Taro walked on the shores of a dark, barren island. At first glance, it looked like there really wasn't anything to see here. He simply shrugged and turned around to look at his boat. "Oi, I'm going to check this place out! I'll be back soon!" There wasn't any harm in looking around, since it was Taro' first time on this island and he was new to the island. A few minutes of traveling passed and eventually, Taro came to see a large prison-like structure set in the middle of nowhere. He took a step towards it, not noticing that he had stepped on a wire that triggered a loud alarm. Taro was startled, but aware of his surroundings. One by one, greedy-looking thieves came from their hiding places and appeared before Taro.

It was the loud alarm that startled Taro the most, not the thieves. He looked to one of the closest thieves with a concerned look on his face. "Oi! Turn off the alarm! It's loud!" The thief simply grinned and looked to his leader, a white-haired man of a strong build. He had swords painted upon his face, along with a nasty frown. "Hunt the prey." By his command, the thieves charged at Taro with a variety of weapons in their hands. "Eh?" Taro gave a confused look while he dodged the first attack. "Did I say something wrong?" He chuckled as he jumped up to grab onto a ledge, then pulling himself up. The thieves were too shocked to see that Taro had fighting skills like that to chase him any further. One of the thieves called out to their leader. "Oi, Needles! We found you a worthy opponent!"

Without a word, Needles scanned the area. Taro was watching him from little crevice in his new found hiding spot. "This Needles guy seems so serious." It was pretty dusty where Taro was; the thieves probably didn't bother cleaning up. Eventually, the dust was too much for Taro, so he sneezed. "Achoo!!" Taro closed his eyes and rubbed his nose. But apparently, Needles had even heard that small sound, as he was already making his way over. And he was close. Taro wondered if he was using some sort of technique, because he thought that Needles had found him pretty quickly. Emerging from his hiding spot, Taro faced Needles, who was already ready to attack. Needles came in for a close strike with his claws, but Taro was able to dodge it and retaliate. "So we're going to fight, huh? I'm fine with that." Taro grinned and recovered with a quick punch to Needles' face.

This punch not only caught Needles off guard, it also sent him flying backwards into a pile of rubble and rusted metals. It didn't do much damage though, as he quickly got up and hid himself. Taro turned and scanned the area, like how Needles had. "It's my turn to hunt the prey," he whispered to himself. Taro grinned and looked around, taking a few steps forward. Suddenly, Needles appeared from hiding and jumped toward Taro. Taro simply ducked to dodge the attempted attack and then performed a few backflips in order to gain some distance. He took a fighting stance and grinned. Needles seemed ready to continue fighting as well. "Really, did I say something wrong?" Taro chuckled lightly, remaining in his fighting stance.

Needles remained silent as he crouched low to the ground. Taro simply watched him, without a clue of what exactly he was doing. Suddenly, Needles darted forward toward Taro. "Crouching Strike!" It took him by surprise, so Taro was not able to fully dodge Needles' attack. He received a few cuts on the leg from his opponent's weapons. Taro frowned as he looked at Needles, who was already ready to perform the same attack. He darted toward his target once more, but Taro was ready this time and successfully dodged the attack by jumping out of the way. "That attack is pretty quick." Taro was enjoying the fight so far. He grinned and looked to Needles, who was again crouched.

Taro knew that Needles was going to try the same attack once again, so he was ready for it. Like before, Needles launched himself at Taro, ready to strike with his claws. Taro retaliated by jumping over Needles, like if he was playing a game of leap-frog. Then, Taro crouched down in the same manner and sprung forward, then making a dash towards the shore of the island. "Haha, see you!" Needles turned to glare at Taro. He wouldn't let Taro off so easy, so he began to chase him. Taro looked back to see that Needles was chasing him. It wasn't a bid surprise, Taro was ready for it to happen anyway. Once they reached the shore, Taro turned to face Needles one more. This time, Needles stood up straight and glared at Taro. Taro smiled. "I'm guessing that you're not going to let me go so easy, huh?" Needles simply grinned.

"Then I guess it can't be helped. I'll fight you." To Taro's surprise, sinister yet content grin grew upon Needles' face. It occurred to Taro that Needles was the kind of guy that loved to fight. So a fight is what he would give him. Taro took up a defensive stance and awaited an attack from Needles. Again, he crouched down and darted forward soon after. Taro thought he knew what was to come, but he was wrong. In mid-leap, Needles pounded the ground in order to lift himself into the air, spinning. He would aim to use his claws in a downward slashing motion. Taro looked up and jumped to the left in order to dodge the attack. Needles slowly tilted his head to Taro, pulling his claw from the small crater that he had just created from the attack.

