Kayleena almost shrunk a little behind Daimhin before realizing that she was seeing a rather lovely Flutter Soquili. She was the one who was talking and slowly she inched out from behind Daimhin's shadow and took in the sight of the mare. Her hooves were cloven and Kayleena was curious but she held in her questions before dipping her head in respect to Carmilla. Was she the leader?

Finally Kayleena found herself standing totally in the open as she silently observed the random mixing of Soquili that stood just behind Carmilla. She cast one last look at Daimhin before slowly relaxing her tense muscles. Maybe this wouldn't be such a bad time.

"Thank you Carmilla. I am indeed Kayleena. I hope I'm not intruding here. Daimhin brought me here to see what herd life might be like."

Her eyes never ceased flicking back towards the others that stood nearby. She glimpsed a few different breeds and some of their appearances actually intimidated Kayleena. She kept a friendly smile as she spoke again softly. "I'd like to be introduced. I find it quite ignorant to not learn names and going about trying to get someone's attention by another means."

"You're not intruding at all." Above Kayleena's head, Carmilla gave Daimhin a knowing and dryly amused look. He would owe her for this one, and she always collected her debts. She looked over to the others and beckoned her mate over with one wing. She waited as Svanbjorn approached and was inwardly smug with the polite half-bow he gave the usdia. She had trained him well.

"This is Svanbjorn. He's my dear lifemate." Sometimes he wasn't dear at all. Sometimes he was aggravating, petulant, or condescending. The little Kayleena didn't need to know that just yet. She paused to look for Kayleena's reaction. Would she be afraid of Svan with his obvious kalona features? That was one she could never predict out of all the soquili they had met.

A little relief flowed through her at Carmilla's words. Kayleena didn't like to feel like she was intruding. She gave another quick glance back towards Daimhin before chuckling softly. That chuckle though died as the next member of the herd stepped forward. Even with Carmilla's reassuring words the mare couldn't hold back her look of shock at the winged stallion. His spaded tail gave away that he was at least part kalona. She'd never seen wings like his though and she backed up a few steps in uncertainty.

What sort of herd would allow a Kalona to be a part of it? Weren't they just as devious and mean as skinwalkers. Kayleena tried to hide the violent shiver that traversed her small form. She dipped her head politely as to not appear rude but inside she was quaking in fear. The realization that there was a Kalona amongst Daimhin's herd mates almost made Kayleena want to turn and run now. Breathing deeply and with a hitch of fear in her voice she spoke, "Hello Svanbjorn. It's nice to meet you."

She couldn't keep the tremble out of her voice as she looked beyond Carmilla and her lifemate. There still seemed to be some others lingering behind the group and it seemed as though shutters had been lifted from her eyes. Something seemed amiss but the little mare couldn't put her hoof on it just yet.

Daimhin caught the bad reaction Kayleena gave to Svanbjorn and tried to step in and smooth things over. He wanted to kick Carmilla for introducing Svan first when he should have been last or not at all. He stepped in front of Kayleena and to Svanbjorn's side. He stood a little taller than the half-kalona and hoped that it would make Svan look smaller and less threatening by comparison.

"Don't worry about Svan here," he told Kayleena. "He's not bad, just a bit stuck up." He ignored the venomous look Svan gave him at that remark.

"I don't have any interest in harassing usdia, at least," said Svanbjorn archly. That is doing a lot better than some people here, apparently, he wanted to add. "You don't have anything to worry about from me." Unless she made a pest of herself. Unlike Carmilla, Svan wasn't in the mood for this sort of dance around. The usdia would figure out where she was sooner or later and he wasn't going to make a fool of himself to help her feel more at home.

Kayleena still had the urge to take a few steps back. Even with Daimhin standing taller than Svanbjorn something in the air had changed. The deception was breaking down. There had been a tip in the scales. Kayleena stood in mute silence as Svanbjorn indicated that he didn't harass usdia. That left a lot of open questions. Did it mean that he harassed other Soquili and found no use in tormenting her?

Daimhin had brought her here with promises that she would be free to leave whenever she chose. Her eyes narrowed in suspicion before she tried to find the relaxing calm she had had earlier on. There was still tremors of unease coursing through her small body but she gave a tentative smile towards Daimhin. He must have seen her earlier reaction and while his urgency to assure her that everything was okay rang alarm bells. "Is there anyone else to meet?"

Her voice might have gone back to sounding cheerful but Kayleena was definitely on edge. She'd dropped her guard in coming her and was starting to find out the repercussions of doing so.

Svanbjorn frowned a little. "Well, you haven't met Samsara. She's not around presently, though." It should be obvious that she wasn't around. If she was, this little charade would have gotten ended very quickly. Svan seriously doubted that Samsara would have played nice. In fact, he was positive she wouldn't have. Daimhin had better figure out what sort of cage he was keeping the usdia in before Samsara came back. Either Samsara would blow their cover or eat the little niblet whole.

