Cloud could feel his lips tugging downward as he listened to his son talk about being confused. "I don't really care about the label Roxas. I'm not going to lie to you, I would love to have some grandchildren, but I just don't like the idea that your whole life is becoming instantly entangled with this guy. I mean at the beginning of this week, you didn't know this guy, and now you are running off with him for hours without keeping your phone on you. That is what is worrying me. I don't want to see you hurt and it seems like you are rushing way too fast into this." Cloud told him before he bit the inside of his lip nervously. He just didn't know how to handle any of this, because it was so left-field for his son all of sudden.
Cloud took a deep breath as he just leaned back into the couch and listened to his son talk about his afternoon. "...I'm happy, you are happy, Roxas, I just wish I knew these two, you know? before you run off with them on another adventure with them, I can met them please? It would really make me feel a lot better about my son running off with them. I'm sure they are both lovely boys, I just don't know them." Cloud spoke up after Roxas finished. He was trying to show Roxas that he was trying to understand, but he needed Roxas to budge with him as well. He couldn't just leap like his son was apparently willing to do.

Roxas began to frown as his dad was kind of crushing his happiness. So what if he was moving too fast? It was his decision. If he got hurt because of it, then he would figure it out. But he honestly didn't think those two were like that. They were nice and friendly and open, and he liked hanging out with them. "I left my phone in the car so it wouldn't get wet, so I could message you when I got back to it instead of it breaking," he told him softly, deep frown set on his face as he looked at his father.
When Cloud offered to meet Axel and Zexion, another smile broke out onto his face. Sure, that would work, right? Those two meeting his dad? Then he would trust them to take care of him, right? Even though Roxas was the hero today, it would help him trust them...right? "Yeah! Yeah, I can ask them tomorrow if they'd wanna come over! Maybe spend the night this weekend, even! If...if that's okay, I mean. I don't have their numbers, either one of them, but I can definitely ask them tomorrow," he told his dad, eyes lit up once more. "I meant to get pictures of them, but that didn't happen. Plus, Axel wasn't looking too good this morning. I don't think he slept well," he mused.

Cloud gave Roxas a flat look as he heard him tell him some comment about leaving his phone in the car to keep it from getting wet. "Roxas, you know what I mean about checking it. Don't act like just because you want to go off and do things now, I'm suddenly going to change. You know that I like to hear from you if you aren't going to be home, and I called your phone numerous times. I had no idea where you were, and I was worried about you. Don't turn this into some ridiculous argument about the actual location of your phone." Cloud told him almost getting angry at Roxas for even saying that. He knew better than to speak to him like that.
Cloud blinked astonishingly at his son's 180 personality change. Before he mentioned meeting the two, Roxas seemed frustrated and not engaged to the point where Cloud was sure that he wasn't actually getting through to the male. Now, he seemed overexcited. "Okay, Okay, well just remember you can't go crazy if they come over. If you are going to have to have friends over, they are going to be under the same rules you are in this house." Cloud reminded him. These two just really seemed to worry him, since Roxas had never really been this attached to someone so soon. In fact, Cloud thought for sure that Roxas's mother had kind of closed him off to being connected to people without really waiting for it to pan-out. Was Roxas finally moving on from his mother leaving? Or was there something else about these boys that Cloud was missing?

Roxas nodded enthusiastically as Cloud basically said them staying over was fine as long as they behaved. "Yeah, no problem!" he told him happily. "They're really not as troublesome as today made them seem, Dad. I swear," he told him, now excited about asking them tomorrow. He hopped up from his chair and hugged Cloud tightly. "Thank you, Dad. I know I was an annoying teenager today, and I'm sorry. You're the best," he told him and kissed his cheek before he grabbed his things and hurried off to his room to do the homework he had neglected thus far.

Cloud's face switched in the small form of a smile for a moment as Roxas came over and hugged him. He was happy that Roxas looked so happy, he really was.... but he just wasn't too sure about these kids. He didn't want his son to finally reconnect with someone in a healthy way, only to have them walk out of his life again. "You're welcome," He mumbled a little in response before watching his son run off down the hall. After a moment, the blonde leaned back onto the couch and tipped his head back so that he was looking at the ceiling. He looked and felt exhausted since things at work weren't well either. "...I need a stiff drink.."He mumbled under his breath before he closed his eyes and tried to relax there on the couch. He didn't keep any alcohol in the house, so this was just about as relaxed as he was going to get.

