I find the one sure way to get reviews/views is to write M-rated fics for popular fandoms xD
I know what you mean, I have one rated T and it literally only got less than ten views. M is the way to go, you know, if you're comfortable with it.

It can be a little annoying, though. Even if you are comfortable writing porn. Especially if you have one story that's just PWP and another story with no porn but a well developed plot and complicated characters that you worked really hard on. You wanna get more recognition for the one you invested more time and effort in. Its frustrating when people only care about your "cheapest" work.

I know right? Usually I do end up writing porn only because the relationship of two characters develop into a more intimate one (and for good reason, not just cause they're there). So I'd label the story lemons (for much later chapters) or not at all. Personally I don't mind the stuff if it's a one shot, but I try not to write a full blown story about it. So I end up making the stories more graphical and add adult language, just to make it seem more understanding. Of course, characters can develop 'le tension' so they might go through a phase where it's all 'woohooing' everywhere. The issue is that you don't want someone telling you, "where's the smut," when your story doesn't revolve around that or if you didn't plan on pairing anyone. I don't know, you can basically make anything sexual, like putting bread in a toaster, and it seems that's what readers want nowadays.

I know what you mean. I have an M-rated story and I had clarified that for "M" I meant that my story had mostly violence, gore, crude language, and some sexual content. A few chapters in, there wasn't even a romance going and I had someone get really upset and demand that I put a sex scene because "you're already x chapters in for god's sake".

Now, don't get me wrong... I do read lemons from time to time and I have absolutely nothing against them, but I find the logic that "all M-rated fics need to be smut-heavy" to be rather flawed. Personally I rated my stuff "M" because I didn't think the amount of violence and gore in my fic was suitable for a T-rating. And although I know it upsets some people to read an M-fic and find out that there's no graphic sex, I'd rather not get my work removed off of FFnet because I rated it wrong. sweatdrop

Haha, couldn't agree more. I posted an M story and I know there's going to be intimacy involved since it deals with the plot. The issue is that I've written other M oneshots that involve complete and total lemons and it's like, I want to add an intimate phase in my stories when the time comes, but then you wonder what people are going to say to/criticize you for since you've already written lemons before and that's all they're looking for.

Hello all. I'm back for a little bit. One of my unfinished stories recently got a review that I'm not sure how to take? lol

"i'm enjoying reading this story but i can't help but think that bilbo is a little too childish in this fic. Was this your intention or did the story just run away from you?"

My writing style tends to lean towards the light and fun aspects of a beginning before it dives off into the abyss of seriousness. I know that and some of my readers know that. I guess I'm more puzzled because I kind of don't get what this person is getting at? Like, Okay, you like my story so far. But you don't like how I write the characters. Okay...but isn't that what fanfiction is? Especially when it's been tagged as AU?

Will someone break this down for my work/school stressed brain to comprehend?

Thanks heart
