Caelum stood up as Kerosene started to leave. What was she doing? They were all wet already, and she wouldn't help anyone by catching a cold. Shaking his head, he settled back down. He had to stop being so overprotective. He'd only just met her and already he was fussing. With a glance at the very excited cub that was prancing around, he decided she probably would not want to witness a birth. It wouldn't be a pretty image. "Hey, Airi. How about we love your mother alone and we play for a little?"

Airi jumped up slightly in alarm, looking back at Patch. She wanted to help! But at the same time, her cub-like instincts were screaming for something fun to do. With a glance at her, she slowly nodded. "Sure, let's play!" With that, she bounded up to him and flicked him gently her tail. "Tag! You're it!" With a mischievous grin, she began to run deeper into the cave so he wouldn't catch her.

Kero met the lion and what apeared to be a young girl. She looked formillure as if she was the same girl that Kero had seen back at the temple when her pride traveled there for mating season, back when she had a pride. But that was a long time ago. The white strips on the lion's mane fit the discription Patch had told her when they first met. "Are you Kahawa?" she asked.

Meanwile Patch was becoming delushional. The lions around her looked like towering shadows with glowing eyes. Only the cold wet wind cooled her fever. "Kahawa, lets hope the storm brings us together just like old times," she said. Then she saw herself as a small cub running from the lightning and the wind. She was frightened.

Soon it became clear the glowing spots were actually a lioness! Kahawa had never seen such patterns and it amazed him. How strange... When the lioness looked at his companion he could read the recognation is her eyes. Did she knew the girl?
After that the lioness said his name. "Yes, I'm Kahawa. But how do you know that? I can't recall that I ever met you." He said with a confused look. Then there was a bright flash of light. Lightning struck the earth in the distance and a deafening rumble soon followed. Kahawa knew the lightning clouds could soon be above them. They had to find shelter. "We need some cover! Do you know nearby cave or something?" He asked the lioness with haste in his voice.

Darius followed the yellow-spotted lioness out of the cave. "I'll go investigate with her; I see something moving toward us and... well, I think I can make out the shape of a male lion, but there's somebody else, too. Not sure what it is," he called over his shoulder. Marne, the Da'lin, could take care of Patch, and he was sure that as vulnerable and exposed as she was, the fewer males there the better. Besides, the young female shouldn't go out in the rain alone; the storm was only getting worse, and she might be injured. Loping after her, he intersected her as she met the strangers. The male looked friendly, and if he'd heard right, this was Kahawa. "C'mon," he panted at both of them. "Patch is further along now, and if you're who I think you are, there's no time to lose! How fast can the two-legged one travel?" He pondered allowing her to ride on his back; he was strong enough to carry her, this he knew.

Kahawa saw another lion coming towards them. This one was a male. How many lions can be at one place?! He thought. When the lion told him the message he froze for a second. The cubs were coming, and they were coming right this moment. His body felt light of happiness but he also felt fear. Fear of what could go wrong. He had to see Patch now! He wanted to be there to support her. Kahawa went himself to the male again. "Don't worry about the girl, she's fast enough! Please bring me to Patch now, I'm right behind you!"

Kero let the two lions run along. She stayed with the girl. Somebody probably sould have, especialy a glowing lioness with a good sence of direction. They'd be at the cave soon. "You're from the temple, right? So, did Zahina send you?" Kero asked the girl.

Looking down at the unusually glowing lion, the girl merely shrugged on her way into the cave. "There is no time to explain." The long black hair to her waste was soaked and in one matted mess, but the girl didn't seem to mind. She was hardly clothed, deerskin by the look and smell of it. She padded through the room of lions without a second of fear, glancing only once at a particular one, narrowing her eyes. Da'Lin. She had no time to worry about it.

Moving up to patch, she soothed her, knowing that the pains were only just beginning for this one. Feeling her belly, she counted what she could and nodded somberly.

Getting into position, she looked up over the long torso of patches. "I'm going to need you to push for me. It's going to hurt, but you need to push." As she did, the girl did the most miraculous thing. Reaching inside around the crowning head, she pulled the first cub free. A spitting image of the two parents, green, with her fathers markings and a little patch of her mothers covering one eye. It immediately began to whine, and the girl placed it gingerly to the side for milk.

Continuing her work, the next cub that she pulled out, however, looked nothing like her parents. It indeed looked like a cloudy haze, with static electricity running over it. The colours matched those outside in the night sky perfectly, and bright yellow eyes opened knowingly. When he was placed at the side of his mother, the static stopped, though the haze remained.

Zahina help her, she didnt' have enough time!

Marne's head snapped around when the girl entered the cave and his features contorted into one of anger. A human of Zahina, and an unwelcome sight to him. He knew well what he was doing, and yet he was being overshadowed. He nearly rolled his eyes when the human girl did what only a human could manage to do, for his paws were much to massive to do such a thing, not to mention it would likely be very unpleasant for Patch.

Unhappily he stood at the sidelines, watching the kits come one by one. He had particular interest in the one who seemed to be conducting some form of electricity, but knew this would likely be the only time he'd see the cub. It was a shame, for such a unique cub could grow up to be something fierce and spectacular.