The next morning, Roxas woke up as usual and took a shower. He got dressed in a loose racer-back tank, some red skinny jeans and some turquoise Etnies. He also slid on his favorite checkered arm band that he kept around his forearm and a few rings and necklaces. He grabbed his book-bag and belt after spraying himself with his body spray and ran downstairs toward the kitchen where he smelled bacon.
Bacon. His dad never cooked bacon unless he was worried about Roxas, mainly because he slept restlessly at the thought of his son being in trouble. Therefore he had more time to cook in the morning. The thought made Roxas pause on the stairs and groan a little, then let a small smile slide onto his face. Dad was such a dork. He continued the rest of the way down the stairs and tossed his bag to the floor beside a stool and slid his belt on, clasping the seat belt-style buckle.
"That smells amazing," he told the blond tired-looking man moving around the kitchen. He walked over and leaned up to kiss his cheek before taking a seat just as his dad was putting bacon on his otherwise full plate, completing the masterpiece. "Thank yooou," he told him with a grin and took a gulp of his orange juice before digging into his breakfast.

Cloud seemed to inhale sharply hearing Roxas speak up to alert him to the fact that he was entering into the kitchen. He was so troubled about all of that was happening with his son, he could barely get a wink of shut eye. As Roxas came over to him and kissed his cheek, he seemed to calm for the first time since yesterday. At least Roxas was still Roxas. He hadn't changed his personality or his affection towards him. He didn't want his son to hate him or leave him. He was all he had left...
The taller, older blonde then moved to finish plating Roxas's and his own food, before sitting down at the bar across from his son. "You are welcome," Cloud breathed out softly as his tired eyes sank down into the plate of food he prepared. Carefully picking up his fork, he began to eat quietly. It wasn't until they were both about done eating that Cloud decided to speak up again. "So your new friends, they were coming over tonight or do you know yet?" The question was soft and cautious, but he was honestly trying to connect to his son who had strayed from him.

Roxas munched his breakfast happily, noticing Cloud wasn't moving as fast as he usually was. He could see that the man was exhausted, but he didn't know why. Maybe Roxas going off yesterday without letting him know really took more of a toll on him than he thought it did.
As his dad spoke up with the question, the blond teen had just set his fork down on the plate and stood to put it in the sink. He blinked at his father as he paused, then continued towards the sink. "Oh, uh," he started, laying his plate in the sink and then resituating himself down by Cloud, turning towards him. "I haven't gotten to talk to them about it yet. Are you sure you're okay with them spending the night? You seem kind of tired," he said back just as softly, looking at his father with concerned eyes. Cloud was what Roxas had left; he didn't need him wasting away on him.

Cloud wasn't done with about half his food as Roxas came and sat back down next to him. As the older blue eyes looked back up again, the fork was gently abandoned on the plate. Since he really didn't sleep well, he didn't really get much of an appetite. "I'm fine, I'm sure if I do get them to met them tonight or tomorrow on Friday, then my mind will be able to rest a lot better. I'm just worried about all these changes in you lately. I mean, you have to understand that you have put up quite a few red flags in the past few days, I just want you to be safe, and be able to know with ease that you aren't in the wrong hands. That's all, Roxas." Cloud told Roxas sincerely before leaning over and kissing Roxas on the forehead. The taller blonde then stood from his stool and moved over the trash can and dumped the leftover food inside, before putting his plate in the sink as well. "But this is something that we can take about later, you need to get to school, don't you? Do you want me to drive you today? Or do you want take your skateboard? I've got the time, so it doesn't matter to me," Cloud told Roxas with a soft, tired smile. He seemed exhausted, but it was obvious that he was still Cloud.

Roxas smiled gently as Cloud kissed him on the forehead. No matter how tired or out of it Cloud seemed, he always made sure Roxas was first priority.
"Dad...I love you," Roxas said happily to Cloud and hopped off of his stool. He picked up his bag and threw it over his shoulder, striding over to his father. He stood on his toes and kissed his cheek once more and smiled at him. "You know what? You haven't driven me in a while. Let's do that today. We haven't gotten a whole lot of time together lately, anyway," he told him. "And if we leave now, we can stop by Starbucks, and I'll buy us some coffee. You look like you're gonna need it today for work," he said with a little laugh. He missed his dad. He really needed to make more time to spend with him.