Carmilla almost stomped on Svan's tail. He was not making a very impressive showing for the Mahapadma. "Samsara is on a bit of a jaunt," she confided to Kayleena. "But we do have a few others around. Why don't you follow me on over? They're just beyond those bushes." Unenlagia and Bushkin had chosen not to be part of the initial welcoming brigade. Carmilla didn't see a way they could be any less charismatic than her Svan was being presently.

Samsara? Kayleena glanced to Svanbjorn. "Who is Samsara?"

The usdia shuffled awkwardly before tilting her head to the side in a little bit of a quizzical manner. Her gaze caught Carmilla's form. Svan made it sound like this Samsara was the one who was supposed to be the leader. If that was the case how come Carmilla was the one making all the introductions?

Kayleena's confusion grew as Carmilla mentioned more members. She gave a hesitant look towards Daimhin. Was there something going on here that she didn't understand? Some veiled cover. More questions were flying around inside her mind faster than a cyclone. The little mare took a step forward in preparation to follow Carmilla before something, some unknown intuition, struck her suddenly. She stopped abruptly and stared really hard at Svan and Carmilla. She'd never seen the pair before but there was an aura of danger that she was associating with the two of them. In fact she had been too wrapped up in excitement of Daimhin's proposal to even recognize that the stallion too had an air of danger around him. Suddenly she realized that she had no desire to continue on. Her gaze shifted from eager to one who suddenly found themselves among predators. Her anxiety grew before she quickly dipped her head towards the three larger Soquili. Her voice was steady but her words came out rather breathless, "I think I've seen enough. Daimhin I'm grateful for the opportunity you gave me but I think I must decline staying here."

She turned her back on the trio before shivering. Her gait was steady and Kayleena had to fight to keep her steps even. Fear danced inside with every step she took.

She was leaving! Daimhin's good mood turned vicious as soon as Kayleena turned her back on them. "This is your fault!" he hissed at Svanbjorn. He then ran after the usdia, passing her then stopping in front of her, blocking her path. His geniality was no longer present. He glared down at Kayleena, imposing and threatening. "You aren't going anywhere. I've caught you, and you're mine now." He had really hoped he could accomplish this without the messy confrontation. It looked like that hope wasn't to be.

"As for Samsara-" Svanbjorn approached her from the rear. His bat-winged shadow fell down upon Kayleena. "She is... our master." He smirked past sharp teeth. "I'm a little surprised you haven't heard of her, actually. Most in this area have." Samsara had seen to that. She had driven out the soquili that dared to encroach upon their home and terrorized the ones that didn't. He would have thought that her name was synonymous with terror by now to anyone nearby.

"You'll meet her soon enough, anyways. You really can't miss her. She's the skinwalker that you'll be seeing soon."

Kayleena's hooves skidded in the dirt as Daimhin passed her and then blocked her path. "I am not yours. You might have tricked me to get me here, but I belong to no one." Her gaze took in the changed demeanor of the stallion as she cast her gaze about trying to find a way to slip past him. Realization struck her that the s**t had hit the fan so to speak. The charade that Daimhin had played on her was finally gone. Now she understood why there had been a feeling of unease over this whole situation. She'd been lured here. Her voice failed her as Svanbjorn's shadow fell over her. Without turning around the usdia knew that he was standing right behind her.

Blocked from escape on two sides. There was hardly the opportunity to dart to the side and Kayleena felt torn. She was speaking the truth earlier to Daimhin that she had no friends or family. It seemed as if she had been an easy mark. She glared defiantly at Daimhin before turning her back to him as Svan's words dawned on her.

"Your master is a skinwalker? Why on earth would you want to put yourself in that position?"

It looked like her fate had been sealed. Her gaze shifted between the two stallions. She didn't like turning her back on either one but if she had to choose she would rather turn her back on Daimhin. Keeping the more dangerous one in her sight for the time being. What had she gotten herself into now?

"Well I volunteered." Daimhin chuckled. "The rest of them didn't, but maybe they'd change their mind now if given another shot at it. Samsara is... amazing. You'd have to meet her to know." He peered at her. "But not you. You don't want to meet her." Possessively, he smirked. "I'll keep you safe from her." Now that she was trapped with them, he was really the only thing protecting her from being devoured at any moment. She would learn to appreciate that in time.

"She's a little hard to get away from once she's found you," remarked Carmilla, stepping up to stand beside Svanbjorn once more. "It's not worth the bother of trying to get away, really." For all that she said it lightly, it represented an important attitude. Carmilla had never really wanted to be part of Mahapadma and was the most loosely bound member. Samsara gave her less to do than the others, so she might be able to slip away unheeded. Was it worth the risk of possible death, though? It absolutely was not.

