Mallow gave a nod as she listened, and then smiled more when she thought she saw a smile being etched onto his own face. With a bob of her head, she suddenly gave a quick preen of a few chest feathers, but looked back up a moment's later.

"You didn't breed Moth, you said?" she asked, and blinked her nictitating membrane before going on, "where ever did you get her? She's quite pretty, and I've certainly never seen a naturally white chirop before... other than yours, that is." She quickly sleeked her feathers though, and then added, "though I'm not very versed in Keeping or breeding."

She gave an almost sheepish chuckle.

"I've had her for many seasons, actually... She was a gift from another, so I don't quite know her origins, though I wish I could find out. She's been a marvelous help to me. More than most others could." He danced around saying her true purpose, for he did not like to make his health status completely known to everyone.

"Beetle and Worm are the only two that have white offspring... And not all of them end up that way, I must admit... Most the rest are a grayish or a light brownish... But the whites are lovely, mmm. Moth here, she was painted to match. She was originally a dark, dark brown. I feared her getting eaten.

All a matter of luck, though... You are a medic, you said?" He asked his question with slightly raised eartufts and a quizzical look about him.

As she had previously, Mallow nodded while she listened to him talk. "Mmhmm, white, brown, gray, either way I'm sure they're all quite lovely," she praised, and gave a short nod to seal the fact. She extended her neck slightly to have a closer look at the Chirop named Moth, but stopped at the last question and drew herself back to a normal stature.

Like his had, her eartufts raised, however she wore a mellow looked about her face compared to his quizzical expression. "Mmmhmm," she began, and repositioned herself slightly on the branch. "that I am, just as my mother before me... and some other relatives way back there I suppose," she paused for a moment and gave a slightly dirty look, "though I wouldn't go seeking them out personally."

"Poor at their duties or something?" He inquired curiously. The sudden dirty look did nothing but baffle the aberrant. He dipped his head and preened at his chest feathers self consciously, but his pale pink orbs remained on the medic and her chirop.

Moth had shrank under Mallow's previous gaze and quickly scrambled down and hid behind Odd's eartufts.

Mallow gave a laugh, though it wasn't one of the merry ones that she normally gave. "Oh no no, they're actually very good at what they do -- medics and apothecaries, those are the jobs that make up most of my history -- but no, they're of that pure blood, superiority, "old-ways" type of mind. Mmhmm, not very good company if you ask me." She shook her head, eyes closed as she did so. She opened them a moment later, though, and tilted her head.

"My mother and father, though, were the black sentinels of their families, and were of the open/new minded type of folk." Mallow gave a merry, kind laugh, her personality back to its happy ways. She didn't bother saying that she was like her parents, for that couldn't already be seen, well... that was a shame.

"Ah... I see." A question was bubbling in his beak and he fought ti keep it down by preening, but despite his efforts, it still slipped his beak.

"Is that why... You don't mind?" Her cheery demeanor seemed to only confuse the genetic anomaly further. Did she not worry about getting the white sickness? Maybe she would help him get better, if he could get better. He was completely unsure if it was something that could be helped.

Mallow canted her head far to the right. "Don't mind that you're an aberrant and will supposedly infect me with your 'white sickness'?" she questioned. "Mmmhmm, most likely."

She gave a merry, sincere laugh and righted her head. "I've never ever been one to judge another based on what they are, or what they can do, or any other thing like that -- you are what you are after I've known you for a while, and that's that." The Wildtype gave a sharp nod of her rust-feathered head.

"Oh..." The aberrant still seemed confused as he began to preen his chest feathers again. He was unsure of what to do or what to say, so he felt he needed to keep his beak busy with the mundane, yet calming task.

"Almost all sentinels are. Very few who aren't. Very, very few... I tried being a medic for a while. Even with what I learned, it didn't work out very well... Do you like your task?" There was a small tint of envy in his voice as he spoke.

Mallow nodded her head in a slow, sympathetic fashion to the rather grim fact that Yes, the vast majority of Sentinels did in fact fear and/or hate those who were aberrents and different. However, the Medic was not apart of that majority and she immediately perked up at the mention of her task and what Odd Winter had attempted at.

"You were a medic? Oh that's splendid, Dear!" she hooted excitedly and bobbed her head. It didn't matter if he wasn't one any more, for he was very skilled at his current profession; it was the mere fact that he attempted it that made some sort of pride or level of happiness rise in the Wildtype. She wasn't sure why, but that was something that didn't matter to her.

"And do I like my task? Well I'm still at it, so I supposed I do," she stated a few moments later with a chuckle when her earlier excitement had calmed. "I take pride in what I do and how I do it. ...Do you feel the same with your own current task?"

"Of course!" He replied with a soft, semi-cheerful hoot. He was no longer a medic, something he sorely regretted, but raising the little chirops had become an absolute joy. He tended to Moth, Beetle, Worm, and their offspring with as much love and compassion as a mother would her chicks. This would most likely be because they are like the little ones he most likely will never have.

"Nothing is more satisfying as seeing the little ones from my oak going out to serve their new masters diligently. It makes me glad to see such things."

Moth bobbed her little, white head with a matter of fact air about her and Beetle squeaked cheerily.

"It's never a dull moment about the oak."

The Medic gave a chuckle as she nodded her auburn head. "Oh I would believe that," she commented. With dozens of chirops around there was bound to be some sort of excitement.

At the squeaking from Beetle, Glaz canted his head and then gave an unconscious chitter at him.

"What with the storm, I bet you have many patients." Odd commented as Moth scrambled back between his eartufts to keep a diligent watch over this new sentinel and their surroundings.

Beetle and Worm both took this self conscious chitter as an invitation to chatter on at length and move closer to inspect the fellow chirop. They were a curious pair and wasted no time in trying to get to know him.

Mallow readjusted her wings in a shrug. "Not as many as I had expected, thank goodness. Though there has been enough small-time work -- cuts here and there, bruises, etc. -- that I've had to come up here to try and restock."

Glaz took half of a hop forward towards the two pale kindred and gave a young sounding squeak.

"That's good news, about the patients, I mean." He commented thoughtfully as he set his feathers carefully. "It could of very well been worse. It was a rough visit from the Thunderbird, that is for sure. Is there anyway I can help you with the items you need?"

He offered his help cheerily as he watched his chirops introduce themselves soundly. Unlike Glaz, they were not young, yet they weren't old either.

Mallow brightened at the offer and her ear-tufts perched themselves high on her head. She nodded her head lightly as she spoke,"mmhmm! That would be splendid! I've been looking for dandelions..." she let her voice trail off and she gave a slow swing off her head to look over her shoulder.

"...Which I left back at the tree. Oh dear. I'll have to get those later, I suppose," she said softly to herself. What a silly thing to have done! If she had lips she would have pursed them in show of a small predicament, but since she did not have lips, she drooped her shoulders for a second. "Oh well."

Glaz stretched out his neck and wiggled his nose at the strange pale couple.
