♔ Lol! Thank you! Well, it's go to be better than mine! The only thing I know for sure is tá & mé, lol. . . Maybe not so much.
I can read Russian, and speak a little. And I used to know some Japanese. So, (my point, lol) - how does the grammar work compared to English?

I mean, if I was to say "I'm going to get the dog"
would it be in Irish: "dog, I go get" or "dog the get to going I'm" or something? Lol! In Russian, the grammar is pretty close. As far as I can remember in Japanese - it isn't close at all.

Ta me ag dul go dti an madra a fhail....sort of lol I am going for the dog to get. It's often straight forward though. Dun (close) an (the) doras (door) - close the door = dun an doras.

♔ Madra - dog! I remember that! Lol. (- Anya's pathetic attempt to know more that 2 words. Remembering another. ) Lol. But, I suppose it'd be easier just to learn the language and not question it's grammar. Although, it sounds a little confusing. O.o Funny though. ^^ Lmao! ^^

It's not an easy language to learn I'm afraid. Generations of children have groaned their way through Irish in schools here, many other languages are WAY easier! Once you get a good vocabulary, it helps a lot, and learn verb tenses.

♔ Thank you for those tips! It seems like every person I know living in Ireland knows Gaelic / Irish, and I know I need to learn to move. Some people tell me I don't have to, but still. From the few things I learned
in Irish, was a little harder than Russian. But, I'm willing to dedicate myself to this! ^^ Do you have anything or any kinds of books that would teach me [the right way, lol!] ?

You most certainly don't need to know any Irish to fit in to Ireland biggrin , it is not that commonly spoken at all, but yes, everyone knows a little bit at least. I think the best way to learn would be to get some audio material, tapes or CDs or whatever, that teach it, like the Linguaphone system, so you can hear it.

♔ Well, they say Sligo is a "Gaelic Hot Spot" as they call it. Sligo is where my family is from, and where I'm most interested in moving. Perhaps it could be useful there? And I found this story in RTE news talking about how someday, Gaelic / Irish might replace English in Ireland? I don't know what that's all about, but almost all schools there are teaching it. It may be useful. ^^ I'm not sure if you mentioned a brand there, but do you know one? My Da said that videos and tapes would be better for Irish as well. ^^

If you can, get a hold of some Irish Muzzy Mhor videos. It's sorta like Dora the Explorer (but much older), teaches you the basics but i found it great back in Primary School. I would almost prefer it to some teaching methods (plus it was great to watch smile ). I guess with anything you have to walk before you run, getting too intensively into learning Irish could be counter productive. Learn the basics, the past/present/future tenses etc and learn them well. Then go onto more advanced studies

Any good comprehensive bookstore usually has teach yourself language books, and may have audio tapes too. Find out if there is anywhere in your local area that deals with language resources, or ask your local school or college where you might get hold of basic audio language courses. But for the moment, the vocabulary and tenses are really plenty to be getting on with. A good English/Irish dictionary will have the phonetics too.

Cravez - Don't you live in Ireland? I can't believe they'd show Dora the Explorer there! And Muzzy too? (I can't believe Muzzy teaches Gaelic either. I'll have to look into that! Irish, not Scottish Gaelic?) And thank you for the tips! I'll defiantly remember that!

Azyure - I'll defiantly ask around the campus. I have one teacher who is 100% Irish and goes there several times a year, and his best friend (also a teacher) who goes with him many times. They might know something. What I get; however, will defiantly be audio. I'm just scared I'll pick up Scottish Gaelic again, or some other form. They don't tell you anything on the cover / case! Just "Gaelic." [If I find one that says "Irish," can I trust it?] I was kinda thinking I could maybe get a book too for later? Maybe a school book from over there? All I need is a name.

I'm afraid I'm so long out of school, I don't know what textbooks are in use now, but those teachers you mention should have some useful information, for sure. Perhaps they could bring you back some next time they come here. I would be wary of anything that just says Gaelic on it, it's really Irish.

Here are a few phrases you can listen to

♔ Thanks anyway, I'll ask around maybe for some school books. Maybe I'll start a thread on the question or something.
And, thank you so much for the listen-phrases! It's a great site! I'm thinking about buying the software. It must be good! Sounds kinda fun too! ^^ (I still have to download the listening "apple" upgrade the hear anything though. . . Ugh, lol. The computer's conspiring against me for not getting "i-tunes.") Thank you so much! ^^
