Autumn Fyhr Civilian13 wow...this thread seems to have died. i would like to revive it, but in a slightly different way. i liked Runa's idea of a rune a day, so instead of discussing tarot in general, why don't we take a look at the meaning behind the cards? we'll go in order one card at a time and see what different ways people interpret each card. lets start with the Fool shall we? Or you could just start a new thread, that seems like the way it should go to me, or I could just be crazy. Just crazy. wink
But I really love that idea. If anyone wants, I can actually do the "Tarot a Day" thing. I have the time and the knowledge, Plus what I don't know I can always look up.
I'll even throw in pictures of my Tarot cards while I'm at it, maybe even some types and advice about.
Someone just give me the okay.

You're more than welcome to start a tarot-a-day thread.
If you're going to use images for cards, I'd advise sticking to one deck.

um...it kinda was my idea, any reason why i can't start the new thread? specially since i am crew?
tarot card of the day is a bit limiting in my original idea. i wanted to have discussion on what each card means to you. card of the week?
also if we're going to do images from a deck, i do like the idea of sticking to one deck, however we would then be interpreting that deck and not the general idea behind the card. ie - rider waite is probably the most universal deck, but i personal dislike it...alot. so before we make the new thread why don't we try to decide on a deck? i have available, that i can scan each card as we go, the Gothic Tarot by Joseph Vargo and the Tarot of Pirates

Personally, I would just say no to pictures, that would make it fell limiting (to me anyway). Without pictures we will have to be more descriptive with our words and have to think about what we are trying to say. But this is just my opinion.

Well, well. We have run into quite a dilema, haven't we?
We could always use my own deck as picture reference along side another deck picters of other decks to show how several decks, no matter what the picture, will have around the same meaning. You know?
Unless of course we are talking about Goddess, Angel, or some other Deck that has specific and themed meanings.
We're going for the basic, correct? At first I didn't like the idea of pictures either Autumn, But I think it would be nice to allow them to know what they are looking at when reading the description.
I have a Revelations Deck that is basically just colorful and packed with symbolism that makes them easy to understand and read.
This being a spread I did for a customer a while back, It shows what I mean about the colors and such.
This being the close up.
I'll be more then happy to lend it to the cause. And they are basic, very basic that won't limit the mind. ^ ^ Of course, we will also explore other, more themed decks if this all goes swimmingly.
Civilian, I am also the crew. So, I don't know see how that gives you more right. I think the job to the one most fit for the job.
We need someone who can has grammar and spelling on point, As well as knowledge into Tarot and orginization. Creativity is a must.
If we cannot agree on who to give the job to, Maybe we should hold a contest or something of that nature.
But this is all just a suggestion.

Civilian, I am also part of the crew. So, I don't see how that gives you more right to make something then any of us. I think the job needs to go to the one most fit it, Not who has higher authority. Don't you? Not trying to be mean, I just want what's best for this Guild.

ah, i did not know you were also crew. i just thought being crew would help with editing and organizing of posts. why do they need knowledge of tarot? my original point was to help learn the cards and/or get different perspectives on the same card. basically pick a card, how do you interpret it? compare/contrast wow, are we putting to much thought into a simple discussion thread? smile it amuses me

Civi, Kayna and I are all friends outside of the internet and we were working on this because we want to make a tarot deck of our own. I believe, apoligies Civi, that it was originally my idea to bring it up as a discussion on the forums. Civi beat me to it, however, I had been planning to start a new thread for it.
I know that my knowledge of Tarot is fairly limited, until I expand it, so I will allow someone with greater knowledge to take point on this project. I am still looking things up out of the book for every card I draw.
Civi, Namikikyo, how about you two? Let's trot out our credentials for this, shall we wink .

Civi, are you trying to apologize to Namikikyo? I noticed that her picture is missing.
This is silly, let's get on Gaia chat and talk since we are all on. Namikikyo we would have to add you as friend if we were to do this.

Tarot based drama?!
As for the dilema over whether it should be a tarot a day or tarot a week, I personally would prefer weekly as it gives more time for discussion/idea collaboration etc.
You could also run a tarot library alongside, allowing people to list/describe their personal favourites, giving people a chance to see which might suit them, should they want a new deck.
