her to go but... it was for the best. He needed to be alone, needed to get these feelings and thoughts out of his head, he couldn't handle this...
"Yes, this is goodbye," he said, quickly, not wanting to make her think she should stay longer than she had to. He flicked his mane out of his face again, bloodshot eyes glaring down at her with mixed emotions. "You're safer here," he said, quietly this time, "So... run... run along home..." his voice cracked. Emotion again, this time overwhelming sadness... no... he didn't need this...
Without another word he turned away and began walking off, disappearing between some trees where he then stood in the shadows. He'd make sure the foal got home safely, only because... well, he didn't know why... but he'd be damned if he let her know he actually cared. So, there, hiding in the darkness, he watched the foal, making sure she truly did get home in one piece.

Wolves... That was a topic she really wanted to know about now. Curiosity killed the cat. Linnea looked back at her home and then back at Andor. Deep down, Linnea knew that Andor probably never wanted to see her again let alone have anything to do with her. The little foal continued to frown as they said their good byes. "I'll do that..." Andor was making her upset. She could feel tears welling up in her eyes again but she shook her head trying to make the tears go away. He began to walk away and she spoke quickly, "Good bye Andor!" She watched him walk off into the darkness. She didn't move for a few seconds but then she turned and walked towards her teepee. Linnea knew that her parents would be upset with her but her thoughts were too occupied to think about what her parents were going to think.
Approaching the teepee, Linnea called out, "Mooommy! I'm back!" She looked around wondering if her parents or anybody was around or not.
Chitsa emerged from inside of the teepee and looked at her daughter. "Oh my goodness. I can't believe you're alright. Aurorealis is out looking for you right now. I'll go tell your brother to go find him and tell you that you're back. You better have a good explanation." Chitsa looked at her daughter making sure that she wasn't hurt or anything. Everything looked about right but she could see a sort of sadness in her daughter's eyes. She didn't want to bring it up though. "Go inside the teepee and you'll have to tell me what happened."
Linnea nodded and looked down to the ground feeling ashamed of herself for putting her family and Andor through all of this. She turned to look back at where Andor had disappeared into the darkness and then walked into the teepee.
Chitsa watched her daughter walk back into the teepee. Before walking in, Chitsa paused to look around. Everything seemed... alright. Then she looked at the direction Andor was in and thought she could see something. The flutter shook her head and went inside the teepee. It was just her imagination.