Cloud smiled at the offer and gladly accepted to take his son by Starbucks. He missed taking Roxas to school as well, so it was shaping up to be a much better day that Cloud had originally thought. He was going to get to take his son out and to school. It was definitely going to be the push he needed to get through work another day. They didn't get to spend a long time together, and Starbucks was almost too packed. Not that Cloud cared at all. He enjoyed every moment all the the way until he dropped Roxas off at school. He was a little sad to leave the small talk and watch Roxas leave, but he was glad they were talking again. It was the closest he had felt to Roxas probably in a year or so. Roxas had just become so lost lately. Cloud was excited that Roxas was capable of his normal self still. With one last wave, Cloud sent his son off and started back off to work with a bright smile on his face.
Elsewhere in the school, Axel found himself unable to carry a smile as he sat in the Nurse's work office. "... Axel, I need you tell me what happen." The school nurse stated sternly as she leaned against her somewhat cluttered desk. "I told you what happened. I fell off a pier. That's it. So I'm a little clumsy, last time I checked, that isn't something to get alarmed about." Axel mumbled back argumentatively as he looked away to the ground. "Axel, you can't walk on your own. You are in my office, because you were practically being carried into your first period by your friend, who I might add is sitting in the other room with the principal, but this isn't the first time you have gotten debilitating injuries. That is what is concerning me. You won't let me examine you. I'm worried about you." The woman challenged back. "Look, I'm not lying to you. I fell off a pier, Zexion wasn't even the only one there. One of our other friends was there top, his name is Roxas, he is a little blonde, he was even the one that pulled me out of the water. He can tell you, just like I did, and Zexion is probably doing as well next door. I was perfectly healthy, and walking just fine until I fell off the pier. I don't want you to touch me, because I'm sore as hell, and want you all just leave me alone. That isn't a crime." Axel almost growled back as he glared up at the woman.
She sighed at the redhead, before standing up. "Stay here, I'm going to get them to call in this Roxas. I'm not too worried about you getting far, but I don't want you hurting yourself even more." She scolded before getting up and leaving the room with a final small slam of the door. Axel just let the deep frown set on his face as he sank lower into the uncomfortable office chair. With a small wince at sinking against his hip, he tried to just be as comfortable as possible.

Roxas really enjoyed the light conversation that he and his dad kept going all the way to where the older blond parked in front of the school to drop him off. They really hadn't had the opportunity to talk like that in a long time, considering when Roxas got home from school, he usually had homework to do. Even on weekends they didn't see each other, because Cloud hadn't had a weekend off in what seemed like forever. It had to have been a few months that passed since he had by now. Honestly, the day before had been the first time Roxas had had the opportunity to go out with friends in almost two years, and he realized that it was one of the rare days that his dad had gotten off early enough and that he himself didn't have homework to do. He could have spent the evening with Cloud, and it made him get a sinking feeling in his stomach, guilt washing over him.
/I'll definitely make more time to spend with him from now on, though. I can't lose him because I'm being bratty. It would kill both of us./ he found himself promising himself as the car came to a complete stop. He smiled over at his dad and leaned over to kiss his cheek once more before he opened the door. Hopping out, he grabbed his bag and what was left of his coffee then bumped the door closed with his hip. He gave one last wave with his coffee cup and a smile before turning and striding into school where he immediately began the search for Axel and Zexion to ask about them staying the night.
It took him all of five minutes to realize they weren't in the courtyard before school, which made him frown but shrug a little and plop down on one of the half-walls. He sipped on his coffee and gazed around the courtyard, absently people-watching as students milled about the area. He saw Sora and the gang and gave a smile and a wave, the brunette immediately making his way over with the rest of their friends. Well, they were really Sora's friends. Sora was the only one he really talked to, which made it a bit awkward when they all sat or stood around him and continued chattering amongst themselves.
Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted Seifer and his gang of misfits. Seifer glanced his way and ghosted a smirk as he nodded slightly, acknowledging Roxas's presence before turning his full attention back to his friends. That made Roxas's insides bubble up, not because he harbored feelings for the guy, but because he was glad they had some sort of comeradery, thanks to Axel's advice. It felt good.
Eventually, the bell rung, and they all scurried to their first block classes, Roxas tossing out his empty coffee cup on his way to his class as he walked side-by-side with Sora. English was nice to have first-thing in the morning because it got it out of the way to have fun for the rest of the day. And it gave him a little time to hang out with Sora alone since he was in there with him. They began to make their way to their side-by-side seats, but before he could even walk over to his desk, the intercom for the classroom crackled to life, and Roxas was called to the office. Sora gave his friend a worried and confused look before wishing him good luck as the blond walked out the door again.
The blond made it to the office in no time and tentatively approached the front desk, who instructed him to head back to the nurses office, which caused him even more worry. Did something happen to someone he knew? Was it Axel or Zexion? Maybe that was the reason they weren't in the courtyard this morning. But why would they call him in, too? He only just started hanging out with them. They weren't well-known friends like most groups of friends.
"Hello?" he called after knocking gently on the nurse's door and peeking inside, immediately seeing Axel's bright red hair, eyes travelling down to the redhead's annoyed and exhausted expression. "Axel! What's going on? Did something happen?" he asked as he opened the door wider to reveal the nurse giving him a pointed look. "Oh, um, I'm Roxas. I was told to come back here?" he greeted awkwardly, walking fully inside and shutting the door behind him.

