The only games I've been playing lately are silly little time-management games from Gamehouse. I try not to get into big games or books while I have school because I usually wind up all hours of the night trying to finish them and blowing off studying.
Of course... it's not that much better when I'm playing Jessica's Cupcake Factory fullscreen and can't see my clock. sweatdrop
Urgh... I still have, like, 5 Castlevania games I need to finish. Vas says I'm not a CV fan - just an Alucard fan. He might be right. I get distracted from those way too easily. <.< But I kept ******** up my familar paths in Curse of Darkness while I was half asleep and having to go back. Then I just got sick of playing through the same areas.
And 2-3 Atelier games. I was at the end of the second one, but I held off finishing because I couldn't find the third one, anywhere. Now I barely remember what I was supposed to be doing. I guess killing SUPER SAYAN CHAOS. LOL. I thought I would piss myself laughing when they turned his hair all spikey and blonde to show he was possessed or whatever.

Eh, Curse of Darkness is hard to care about and I've still yet to pick up Order of Ecclesia or Portrait of Ruin.
My favorites are still the 2D Castlevania, I've been meaning to go back and play III or IV lately. The 3d ones really irritated me when they released Lament of Innocence and wrote out Sonia.
I am curious about how the new Castlevania by Kojima will turn out. I hope it's finally about the Belmonts again.

I never played the game with Sonia in it. Actually the first game I played was SotN, and it's still my favorite. I know another of my friends was upset that they retconned Sonia, but he got over it pretty quickly when he found out about Mathias. I thought the premise of LoI was pretty good.
The 3D Castlevanias that really suck are the ones for N64. Talk about clunky controls and stupid characters. "Hey, we have this guy, and he's a Belmont. But we're not going to call him that. He's gong to have a different last name. How about something German? Oh! And this little girl who is totally up to taking on the castle by herself because she's a descendant of Sypha, but lets make her godamned impossible to use. And let's throw in a kiddie Dracula for good measure." Well, at least Rosalie and that vampire hunter guy were amusing. But it didn't make up for whatever incompetent SOB designed the camera controls.
And then they REMADE the damned thing. Threw in a few extra levels and a playable werewolf and it's NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEW! Blech.

I don't even particularly dislike Lament (Though the level design was kind of meh) but the characters were alright and the story wasn't too bad. But I liked Sonia fighting Dracula and being Trevor's mother. Yeah, the 64 versions were terrible. Though the motorcycle skeletons made me laugh. At least the other Castlevania games that didn't have Belmonts went into who they were. I mean, Circle of the Moon had a Morris, but he was supposed to be related to Bram Stoker's Dracula. By the way, has anyone here played Persona 4?

But I liked Sonia fighting Dracula and being Trevor's mother. Yeah, I can see how that would bug you. I may have never played the earlier games, but I sure read enough interesting conspiracy theories about them before LoI came out. Sonia x Alucard? LOL. I just can't see that guy being with anyone. But I totally fangirled over Mathias. And he brings a whole slew of other things to theorize about, which is always fun. And hey, Sonia may not be "official" anymore, but stories are all about what they mean to you. If you want her to be the origin, then she can be so in your own head. God knows I've ignored enough canon in other series when I thought the creators lost their minds. xd

I'm only really bothered by it since it doesn't conflict with the current timeline at all. But then again, neither did Circle of the Moon (though it did star non-Belmonts, so I can kind of understand it). Whatever, like I said, I still prefer that story.
In other news, I picked up a game I somehow only just heard about called "Shiren the Wanderer". Damned fun roguelike set in Fantasy Feudal Japan. The wii version is coming out soon, but I didn't realize there was a version on the DS. Apparently it was a port of the old SNES one. You can find a Rom and translation if you want to try it out.
If you can find it, it's going for like $7. Not a bad price for a portable game that'll probably last you awhile. Made by the guys who make the Mystery Dungeon series, Chocobo and Pokemon and the like.
Actually, other than them and the guys who make Izuna: The Unemployed Ninja; I can't think of anyone who makes commercial roguelikes.

You know, I think the reason I play mostly fps shooters in multiplayer these days is that the solution to just about every other game is either outlevel it or build way to many damn units to start with.
Maybe if rpgs had an interesting plot and a good atmosphere I'd be more enticed to play, but nowdays they just seem to be a mashup of the same old crap to garner sales to console gamers.

This is sadly true. Ironic that the more generic the genre gets as a whole, the more people seem to be playing it. I wish they made more games that scaled to your level. I wind up overleveling in most RPG's without even trying from all the random encounters I get while exploring. I wish there were more games without random encounters. Make Lunar 3, already. *briefly thinks about Dragon Song* Or not. It's easier to pretend a sidestory never happened.

That was a very pretty game and I liked the leveling system to a degree. I dunno, but I like the idea of leveling skills based on you actually using skills, rather than hemming you into things based on whatever little traits you pick. I dunno, I'm not a big fan of trying to figure out effective builds and what synergies with what. If I feel like whacking something with a sword, than my sword whacking skills increase. If I want to shove an arrow up its butt, my arrow up the butt skills increase. It's a simple system that allows me to end up kicking the s**t out of things while being able to heal myself. The game I really kind of want to see is a fantasy version of Eve Online, with nice house and village building. With secret bazookas. Nothing says ******** your gigantic army that's attacking my castle like a strategically placed explosive.

Wolffy000 Wow, Dante's Inferno is a shameless God of War clone. I am amazed. I wonder if that could be for good or for awesome. I was just detailing to my boyfriend the other day about how the Aladdin video game was best movie tie-in game ever. All it had to do was ripoff Prince of Persia and invent an easy mode for it. So yeah, I think this is a Satan Claus moment. On the subject of RPGs, their quality as of late is probably why I cling to Pokemon and WoW so much. With Pokemon you can dispense with the RP and have fun crunching numbers, then RP in the videogame subforums that you are true master of theory. With WoW, I do like it's story and the number crunchingness. Harvest Moon? Cultivating numbers to crunch has a cathartic quality to it. sweatdrop

Okay this is kind of lame, mom got the Wii balance-board and wii fit plus and biggest loser game for christmas. And who's using it? Me, well not the biggest loser game but the balance board and wii fit plus.
And what am I doing, yoga and fitness training. Who would've thought that I would ever do yoga? I am finding that it's helping my back and knee out some which is why I'm doing the yoga bit. neutral
Hopefully tomorrow I can finally pick up twilight princess which I've been dying to play more than ever now that we have a Wii.

My dad was trying to do yoga too (for his knee before his accident). We were never really consistent but I heard it's suppose to help. It hurts me though. gonk Guess I'm not very flexible. arg.
Zelda is still so much. Around $50-$45? I think it's worth it. I also got the Zelda Collector's edition for Xmas that has 4 old Zelda games on it. eek I NEED to play this. <333333
