No, pipe bombs, grenades, etc. don't work wonders for zombies.
Basically pipe bombs work like so:
You have metal pipe packed full of explosive material, lit with a fuse. When the explosive is detonated, it will ignite, pressurizing the pipe. When the pressure is too much, the pipe explodes, sending metal shards, shrapnel, in all directions. This shrapnel kills by puncturing through it's victims.
However.
This is particularly ineffective against zombies, because, not only does it attract every zombie in the area to your doorstep, but the chances that the shrapnel hits the zombies head, penetrates the skull, and effectively destroys the brain, are very slim. Zombies don't feel pain, so the only benefit to this method would be partial immobilization of the zombie, say, if shrapnel were to remove appendages.

According to the Zombie Survival guide, Zombies don't use the same senses we do- they use a sort of internal radar to seek out life forms and hosts to spread the virus to that aren't yet infected. Sight, sound, and smell have really no effect on them, so a pipe bomb would be doubly ineffective because chances are, the shrapnel wouldn't pierce their brains, which as we all know, is the one true way to kill a zombie. The Zombie Survival Guide states that zombies are attracted to all sounds.

uryu ishida Millenium Joker But remember- with a Zombie virus, the internal organs are already shut down and mutated beyond repair- so while the subject itself is impossible, the theoretical science behind it is still open to discussion. As stated, viruses don't work that way. PHYSICAL IMPOSSIBILITY. Max Brooks is FULL OF s**t. He knows nothing of science or proper survival. The book is full of things that will get you killed for sure. Viruses cannot wildly mutate the body. THe body CANNOT function without ALL OF THE ORGANS. The muscles cannot move without blood pumping oxygen, energy, and other chemicals to them. The blood gets the energy from DIGESTED food, and gets the air from the WORKING lungs. It gets the other chemicals from various glands throughout the body. The heart pumps the blood. The blood has to be purified. The undigested food and waste must be passed. If none of the above are met, the body CANNOT MOVE. TL;DR Max Brooks is a stupid c**t, there is no science behind it, and everyone who believes his books needs to be kicked in the nads so hard they spit them out. Bro, zombies aren't real. Chill, don't take things so seriously, right?

nu....sorry. unless you put it ontop of a cage with an animal in it that you can spare and run string form the trigger and pull wene zombies are close, no way, wasted time, permabanned.

All you need for a pipe bomb is a capped pipe full of M80s but the only thing explosives would be good for is if there is a large horde of many zombies that you need to scatter. Or to possibly make a hose colapse on them.
