Good point, but I think the contest was just between them, plus they were goddesses. Fairest means two things. The the most just and the most beautiful. Goddesses are beautiful, but fair? Not all the time that means even Athena. Heard of Arachne?
Though, if I have to say Athena is perhaps the fairest when it comes to being just between them as Aphrodite is beautiful. Now Hera, I think it would be unwise to insult her. She has a bit of a temper and by choosing her it would be the wisest thing. Plus she's the goddest of marriage. If anything as Paris, I could get Helen without war and I'd prefer to keep the Trojan throne to Hector. Plus, by choosing Hera I could secure more land for the Trojans and power that could surpass Agamemnon. domokun

I have to say that I agree that Athena, should get it. Though Aphrodite is the goddess of Love, and Hera does have a mean temper. Although Athena is just like any other women when it comes to looks. We like to think we're the fairest, and if someone else is getting the attention we want will find away to get it back. All three Goddesses have been jealous of a mortal women. But both Athena and Aphordite had mortal women who we're thought to be more beatiful than they were and threw a fit about it.

Athena is the best choice..if he'd pick her, there would never be a big war where tons of people died. all because of a woman.  Look! A Golden Apple!

Aphrodite maybe the goddess of beauty but Athena is the goddess of wisdom. Phyiscal Beauty fades and is after all only skin deep. Far better to wise then beautiful. For without wisdom what use is knowledge and beauty is after all in the eye of the beholder.

You see in the illiad the two god were getting married and one was not invivited so she left the apple asnd it said to the fairest and an arguement aourse who should have it until a boy was chosen to judger....i think his name was Paris and he heared the offers of the other godesses and was intrested until Aphordite said I know what your heart truley desires and she told him of a beautiful women named Helen and he fell in love and chose her!
