Cam made an appreciative sound when Keith revealed his chosen fishing spot. She actually knew the general area for its willow trees, which she would occasionally harvest bark from to use for pain. She might have even been down this particular stretch before, for a couple of the trees were grouped in familiar ways, but the coming of the seasons tended to mold the land month by month.
"It's very nice," she said, looking down at the emerald grass and cocking an ear towards the gentle bubbling sound of the water. "Not too deep that we can't scoop out a fish before they vanish, but not too shallow that we can only catch minnows." She turned to Keith and smiled in pleasure at him.

He was glad to know that she was happy with the spot that he had chose. He had found this spot all on his own one day when he was out scouting. He had wondered from his area. Not on purpose of couse... he was just a little distracted at the moment when he came upon the area. It was rich with fish and a perfect depth. He hadn't told anyone about it cause he wanted it to be his own little secret place. Well now it was his and Cam's secret place.
"Yeah... I discovered this place a wile back. Its perfect for catching fish." he smiled over at her. "And this little area is good for people who don't really like being in deep water... cause its not so deep."

Cam laughed. "Or for people who can't fish, cause they're klutzs," she asked, raising an eyebrow in wicked good humor. She always made fun of herself in that sense, how she could move with such a graceful walk but when asked to do anything reqiring moderate physical skills she was clumsier than a kit!

"Awww now don't say that." He chuckled. "Your not half bad... maybe..." He teased as he smiled down at her. "No I'm kidding." He licked her nose. "You should be fine." He smiled back at her as he entered the water slowly. "Ooo...." He shivered. "Its a little cold... might take some time to get use too."

Cam gave Keith a light, playful shove and shook her head in a good-natured way, still grinning. She moved forward to test the water herself and hissed slightly. "Wow. Maybe it's snowmelt from the mountains?" She slowly eased herself into the water, trying to shuffle rather than raise her paws to step.
"Waiting is good though. Gives the fish time to get used to us and come back." She glanced down at her feet, bright yellow fur waving in the current underwater, and giggled as a few tiny minnows came to investigate. "They always seem to love bright colors."

He nodded. She was right. With how cool the water was it could have possibly come from melted snow. He smiled as he watched her move into the water. "Thats true... I also have a feeling they may be attracted to the color of your fur." He smiled. "So I bet you'll get one right away."

Cam shuddered a little. "Just as long as I don't get one so big that it can eat my paw," she said. Maybe that was another part of why she wasn't too good at fishing. When anything really big got close she tended to swat too soon, giving the fish time to change course.
"Hmmm, I guess we'll just have to wait and see though." She peered down at the water. Usually voices disturbed fish and scared them off, but sometimes it didn't seem to matter. She glanced around and saw a few bigger ones swimming up ahead. Were they too scared to come over here because of the chatter?

"Yeah... that wouldn't be too good." Keith chuckled. "I would hate for you to gett attacked by a giant fish on our first outing." He then nodded when she said they would just have to wait and see. That was true enough. It took some time when it came to fishing. He looked up and noticed the fish as well. He stopped talking and waited. Now it was up to the fish weather or not that wanted to come closer.

A mental image of Cam getting attacked by a fish big enough to eat her popped into her brain. It was half terrifying and half funny, because if she managed to beat such a fish into submission...
She shook her head. Such a silly thought, Keith would laugh if he knew!
Well now wasn't the time to daydream. More than just the two fish Cam had initially spotted were starting to show up. There were at least half a dozen spaced around her and Keith, though a few seemed more inclined to investigate her bright fur from a distance. Cam held her body rigid, waiting.

He watched as the fish came closer. They seemed to be a little more comfortable now that the two of them had been in the water for a little wile. Some had started making their way back over to where they had been before Cam and he had entered the water. More seemed to be more interested in Cam and her colors rather then him. That would be a good thing. Wile some of them were distracted with cams colors he would be able to strike.

Cam looked out of the corner of her eye at Keith in a slightly pleading manner. She was pretty positive by this point that she'd locked up her limbs far too much to effective swat at a fish and hope to hit, but she also couldn't seem to properly unlock them without scaring the fish away again.
Right as she thought that one of the fish seemed to make up its mind, and swam forward to nibble at the ends of her fur. And Cam still stood there, tense and torn with indecision about what to do.

When Cam had glanced over at him with a pleading look he figured that it was time for him to make his move. He chose two good size targets. He had to be fast. He planned on scooping one out of the water then hitting the second one next. If he was fast enough he could possibly get two with in a few seconds. He nodded a little to let Cam know that he was going to make his move and he did. In one quick movement he hit the water and scooped one fish out of the water. It hit land and started to flop around. Wile it did that Keith went for the second one.

As soon as Keith moved Cam knew there wasn't much point in just standing still anymore; all the fish in the area would have scattered in a matter of seconds. Hoping to make herself at least slightly useful for something other than bait, Cam tried moving out of Keith's way and towards land to pin the first fish down...
...Only to step on another fish that had been trying to flee and had not anticipated her movements. To be fair, Cam hadn't anticipated stepping on the fish. She leapt with an eeping sound and whirled around, effectively tangling the fish in her back legs and somehow flinging it into shallower water.
Without really pausing to think Cam just pounced and hurled it as far out onto land as she could. For once it was a good throw, landing a lot farther than it could flop to get back to the water. Still shaking a little, Cam ambled out of the shallows to effectively subdue the flopping fish Keith had caught.

After playing in the water for a bit he managed to get another fish. This one he managed to get with his mouth so he didn't have to fling it onto land. When he turned to head back to shore he caught sight of Cams little encounter with the fish and couldn't help bit watch with amused eyes. Of cours he was quickly at her side when she subdued the flopping fish. He chuckled.
"Are you ok?" He looked over at her.

Cam shook her head, then started chuckling. "I don't know who was more surprised, me or the fish," she said ruefully, looking up at her mate. She nudged the now dead fish a bit further away from the water, and went to grab her own catch from where she'd tossed it further away.
"Well this is nice," she said, setting it down and looking at the results. "One for each of us and one to share. I should imagine we won't be very hungry for awhile after these."