"You're going too fast." His voice rumbled, "She'll nearly pass out if you don't give her a break!" It seemed unsafe, the lack of time the human spent between the two cubs. This birth was unnatural, not like he'd been taught at all! Were they all insane? Even his kind, brute and cruel fighters as they were, needed birth to go naturally with time. He'd known the followers of Zahina had relied heavily on their god, but this seemed ridiculous to him.

Kahawa rushed into the cave. As he stormed in he could separate various shadows in there. More lions... He passed a large green male with small horns. Da'lin he knew. Kahawa gave him a quick, but warning glance. Now that he was here, the male shouldn't try coming near his beloved.

He went further down and found Patch lying on the ground with the girl next to her. Also whining sounds... wait, whining sounds? Kahawa came closer and saw two small cubs at Patch's belly. Joy spread throughout his body and a smile lit his face. The girl didn't seem done yet and Patch still looked in heavy pain.
Kahawa snuggled Patch's sweaty face. "Finally I found you dear! I was so worried! And you're doing so well. You have to bear the pain a bit longer, it will be over soon." He said in a soft, gentle voice.

The delirium faded enough for Patch to see the two blurry cubs and her beloved Kahawa. She nuzzled Kahawa gently then looked to the cubs. 'A girl and a boy?' she wondered. How wonderful. The girl looked so much like Kahawa and Patch. It was hard to believe. Then Patch saw the hazy little boy. Was he real? Or was Patch still seeing things? No, there was electricity on it at first glance. That can't be real. But he was so handsome. The two cubs were beautiful. Airi would be so excited to see a brother and sister. Patch licked the two cubs. Then she closed her eyes and collapsed from exhaustion. Was it over? Could she rest? Or was there more to come?

Sitting back a bit, she waited for the next cub to start showing it's head. The girl mindlessly twirled a part of her hair that fell down in the front. This was her job, but not often was it taken outside of the temple, or under circumstances such as this. She served Zahina faithfully, but some days she did not enjoy her work. It was hard, and tiring. At least back at the temple she had time.... she wasn't sure why there was the need for urgency, but she knew that if she didn't get those cubs out of there as soon as she could, something awful was going to happen.

That's when a second head began to crest. It had been a few minutes, and nature had run it's course. It was time for another. Inserting her small hands the way she had before, she gently pulled with the mothers contractions, and soon she held in her hand another miracle. A blue, farthest from any colours their parents could have created almost brightened the cave. As soon as she appeared, so did a floating ceramic pitcher. As the little cub opened her eyes, the water in the pitcher flew out and began twirling around the girls head playfully. Amazed, the girl watched as two goldfish shapes began to form in them, jumping around. As before, she set the cub down by her mother. As soon as she found a n****e the water went back into it's ceramic holder and sloshed around contentedly.

Feeling Patches stomach, a frown came, and a crease in her forehead. The fourth cub was crowning, but the fifth was breach. As she assisted the fourth cub, a male that looked almost precisely like his mother, with only a few visible marks from his father, she concentrated. The cub was too far back for her to go in after it yet.... nature was playing against the girl. She sent a prayer out to Zahina and sat back again, wringing the water out of her hair.

Kero put her paw to Patch's head. It was a high fever and if she didn't wake up things could be dangerous for Patch and the cubs. The electric cub had surprised Kero immensely but then a blue cub and a pitcher of water appeared she was startled. This was truly supernatural. Four cubs, each blessed and truly unique. So unique that Kero felt normal. The girl still looked worried. Was there another cub? Patch needed to wake up.

Sensing that Marne was angry about the looks and treatment he was getting, Kero walked to him. He was being kind and merciful. He showed the virtues of a Zahina lion. So, Kero smiled at him. "You seem to know health very well. I trust you. Patch needs to wake up. Could you help me? I think I should get a large leaf and use it to carry water to cool her fever. It would take two lions to carry it," Kero said. True the little blue cub seemed to have a control over water but it was only a cub, and at this moment it needed food.

Marne listened to the glowing lioness and considered her words. It was a good idea, and he could keep an eye out for any herbs that might help as well. He nodded to the female and stood, padding to the entrance to the den and looking back, waiting for her to follow.

"We should be able to find something suitable quickly if we head in that direction." He pointed with his tail to where the trees grew slightly denser. There would also be the best bet that he'd find a decent herb, even if it were just something to give her some energy to make it through the rest of the birth.

User ImageSaphira sat on a rock outside the cluster of caves. She welcomed the rain and was content with the chilling weather. Her face was stoic, but alert and vigilant, like a stone monolith. She blinked as the rain fell in her eyes and soaked her fur to the skin. It naturally sent shivers down her spine and she shook her body from her head to her hind legs, sending a spray of raindrops in every direction. She returned to her solid position and continued to stare into the distance. Her icy eyes caught a glimpse of movement and her head turned to see a green lion emerging from the cave below. Her white coat stood out in the darkness, but she didn't care. She stared at him intently and wondered what brought him to these parts.
