Ashral frowned with pain as he simplified what she had said, "..i'm not... I'm not trying to make you choose.." She looked away for a moment with sadness in her eyes but forced herself to look at him. She narrowed her eyes solemnly, "The only family I have is you.." she retorted softly as she frowned a sighed. "All I know is that I want to stay with you..... You... help me feel better in my head and I want to protect that." she tried her best to explain what it was she felt as she gripped her arm tighter but kept her eyes fixated on him. "I never knew my family... only Shogu."
"You keep saying that but I don't believe that!" she snapped back at him defensively then furrowed her brows with concern. "Everything I've seen of him is cowardice... I don't understand any of that. And Mara is even worse!" Ashral suddenly blinked with confusion and surprise. Hexxis was reset in some way. She felt a little bad, but only a little. "...is that why we went back to Belrad..." she whispered, looking to the ground in thought. "She said at first that she didn't know why she went there but then kept saying everything was necessary and started doing ridiculous things... calling that merc, hanging out with him, riding motorcycles, taking dangerous missions. I thought I understood but I don't think I did at all. It just looked so pointless. Like she'd given up and refused to go back. I kept telling her to go back... to call one of you but she kept telling be she wouldn't." she sighed, "Sorry, none of that is really important or relevant.. just talking I guess..."
She nodded slowly and looked to him as he said he was sure about her going and reaching out to her brother. "Well your opinion does matter... which is why I even asked." she responded bluntly then gripped her arm tight again as he asked his questions. "Tri has always seemed dishonest to me... leaves out information, makes promises he can't keep, and even covers things up for his own benefit. He's a coward. But like I said, you are different... You keep coming back for me even when you really shouldn't.. You try to understand me the way I am and you stick around even at my worst.. I know I've only known you for a little bit of time, but it's enough to set you both apart vastly..." she then shifted her eyes away and bit her lip a bit, "I'm not.. afraid of my brother... I mean, I kind of am.. but not because he hurt me.." she closed her eyes and took a deep breath and looked at Ree in the eyes again though she still continued her hold on her arm. "When I was alive, I had things I wanted to tell him but was too afraid to tell him at all... In the end, I had to kill him because he became corrupted by the souls in the swords he made... I killed him with the sword that I became... I really regretted not telling him the truth about how I felt, and how I feel now. I guess, I'm just nervous... I don't know how he felt and how he'd take it if I did tell him...." she frowned and shifted her eyes away to the side finally. "I just wanted to make sure that you... as my new brother... are okay with me going to talk to my old brother..."

All I know is that I want to stay with you..... You... help me feel better in my head and I want to protect that.I never knew my family... only Shogu.""
Placing the pack down on the bed he looked up at her in faint surprise and then look thoughtful. " I...." he stopped and his wings lowered slightly as his mind moved to the pictures still in his pocket. That was the past she was still intrinsically woven with it. "It is not really me.." he muttered quietly. "It is you as well " he smiled very faintly until she jumped to the other topic they were discussing and slowly the smile faded.
Ree meet her gaze and narrowed his eyes at her shout but didn't respond in kind. He wasn't going to change her view of Tri and Mara and he couldn't see where she was coming from so he just let it drop. As long as they moved out of the area before either of them came they would be fine....if they even came. Hexxis...now he could talk about her, rant about her with the information Ashral was giving him.
"The excuse she gave us was that she felt something wrong and didn't know what could push it over. So we couldn't ask questions but she gave us some vauge story about wolves and cats. On the other hand, she was here sleeping with mercs, getting a merc license, taking dangerous missions. I don't know she seems like she was perfectly content here as long as she didn't have us or you there. " his voice started out calm then turned bitter as he talked. He had hope she could bring Tri out of his shell.. replace the child he wasn't any more. She did quite well, down to the stupid run away teen and assuming she knew better. Now he was here basically not wanting to do the same but being forced to unless he wanted one side to attack the other.
"It's not relevant any more but it still makes me furious. You must have had it worse actually being in her head. I feel like I should feel sorry or even guilty... but I just feel anger and apathy when I have to think about her. Add with what you said she was doing.... " he just shook his head, feather bristling.
"If you want to rant or tear into her... feel free any time" he continued on bitterly, remembering the moment in the hotel before Tri had appeared, everything had been fine until that moment then it tore apart. She seemed to have taken his words to heart but she didn't keep the loyalty he thought she would, especially to Tri.
Tri...the difference between them. He always had respect for Tri, wanted to be a little like him, a little like Mara but at the end was Ashral right about the differences between them? Did he blind himself? he had to think about that
"I cam back because you were...honorable. During the few times we talked, the fact you changed the deal and kept to it,the time in the clearing when you had no collar. " he waved his hand in the direction of aldas. " and that you want to protect me. I kind of want to be able to be someone you can lean on as well. A friend. but not one who wouldn't at least try to stop you when you over stepped " his mind going back to an old memory, just a few months old, of talking to a blind meta at Sanctuary and her connection to the renegades.
"I understand" he nodded slightly, remember what she told him and knowing it was more for her brother, her real brother. The explanation made him frown "He was corrupted by the souls he took? " the thought of it made him think back to the glowy figures he saw in the lower level of Norcrest SIU base...where those spirits? and someone could capture them?. "So...he might be a malice" he said quietly and sighed.
"Lets go see your brother... then we have to wait a week. Want to take one of the boats to the nearest island? I am not familiar with this area...so we could look around I guess then come back before the meeting" he muttered trying to get back some of the energy he got from looking at new places but felt the lack.

