A moment of silence ensued after what Lance said to Armel and then the ram-horned boy nodded a bit, "Aye, I can see how that is. 'E seems sort o' sad to me or somethin'. I 'unno he's prolly just one o'those weird adult-types." It was his only explination that he could logically come up with.

Pales didn't seem to mind the threat of the hide harming upon Armel, and that was likely because the man was very sure that the boy would never be late unless something drastic happened and if required well explination would be made but never an excuse, "Fair enough, he likes spaghetti and ramen most, otherwise he isn't into anything really fancy. Meat and potatoes sort of child, really, he likes the simple fare." He smiled and shrugged, "Basically as long as it doesn't look all too foreign or strange he'll eat it right no complaints."

He watched Dragon and Morian interact chuckling a bit, "We all have our off days, but yes anytime you can't take Armel in for a lesson just let me know. Also if there is a payment required for any materials or whatever is needed let me know." He wasn't rich, but he wasn't dirt poor either.

Lance shrugged a bit with a sigh.

"Yeah, mum says she feels sorry for him. I dunno though. Seems to me he made his own choices and put himself in whatever hole he's in now," he mumbled, before shaking his head, "That wasn't a nice thing of me to say..."

He didn't apologize for it though, and for awhile, he didn't seem inclined to say anything more. It was in this silence though, that he remembered that they were supposed to be looking for somewhere to eat, and the clock tower's top didn't seem as far away as it previously had been.

"How far have we walked?" Lance blinked, turning around a bit to see if their parents were still in view. They weren't, and this had Lance slightly worried. Oh he wasn't worried about HIMSELF of course. Oh no, he was worried about his mother. After all, how could she protect herself without him?

Morian was about to say something about making Pales pay an arm and a leg for his services, but Dragonfly read it in the other's face, and gave him a sharp glare before Morian could follow through. His mouth hung open for a moment, before he snapped it shut again.

"Don't worry about payment," Morian finally said, "Consider it a favor,"

"From a friend," Dragonfly added, somewhat tersely.

"Right," Morian mumbled, looking to the ground.

Dragonfly sighed a little at Morian's antics, unable to help but roll his eyes. The other could be thouroughly rediculous sometimes.

"Well. This'll be where I make my exit. I've still got a long walk home and I'm starting to feel like a walking trash receptical. Or at least- I feel like I smell like one,"

"I'd say your aroma is more of a... a tar pit, really," Dragonfly mused, a soft smile on her features, "But thank you, Morian. From both Pales and I, I can presume,"

Morian gave Dragonfly a fleeting smile, before turning back to Pales, "Like I said, don't forget to get my number from Drago, and we can hammer out further details later. Nice to meet you, and goodbye,"

With no further words, Morian turned away from the two of them, and began to continue the walk home that had been previously inturupted. Not that he minded too much. After all, it made Dragonfly favor him, if only a little more.

Pales almost protested against it but let it go with a sort of a curt nod and a small smile, "Fine, have a safe walk home then." Then he glanced a little toward where Armel and Lance walked toward, his eyes squinting a bit before calling out toward Morian's retreating form, "Nice meeting you, and thanks a lot!" Obviously not scared of being thought of as a fool Pales jumped a bit, "I can still see them. If we hurry we can catch up."

Armel shrugged in response to the not-so-nice thing, "I am o'the same opinion I guess. It was not unnice as much as it was very blunt." He grinned a bit at his green friend.

He glanced around where they were, "Can't be too far. Want to wait for them here?" Luckily for them Armel and Lance had thus far been ignored by strangers, and he didn't seem too concerned for his Da'.

"That was far easier than I expected it was going to be," Dragonfly mumbled once Morian was out of ear shot.

She grinned rogueshly, before trying to catch sight of the kids with her good eye, but through all the shuffling people, she had extrodinary difficulty. She pursed her lips a little, not saying anything on her disabilty, unable to admit that she couldn't catch sight of the two, instead, she trusted in Pales to lead her onward.

"Lead on Pales," she grinned a bit.

"Yeah, sounds like a good idea," Lance grinned, "There's a bench right there," he pointed not far ahead of them, "We can wait there, and they'll be able to see us. After all, it's not hard to pick me out in a crowd,"

He chuckled a little, rubbing the back of his head.

Subconciously he registered that his hair was getting extremely long, but he really didn't seem to mind. However, he knew that he'd need something to keep it out of his eyes, sooner or later. Maybe a colts tail, or something...

Anyway. It wasn't important just then.

He nodded lightly to Dee, "Quite amazed at how easy that was. He seems like an alright fellow." Pales didn't really precieve anything wrong with the other man other than the fact that Morian was abrasive at least at first. He walked forth and allowed Dragonfly to follow him, he walked with an easy going stride of one without a care in the world -- at least for now.

Armel nodded at Lance, "Aye, the bench looks good to sit upon. Let's go then." Thus he wandered over and he clampered onto the bench, his feet not touching the ground being of a short-ish height because of his age mostly, "Don' think there are many kids like either o'us in general, Lance." He smirked after having a moment to register the last part of what Lance had said to him, "So le's sit 'ere an' stick out t'gether." He now grinned.

Dragonfly seemed to hesitate in her answer, choosing her words about Morian slowly.

"Morian is... ...Different. He.." her voice faltered, and she pursed her lips, before looking seriously at Pales.

Memories of Morian's confessions (though he was drunk when he told her) still rang clear through her head. When he'd sobred up she'd promised she wouldn't breath a word to anyone, but..