Kayleena's words failed her. Her eyes took in Carmilla's approach. Being much smaller than the three Soquili that seemed to surround her the usdia fought the impulse to tremble constantly. The occasional jitter might have given away her true state of mind. To hear that Daimhin willingly joined forces with a skinwalker made her head spin. Daimhin's words insisting that he'd protect her and that she was now his possession infuriated her. "You are all insane."

It was not the best idea though to display her fury though. There would be a time for that later. So that left one question: why was she really here?

What was it about her that had attracted Daimhin to her? Kayleena couldn't think of what she could have done to warrant such attention from the stallion. To be lured and trapped in a place that was unfamiliar was an unpleasant realization. She feared for her safety knowing that a skinwalker ruled this motley group. Were they all just as bloodthirsty as this Samsara? Shaking her head Kayleena looked from Carmilla to Svanbjorn and then back to Daimhin: her captor. She glared at the stallion before stepping out from the loose ring the trio formed around her. The situation was sinking in and she knew that she couldn't outrun any of these Soquili. It didn't mean that she didn't want a few minutes to herself.

"Where do you think you're going?" Daimhin stepped forward once more to block her path. If she thought she could just wander off as she liked, she was dead wrong. Daimhin didn't plan on letting her out of his sight until he had trained her well enough to know that she'd be safe for a little while on her own. He wasn't going to let his new prized possession disappear on him.

"And we're not insane, you know." Except maybe Bushkin. Daimhin thought that she had a few sanity issues, with the way she muttered about her "demon." He, Svanbjorn, Unenlagia, and the others were entirely sane, however. They knew what they were involved in. Daimhin was excited to be part of Mahapadma. It had been a natural choice for him to join, given his background in the evil organization of Team Galactic.

"Isn't it obvious? I was trying to get a few minutes to myself."

Kayleena's brows furrowed in disbelief as Daimhin once again blocked her path. How could she have not seen this coming? Daimhin had been a little eager to offer her this opportunity and like a fool she'd left the safety of her own little bit of land. Her mind was still very much in the process of catching up. What had happened if she had refused this "chance" that Daimhin had offered? Somehow Kayleena didn't think the stallion would have left her alone. He almost seemed to "want" her too badly.

That realization brought new found clarity. What would have happened if she hadn't chosen to come here willingly? She shivered briefly. Going on Daimhin's temperament at the moment she was ready to believe that the situation could be a lot different. As Daimhin corrected her earlier observation she couldn't help but snort in disbelief. "Think what you will. I know insanity when I see it. You fit the picture."

Shaking her mane a little Kayleena glanced to the hills that ringed this territory. Maybe she'd sneak off one day. But the question of where to go lingered. Returning home would be out of the question. She'd need to find shelter somewhere else if she were to ever get away. She once again took a step around Daimhin. She needed to know how far she could push the stallion. Boundaries would be set it seemed but right now Kayleena's defiance was growing.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 26, 2012 8:13 am

Daimhin was now starting to get a little angry. Now matter what he said, Kayleena pushed him. She just wouldn't listen. He wanted to keep her nicely, like a daughter or a pet, but it looked like she wanted to be treated like a prisoner. If that was what she chose, then he was going to treat her accordingly.

He snorted with frustration and again moved to stand in front of her. One of his large hooves stomped the ground, a warning to her. "If you need to think then do it here." He was aware of Carmilla and Svanbjorn's eyes on him. Let them watch. They'd see how a member of Team Galactic took control of a situation. "And don't you dare try to run away!"

Carmilla smiled idly from the sidelines. This was starting to become interesting. "If she's too much trouble for you, I'll always take her. I could use a little bit of rejuvenation, and she looks like she'd be good for my skin." Carmilla had her own special beauty treatment, involving the blood of young mares. Daimhin would be a much kinder master to the little Kayleena than she would.

Blocked again. Kayleena turned her gaze away from Daimhin as he stomped his hoof on the ground. She could feel the reverberation from the impact and she sidled uneasily. She wasn't going to run but the thought that if his hoof had struck any closer it would have been her flesh. With great effort Kayleena attempted to calm her racing thoughts and heartbeat. Getting upset wouldn't do either as it would probably amuse her captors. Giving her mane a tiny shake the usdia mare silently vowed that she'd find a way out of here. For now though it seemed as though she'd need to find the vulnerable side of herself in order to portray a submissive individual. The less attention she drew on herself it would perhaps be for the better. She'd have to be really careful around Daimhin though.

Her eyes flickered to Carmilla as the flutter spoke. She tried to comprehend what the mare's words meant. How would she be good for the skin? Kayleena shuffled back and forth on her feet as she stared anxiously around her, "Fine. I won't run and I'll think here," Kayleena gave a soft chuff sound before sighing. "You don't need to yell though."

Kayleena eyed Carmilla and Svan warily. She wanted to ask about the statement but at the same time she was afraid to find out what Carmilla had meant.