After he had successfully pulled his weapon from the small crater, Needles cracked his knuckles. He then came at Taro with a mad dash. Needles began swiping his claws at Taro as soon as he got close. Taro managed to dodge each attack successfully, but had no room to attack, since his opponent was attacking so rapidly. Taro was being pushed back by Needles' attacks, which wasn't good. He needed to find an opening, so he began to think. But Taro was drawn a bit too deep into his thoughts that he got distracted, and was cut on the upper arm. He winced in pain as Needles kept on swiping his claws. Finally, Taro saw an opening.

Needles swung his arm from the side, so Taro ducked in order to dodge the attack. Quickly, he titled his head upward and wound his arm back. Needles couldn't react fast enough to dodge the incoming attack. "Yah!!" Taro's fist flew forward and into his opponent's stomach. The sheer force of the attack sent Needles flying backward into the sand of the shore. Taro grinned he stood straight, dusting his clothes. He looked to the fallen Needles, who didn't appear to be moving. Taro took a deep breath and began to walk toward his ship. He looked to Needles as he passed him with a blank expression. Taro knew his attack was powerful enough to fracture ribs, having been executed from point-blank. He simply sighed and continued to walk. Needles was out cold, Taro thought.

When Taro was almost to his ship, he heard something moving behind him. Slowly, he turned his head to see a weakened Needles slowly getting up. Taro grinned and watched him. "I like your determination." Needles glared at him, not saying a word until he was standing straight. "I've got nothing to lose." Taro smiled, then took a fighting stance. He would respect Needles' wishes and continue fighting until one of them admitted defeat. Needles swayed a little before straightening himself. It appeared as if he was simply ignoring the pain that he had just received. Taro was pretty impressed by that, but refrained from saying anything. He simply waited for Needles to make a move.

Needles took a breath and then lunged at Taro, his arms dangling behind him as he ran. When he got close, Needles swiped his arm from the side, to which Taro ducked. This gave Taro a good chance to attack. He threw a punch aimed at his opponent's stomach, though Needles was quick enough to block it with his other hand. Needles had a good grip of Taro' fist now, so he turned and spun, dragging Taro in the process. After spinning for a few short seconds, he finally released Taro, throwing him away and into the sand. Taro quickly got up and began to spit out the sand that had gotten into his mouth. He looked at his opponent, who was crouched and ready to leap. Taro was able to turn to face Needles before he jumped forward, aiming to strike Taro with one of his claws.

Taro jumped and dodged the attack, now above Needles. He extended his leg out and prepared an attack. Needles looked upward and sensed an attack coming. Taro then swung his leg at his opponent, though he was able to jump away to safety. Taro's leg snapped the ground just missing him, which made him spin slightly. When he reached the ground, Needles was already ready to attack once more. When he swiped his claw, Taro jumped backward and threw a punch. Needles easily dodged it and ran towards Taro. He swiped his claws once again, which Taro managed to dodge. When Needles swiped, Taro dodged and threw a punch that was in turn dodged. It seemed as though the two were currently in a stalemate.

Needles tried something new this time and swiped his claws from the side in both directions. Taro needed to think quickly, or else he'd be cut up pretty badly. He decided to jump upward and kick off of his opponent's chest, landing a few feet away. Taro grinned and threw a simple punch at Needles, aimed for his left cheek. But before he could retaliate, Taro stealth walked and appeared before Needles. He then struck him in the face with a close-ranged punch, which knocked him back and onto the ground. Taro landed and stood firmly on the ground. Needles got up and wiped some blood that had dripped from his mouth. Taro smiled.

He was overjoyed with the fact that Needles wouldn't rest until he defeated him. Taro respected this kind of determination, but he wondered what drove him to such lengths. Taro really hadn't done anything but look around. He shrugged it off and kept his mind on the battle. He didn't know how much more Needles could take, but he was willing to fight until he went down. Taro awaited for his opponent's next attack. Once again, Needles crouched low to the ground and prepared to perform his signature move. Taro grinned and did the same. Now there were both evenly matched with technique.

When Needles darted forward, Taro mirrored him and darted forward as well. Their hits would meet and they would both be pushed back a few inches. Again, they would both try the same attack. Taro crouched, and Needles crouched. Neither deterred in their stance. Taro grinned and sprung forward, followed by Needles doing the same. Both of them used each of their hands. Surprisingly, Taro was able to strike Needles on the chest. Needles fell to the ground, Taro stood straight. This time, Needles didn't get up. He was out cold for sure this time. Taro simply smiled though. He was glad to have had this match. Chuckling happily, Taro walked onto his ship and sailed to his next destination.
