And ahem, anyways back on subject, that evidence about Ashkenazim having the same types of skulls as the Mongols is no myth, it's true, and I have all the links to prove it, I am not making this stuff up. Deny all you want but I have the evidence to prove it. And also, on a lighter note, this probably explains why us Ashkenazim love Chinese food XDD. Please Please PLEASE stop fabricating things about one race being better (or "cooler", if you must) than another. If there is one thing banned in Judaism, it is superiority. Behatz, can you explain spotted d**k to this American girl? It is a British thing, right?
In defense of my country I will say that there is some culture depending on where you are. I'm a proud southerner (as you can probably tell because I bring it up so much) and I feel that our subculture is probably the most colorful in the country. Most of our traditions are borrowed (like Mardi Gras and Groom's cake) but they are still distinctly southern.
Most of us aren't the plantation ownin', slave tradin', white sheet wearin' southerners either. wink

It's not d**k in the perverse sense so there's no need to censor what I've written.
No, I didn't read the links but I'm not particularly interested in whether or not Ashkenazim come from Asian stock. Even if it is true they're Jews nonetheless and I don't see the point in arguing about it.

FireMiko-Kagomechan this probably explains why us Ashkenazim love Chinese food XDD. Yes, Ashkenazim all round the world eat bagels, speak with nasally New York Yiddish accents, use words like "shabbos" or "bris" and most importantly of all, eat Chinese food.

Oh my. Quite an interesting thread we have here.
Firstly, as a forensics guy, I'd be interested in knowing about how Ashkenazi Jews match up to the mongoloid DNA, bone, and hair structures (there IS a difference between mongoloid and caucasoid DNA, bone, and hair).
Secondly, as a Jew of Ashkenazi descent, I have to ask "who cares?" I'm a Jew. My ancestors can, supposedly, be traced back to one source. That said, I don't particularly care. We don't know my family's descent, because my grandparents on my mother's side were adopted, and I know nothing about my father's side of the family.
Thirdly, on the talk of Asia, I can say it's got its ups and downs. It's just like any continent. They have their positive aspects, and their negatives. For example, racism is rampant in most of the Asian nations. They, like all cultural groups, should be respected as humans. We should take the positives and emulate them, while dismissing the negatives. This applies to every single culture, though. By calling Asia cool, it is implied that other areas are not cool. This is a form of racism, yes. Please stop it.
On an interesting note, one of my girls is Japanese Ashkanazi. And a chef. <3 Azn and Jewish cultures aren't too different in the things they value. Community, study, tradition, positive action, etc. But I think that if you look at other cultures, you'll find these things are the common cores of human life.

I just meant that culture in America is unique, sure, but it has not had time to develop into its own entity. It is still closely linked to European culture, and has borrowed other parts from African and Asian sources. And was the spotted d**k reference a slight against someone or what?

And I know I understood that you weren't being rude. It is true that our country is young and it's hard for us to have a distinct culture considering many different races have migrated here with their various traditions. Maybe that is America's culture, the combination of all cultures rolled up into one.

I'm just telling about the cool history of us Ashkenazim. I think what Divash is getting at can be summed up by an earlier post by moi: "If there is one thing banned in Judaism, it is superiority. We suffered enough because of it." To suggest that Asians are "cooler"(/better) is to suggest that others are inferior. And as a further note, I would suggest rethinking your viewpoint on the Ashkenazi matter. It simply isn't feasible. Therefore it should not be refered to as "history" as history is a collection of facts.
