Midagi watched them go, common sense warring with the instinct to escort the ladies home. Common sense and a healthy dose of self preservation prevailed and he kept his mouth shut until they were out of sight. Once they were gone, he tentatively pushed himself back to his feet. The damage she did to his leg was minimal, which could have meant that she wasn't particularly strong. He didn't believe that, though. She hadn't really been trying to hurt him.
With a shake of his head, he headed inside his walls, mulling over what had happened that day.

The next day, true to her word, Zahavah showed up to help Midagi. She left her children in the care of their father and his familiar. She had summed up the whole encounter, with a good deal of grumbling and ranting about the block headed Midagi.
Over the next few weeks, the two soqs worked relatively closely together and learned more about one another. Midagi learned that Zahavah was rather creative when it came to compensating for her size. This only increased Midagi's fear of her. His respect for Pavlov, whom he never got to meet, only grew, however. To Midagi's way of thinking, any stallion who could control a spitfire like Zahavah was truly impressive.
On the other side, Zahavah never did quite grow to like Midagi, but she did learn enough of him to grow to respect his sense of honor and his protective abilities. She didn't need to like Midagi in order to work with him. Besides, little Nova seemed to think highly of him, and Zahavah couldn't find any reasonable reason to n** that friendship.
When Midagi's home was finally completed, or at least as close to completed as it could be while ignoring the finer details, Zahavah dropped her visits down to once every couple weeks just to check in and make sure Midagi didn't need assistance with anything else. The distance did wonders for their strained relationship.
