Kay, this isn't an app or anything I just wanted to share an idea I had for the squire:


firstly, female. Not because I prefer to RP as female but because I've always loved the idea of a female squire in any story since most people automatically think of a young boy... well I love the idea of a young woman, maybe in her twenties, especially as a confident one. Many people don't realize that it was common in the middle ages for squires to be middle-aged, sometimes older than their knights, because knights were chosen by blood, higher nobles, not prestige and squires were usually duke's sons, or lesser nobles.

Secondly I picture a confident warrior-type, someone who is brave and always out to perform good deeds but these good deeds are perverted by his/her pride. They're the overconfident hero, often not seeing how their actions may help a few but they are overlooking the many others affected by their actions. Often times they will take on dangerous tasks because of their confidence in themselves, and their desire to be a hero (even more suited for a squire that is often overshadowed by the knight) and prove themselves, and their pride in themselves will fill their bravery and blind them to the fact that they are incapable of rising to those challenges, risking not only their lives but those that they are trying to protect. They are blind to the consequences because their pride blindfolds them.

Physically, I picture a tomboy of a girl with short hair and a slim body. Wearing men's clothing and often mocked for it by the ladies at court but she is not ashamed because her priorities are less to be married to a great lord and more to seek glory.


It comes mostly from a show I watched once where one of the main characters was afflicted with a sin (pandora's box was opened) but they didn't know what it was because she wasn't showing any signs. they found out later it was pride, and it nearly killed her, because she went alone to face the enemy that had opened the box thinking she could take him on by herself.

I was actually thinking female for the squire for along those same reasons! You have a ton of good ideas. ^^ Although I also want to encourage people to be creative with their characters, and make them their own.

Are either of you interested in applying for that part? ♥

I'm RPing in the Wrath room but I wanted to pass that idea on in case it was useful. I agree that people should be creative with their characters so maybe the idea can transcend to a plot idea, or something to help along the way with a contest of sorts... like a story contest, members submitting short stories about the squire overcoming their pride with the help of one of the virtues, either learning a strange lesson from the jester (wisdom found in madness) or words remembered from the lady.

I do like the concept of pride a lot so I hope it helps. If I get any more ideas I'll drop them by.
