Tish looked at the fainted form of Niko on the floor, staring at him for a long moment, before stuffing a couch pillow under his head and following Thali. "Thali, get back here! that - that can't be right, you know that!" she yelped, her eyes wide and frightened. "Niko and I were wanting to wait - we can't - not with so many toddlers, I - it's just not possible!" she yelped, almost absolutely certain that she couldn't possibly be pregnant. Thali was just off her rocker or something. . . . She just had to be.
Niko would never want to add another children to the bunch they already had! So she [couldn't be pregnant! There was just no way!

"It might not be right," Thali said with a nod. "But you are. Look at yourself, note your moodswings. Have you been having cravings lately? Feeling sick in the morning, or when you see a certain kind of food?" The elf shrugged, and for a moment, her eyes glimmered with envy. "Abort it if you need," she muttered. "It's your baby. Or put it up for adoption... for someone who can't have babies."
"By the time it's born, half your children will have grown," the elf added, thoughtfully. "These kind of things take time. They aren't like what Darcy does, where she makes a child in less than a minute and gives them away."

Tish bit her lip, and shook her head. "If. . . . if I am, Thali, I'd never do something like that." Walking closer to Thali, she put a hand on the elven woman's arm. "You'll be alright, Thali. And so will the baby you're carrying." She didn't know how she was so certain that Thali was pregnant, but she was. And she didn't want her friend to be too sad. "Do you want to help me go wake Niko up?" she asked, offering a mischievous smile to the elf.

Thali shook her head. "It'll die. Just like the others..." she muttered. "They always start out so healthy... and I start thinking it'll be alright... and it dies." She sighed, and put her arms around Tish for a brief moment. "Yours'll be alright, though. I know it will."
Thali released her friend, before a small smile crossed her features. "Why would we want to do that?" she asked, feigning innocence. "I'll get the water."

As much as Tish wanted to reassure her friend that the baby would be fine - since she just knew that it would - she also knew that nothing she could say would change Thali's belief that the baby was going to die. She'd figure it out eventually. In the meantime, however, it was time to have a little fun. She'd consider the ramifications of her own - could it really be a pregnancy - situation later. "Hold that thought, Thali," she said, opening the freezer. "We need ice-water, wouldn't you agree?"

"Ice water's a bit too mean," Thali mused, glancing at Niko's fainted form. "Maybe just cold water?" she suggested. "I'd imagine he's had enough shock for today. With you dumping him, and then learning that you're pregnant--" She hesitated, before smiling at the other woman. "Of course, none of that's your fault," she said. "Mood swings are quite common." She went to the sink and filled a large glass with water.

Tish had the decency to blush. "I've. . . been really horrible to him today, haven't I?" she said softly, her eyes starting to water a bit. "Ugh, I'm a royal idiot - no offense meant, Thali," Tish added hastily to the royal-born in the room. "But. . . now what do we do?" Pausing for a moment, she shook her head to try and clear her train of thought, instead turning to Thali and poking her lightly in the arm. "Forget me for a bit, Thali - while Niko's. . . um, asleep. . . is there anything you need to talk about?"

"I wouldn't say horrible. I did worst things to my husband when I was pregnant with Sammi and Reiya," Thali mused. "Of course, he deserved it. You haven't harmed him physically, but I'd avoid telling him the children don't like him." She glanced at Niko rather guiltily. "I'm afraid Niko's got a phobia of rejection, and it's partly my fault," she confessed. Not that she'd admit to why it was her fault. Never.
At Tish's question, the elf smirked slightly. "About Niko?" she asked. "No, I can't say I have any thing more to say about him." She knew what the woman meant, though. Just for a bit. "Unless you meant something else?"

"Please, Thali," Tish said, grabbing the elf's hand a bit. "You can talk to me, I'm more than willing to liste nto you - to help you - though I can be a bit of an idiot sometimes," she confessed sheepishly. "Just... if you're not up to talking now, know that you can if you need to, any time, okay?"
Then with a smile, she took the water pitcher and poured its chilly contents over Niko. "Time to wake uuuuu~uuuuup!"

Thali paused, and squeezed Tish's hand gently in response. "Thank you," she said, genuinely grateful. "I'll tell you if I ever do need someone to talk to." And if all other things failed her first. "I'm always here to listen to you too," she added, with a small smile.
Niko bolted up, eyes wide. He glanced around the room before looking up at Tish. He shook his head like a wet dog, before frowing at her. "Why'd you do that?" he demanded.

Casting a concerned look at Thali, as she didn't believe that the elf was all right in the least, Tish reached a hand down to Niko to help her fiance up. "You weren't waking up, that's why I did that," she said simply, smiling at Niko. "Are you going to stay awake and talk now, or are you going to need another dousing?"