The nurse stood from her desk once again as there was a knock on the door. Axel's almost defeated eyes turned up to the door, and was all but praying for this nightmare to end. "Ah, Roxas Strife, thank you for coming so quickly. This won't take long." The nurse stated softly as she came around her small desk and directed Roxas to sit in the chair on the other side of Axel. Of course, as soon as Roxas showed panic for Axel's condition, she knew that she could turn Roxas against Axel. She knew he was hiding something, and if she could just get the right to examine him, she would have her answer. "Yes, you will have to clear something up for us. You see Axel was caught this morning practically being carried into class by his partner in crime, Zexion Korhonen. Then when I finally dragged him in here, kicking and screaming the entire way, he gave me this fairy tale of a story. He claims that his injuries were sustained from falling off a pier, yesterday but I don't think that is what happened. I think that Axel thinks that you are going to lie for him and tell me that is what happened, but I have seen your records. You aren't like Axel and Zexion, you don't have a record that includes various juvenile detention sentences. You are a good kid, who knows that me and the school is just trying to get Axel the help he needs. So Roxas, can you please tell me what happened to Axel yestereday." The nurse informed Roxas as she moved her eyes between the two.
Axel looked into Roxas's deep blue eyes with a small pleading look as he saw the concern. He didn't have much hope left, but he needed Roxas to be on his side. Axel didn't let Roxas look at his hips yesterday, but there was still a chance he saw the damage. The redhead needed Roxas to be as brief as possible, so that he could make it through this without anymore problems. Roxas, at this point, could be an ace in the hole for both Axel or the school. Axel had been in trouble with the law a couple of times, but the school was always getting into things they didn't understand. Axel had everything in his life under control all by himself. He didn't needed the school's help. If they got involved, they wouldn't take time to understand that what was happening had to be done. There was no escape from this for Axel. If the school found out, Axel wouldn't get the chance to explain or reason with them. He would just become another helpless kid lost in the system again... and this time, he wouldn't have Zexion. He wouldn't have anyone....
As the nurse continued to carry on with her luring garage, Axel actually contemplated kicking her legs out from under her and beating her in the face repeatedly. Axel didn't particularly care what this lady thought about him, but she was not going to drag Zexion down, too. Zexion did nothing, but support Axel and all of his baggage. If anything, this lady should revere Zexion. Without him, Axel wouldn't get half of the medical attention he needed, since Zexion was always the one that patched him back up. "Shove off, you idiotic woman, I don't know what in the hell kind of conspiracy you think you are about to uncover, but there is nothing there to find. I fell off a goddamn pier. That's it. I told you that. Zexion told you that. Roxas is going to tell you that. What more do you want?!" Axel snapped at the woman, before Roxas could open his mouth to explain. There was a small part of them that was hoping that if Roxas saw how against this Axel was, he would see how important it was for him not to tell her anything different than what was already told to her.
"Axel, this isn't a game, this is practically a tale of how you have escaped death repeated over the course of the last four years. Five sprained wrists, one broken one, you have had both of your arms broken and fractured on different occasions. Countless broken and fractured ribs and fingers. Several concussions. Hell, Axel, I wouldn't be surprised if right now the reason you can't walk is because you have broken or fractured something in your legs or hips. Your medical records read like the most obviously abused kid I have ever seen and yet, you refuse mine and the school's help to remove you from-" The nurse argued back at the redhead. This was obviously not the first time they had this conversation.
"Shut the hell up, you don't know what you are talking about. I told you what happened after every one of those supposed abused events. I may be accident prone and hell maybe even a little stupid, but I'm not abused." Axel yelled back defensively before turning away. "Roxas, just tell her what happen, so we can leave." Axel stated as he turned to Roxas and looked at him with his acidic green eyes burning. It was obvious that that redhead was upset on some deep level and just wanted to be left alone by this woman.

