The boy looked up from his coat, his mess of hair swaying with the movement. Had Jin just complimented him? His cheeks grew faintly pink as he searched for a modest reply. "I-It's not that good." He cursed the slight stutter, making him more flustered. He rubbed his cheeks slowly trying to make his face return to it's normal hue.
"Mm... Would you like to help me pick some recipes then? Or..." He stared out the door for a few moment, "Or do you think that dinner is ready?" He smiled, rubbing the back of his head.

Aw, Evan was shy? Or at least shy taking compliments. Hopefully he wasn't shy talking in front of groups. He didn't know if dinner was ready or not. They spent a while longer in his room, talking about the report before his mother called them down to eat.
Evan was about to get a good taste of Sri Lankan cooking. Mrs. Darsha had prepared beef in a mustard curry sauce and tandori cauliflower. Jin's dad wasn't home for dinner, his mom said something about filling in for someone on another show.
When the dinner was cleaned up, his mother laid out some pink candied shapes, sprinkled with sugar for desert. Jin's eyes lit up and he grinned. "You like strawberries?"

Talking over the rest of the project went smoothly. Evan finally settled down and waited for Jin's mother's call for food. He was ready to go as soon as she spoke up, but waited for Jin to lead the way.
The dinner was to die for! Home cooking really was the best. If he could, he would be over here as much as he could instead of eating microwavable dinners or burning the kitchen down. "This was a wonderful meal Mrs. Darsha." He wanted to hug this lovely woman for this meal. It quieted his growling stomach and fulled him up, but when desert was presented to him, he wasn't going to deny it.
But what was this pink confection placed before him. He tilted his head to Jin, a slight smile on his face. "I do like strawberries." He wouldn't tell him right out that they were his favorite next to peaches. "May I?" He reached for the pink this, eager to try them out.

Jin smirked at Evan when he looked at the candies. "Go ahead. ... They're gelatin based, so they're a little squishy." He didn't tell Evan exactly what it was though. "They're strawberry flavored though. Help yourself."
Really, Jin was wondering if this was his mother's way of offering to help them with the project. This desert was simple, and really easy to make. Plus, they had all the ingredients most of the time.

"That's fine!" Evan laughed as he took the sugar coated strawberry candy. He bit into it and immediately liked it. He had never had a candy this good. Was this possibly a recipe in one of the books they didn't look at? "Could we use this as our dish for the presentation?" It looked as if the treat was simple enough. And it was delicious! What kid in their class wouldn't love it? He finished his piece, licking off the left over sugar from his fingers before getting something to wipe his hands. "If we do make this, we should bring napkins." He smiled as he cleaned off his hands.

"Have as many as you want, Evan." Mrs. Darsha smiled at the boys. There's plenty more." Jin tried not to laugh as he watched Evan lick his fingers.
"You like them? Sure we can make them. Next time you come over, I'll show you how. ... We might have a recipe, but we make them all the time, I think my whole family has it memorized. I can write it down for you if you want." Napkins were a pretty good idea, just in case."
With dinner finished, Jin and Evan talked a little more before deciding to call it a night. They'd meet again soon to talk more about the project. Of course, before Evan went home, Jin's mother handed him a small box with left overs of the dinner, and several of the strawberry treats. "Come again any time."
Jin was confidant they'd have the best presentation of anyone.