"Morian has a lot of issues. If you're going to be anywhere near him, you.. You have to be ready to forgive him easily, and.." she had to pause again, "Sometimes you'll just have to forgive his actions without question. It's- it's not his fault... I'm sorry, I can't say more,"

Dragonfly smiled weakly at Pales, before looking forward once more, lest she accidentally bump into someone a little less friendly.

Lance followed after Armel, and he too climbed onto the bench (though he had an easier time than the other. However he paused in this endevour when he heard a- a tearing sound?

He blinked twice, before he realized that there was a numbness near his wrist. Upon inspection, it seemed that a rather large piece of his flesh had ripped away, revealing newer, shiny scales beneath.

"...Ow," he mumbled, though it was a rather delayed observation.

He shifted a bit on the bench, still staring at his wrist, before he smiled weakly to Armel, and dropped his wrist to his side, hiding the torn skin. Was something... wrong with him?

Pales just smiled and shrugged, "You don't have to explain your friend to me. I accepted him, pretty much. He is a good man in my books for agreeing to take Armel under his wing." He was sincere in what he said, "I know he can be a handful, I just hope he behaves with Morian. I am sure he will."

Armel glanced at Lance raising a brow as the other boy said 'ow' and then hid the hand. Before he could ask he heard the oncoming voices of his Da' and the woman he was speaking with. He pointed, "Aye, 'ere they come." Armel announced, and so the free speech moment was perhaps done for now. No more speaking freely else either parent would disapprove what came out of the young ones' respective mouths.

How sad.

Dragonfly smiled to Pales, thankful for the other's acceptance. He then looked over to the kids, waving to them slightly, and grinning widely.

Lance looked up distractedly, and he gulped a little at the oncoming adults. He didn't want Dragonfly to see what had happened to his wrist, she would only worry. Not that Lance wasn't worried as well, but he could handle this himself.

Couldn't he?

He pursed his lips a little, before looking over to Armel and forcing a smile.

"Mean's no more honest talkin'," he mumbled, before looking back to the approaching adults.

It wasn't so bad though, it meant that food was soon in order, and in all honesty Lance was starting to get hungry.

Armel laughed a bit in response to Lance's comment, "Aye, true. Perhaps another time?" He shrugged and watched as the parental units came up to them and he seemed more than content to let the pair come to them rather than the other way around.

Royalty knew when to walk and when not to!

As soon as Pales and Dee where within non-shouting distance Pales came to a stop and tucked his hands into the pocket of his pants and looked at both boys, "You two find anywhere to eat?" The fact that Armel got an apprenticeship with Morian would wait for a while, unless Dee decided to spill it forth. He didn't mind either way.

"Indeed," Lance replied before gazing towards the adults, watching them near. He sighed just a little, glancing over at Armel, and shrugging for no apparant reason at all.

In their wandering, Lance had completely forgotten that they had been searching for somewhere to eat, and he shrugged sheepishly.

"I didn't really see anywhere- but then again I didn't look," he mumbled.

Armel nodded agreeing to what Lance said, "Aye, we got caught up in talkin'. We feared losin' track of the stoppin' point n' decided to sit 'ere and what for ye both." The ram-horned boy added in further explination for their lack of eating spot.

Pales chuckled a bit and nodded, "So I see, well we can go a bit further now." The man looked thoughtful for a moment or two, "I think there is a diner not far from here," he glanced at Dee and Lance, "If you like greasy food. It's an indulgance I go through every now and again."
PostPosted: Sat Jan 14, 2006 9:24 pm

Lance nodded in agreement with what the other said, his smile becoming more secure as he gazed to the two adults.

Dragonfly tilted her head a little, gazing towards the clock tower, lost in thought.

"I think I know the place you're talking about Pales," she murmered, a soft smile on her features, "I used to live around here, until my apartment was crushed by Gambino's horrid tower,"

She gave a rather dry chuckle then, before shaking his head.

"They have good food. I think that it sounds like a good plan!" she grinned.

Once eating spot was established the group went on to the appointed Diner.

Pales opened the door and let the woman and children in first before he would follow in after. Though peering back at new entries was a must for most any diner, Pales felt a different sort of stare upon their entry. He couldn't figure out why though, "Go ahead and pick a table." He muttered after them as soon as they went in, unless someone hesitated.

Of course like any semi-sane human being Pales ignored the idea of that particular stare and chalked it up to his own paranoia.

"Ah! It is the place I was talking about," Dragonfly smiled as they headed in the door.

Dragonfly placed a gentle hand on each of the boys' shoulders, gently leading them inside, before glancing back to Pales. She smiled to him, before turning her head, and taking a sweeping glance around the room.

"Ah! My usual table is empty," she grinned, leading the group over to one of the booths next to a large picture window, "I strongly recommend the burgers here. They're huge, and really tasty. And, just in case you're a vegitarian, the veggie burger patties are homemade here, and just as good,"

Dragonfly sat down at the booth, sliding over so that she was next to the open window. Lance sat opposite his mother, and waved Armel to come sit with him.

Armel went in with Dee and Lance, and then Pales followed after everyone was in. Pales briefly smiled back at Dragonfly when she smiled at him. She was nice enough and it felt good to make a new friend, which wasn't what he was aiming for during his errands but it was a nice bonus and Armel got an apprenticeship.

The afternoon was ripe with bonuses.

"Oh, I'm hardly a vegetarian. Nor is Armel" Pales laughed a bit as he replied to Dragonfly's explanation of the food.

Pales followed them all to Dee's usual table and sat next to Dee as Armel moved to sit next to Lance.

Armel obviously was happy to oblige Lance by sitting next to him, "Seems nice 'nough place." He commented mostly at Lance.