Roxas blinked as he was ushered over to sit with the nurse. His brow furrowed as the nurse said to re-explain what Axel had already told her. Why was she being so stubborn about believing a student about his own injuries? Sure, there were students who were abused and such, but Axel could hold his own nonetheless.
"Wait--" he started before he was cut off by Axel lashing out at the nurse, who he had obviously already had this argument with before. He listened to the bickering and banter, and was less shocked than he probably should have been to hear about Axel's injuries over the years. From what he saw, Axel did some things that could obviously get him hurt on accident, but what was the nurse about to say about removing him from something. Remove him from what? The school? ...His house? Now Roxas was curious.
His attention snapped back to Axel as the redhead curtly told him to tell him the story of yesterday. He paused for a moment, reigning in his thoughts and the details, before starting in a calm tone.
"Look, I don't know about what's happened in the past or whatever, as I literally became friends with them about two days ago, but I do know what happened yesterday, and I make it a point not to lie," he said, giving the nurse a pointed look that showed his slight annoyance with her pestering.
"I missed the bus yesterday, so I was going to skate home. Then Axel and Zexion pulled up beside me and gave me a lift, but they wanted to hang out first. So we went to this lake that has this pier an swam around for a few hours. Then when it was time to leave, Zexion was helping pull Axel up onto the pier when he slipped. He fell off the pier, taking Zexion with him, and his side and head smashed into it on the way down. Zexion was able to get himself out of the water basically unscathed, but Axel wasn't coming up. I had been a lifeguard over the summer, so my instict kicked in, and I ran over and dove in to get him. He was pretty disoriented, so he couldn't get his swim shorts which were hooked on a splintered piece of the column holding the pier up. So I ripped his shorts to get them free and lugged him back up to the pier. I think I made some witty joke about his shorts dying, then I got my shirt, ripped it up, and bandaged his head. Then we went home. End of story."
He looked at the nurse with an expectant expression, eyebrow raised as he sat back and crossed his arms over his chest. He was waiting for the nurse to pester him some more about what happened, but he was going to stand his ground for his new friends. It wasn't like he was lying, anyway. He could go around in circles with this woman all day. No matter his clean record, he wasn't a pushover, as proven by his fights with Seifer.
"Since you have two witnesses to back up the same damn story, can we go back to getting an education?" he asked smartly, voice showing his impatience. "I'm kind of missing a big lesson in English."

The nurse seemed to calm down, although obviously still annoyed with both of these boys. She listened to the story that Roxas told and seemed to be surprised about the fact that Roxas treated Axel's injury. There was her opening. If she could get a gauge on the injury, she could tell if Axel was lying about the only thing happening to him. "You both can get back to class when we resolve this. So you saw his injuries. How would you rate his injuries at that time? Could he walk after the injury? Did you see all of his injuries with your eyes?" The nurse questioned. With every new question, Axel seemed to sink deeper in the seat. Axel and Zexion knew better. When they were questioned. The only thing they said was literally, that Axel felt off a pier and that Roxas was there with them. They knew better not to give details, because any details at all just lead to being entrapped by these school official.
"Roxas, you don't have to answer her. The reason that she is all upset about this, Zexion and I always refuse to answer her relentless questions." Axel mumbled before receiving a sharp glare from the nurse.