Ashral bit her lip a bit and nodded, smiling just a bit as he said it was her as well. It was nice. He was acknowledging that she had been trying to be better.
Ree started in on Hexxis and she couldn't deny what he said nor did she have any reason to defend what she did. Simply put, Hexxis didn't seem like she wanted to come back and betrayed her family, which made her just as dishonorable as Tri. "Well, I was there for most of that time, I saw a lot... Like more of that mercenary than I ever wanted to... Hexxis didn't care. She told me to be quiet and that she did what she wanted... So, being stuck in that situation was pretty bad I guess..." she sighed then shook her head. "Though, if she thought something was wrong and now she's all robot again... do you think something is wrong with me too? She didn't think she could talk about it, but she never mentioned anything to me about it. I just wonder since I found out I actually have command phrases that I didn't even know about... And honestly, that's kind of scary. If that place can still control me... then what else did they do to me..." she sighed and thought for a bit.
He spoke of her honor and she couldn't help but smile faintly. She nodded, "And that's what I want as well... I want to be more stable... and be someone you can rely on... I just... I regretted not being strong enough to protect my brother from becoming corrupt and I don't want that to happen again.. You're a good person, Ree... and I want others to see what I see in you..." she spoke softly, a slight flush of color in her face before she sighed and closed her eyes a moment then looked to Ree.
"When we were alive, yes... I heard the souls in the swords... I think he could too... He might have been putting them in there." she thought for a moment then shook her head. "I honestly don't know... I don't know how people even classify us if we are Malices or Manes... I've just been told my whole time being in Hexxis that I was a Malice... so I wouldn't even know if he was one too..." she explained with a slight frown. She had never heard of those terms before when she had been alive, only after she woke up inside the body of another person. Since then she was labeled as a Malice and that's all she knew.
She nodded as he offered they go to the tree and wait a week on a nearby island and then come back for the meeting. "That sounds like a good plan.." she smiled and let go of her arm, desummoned her sword and stepped calmly toward Ree. "We should get going... Before Mara shows up... I would just rather not deal with her then... since you'd rather I not hurt her... it's best just to keep running from her for now so that doesn't happen by accident."

Keep running... That didn't sit well with him at all. Except he didn't know what else to do, at least Anadii was safe with Kai and Tri would likely assume he was hiding when his phone was just dead. He wasn't running nor hiding but he was wasn't he.
"It's a pity...you and Hexxis seemed to have almost been working together back at that house. It might have helped you both if she hadn't been a pain in the neck" he muttered and sighed "Something wrong? If I had to guess...since this is Haven and they managed to put in Commands. Hm I would say yes, but it was Tri and Anadii who unlocked Hexxis breakdown protocol file, I didn't see it. Tri didn't exactly mention you. Not sure if it is because it isn't there or he was hiding it" he frowned faintly looking thoughtful, but what ever chance they had just digitized himself away and he needed time to get his phone working and then who knows. "We will work on it. As soon as we find some where a bite more stable" //and isolated// he thought taking a quick look around.
"Write the quick letter you want to leave him" he muttered grabbing the hotel note pad and passing it over to her. "We can leave it then wait until the coast is clear." knowing Mara will assume they will go to the island or head back to Belrad. It still gave them some ti-...wait a week? Shadows and ghosts.... huh they might meet her brother sooner then that. At least he now had an idea who to look out for.
"Soul in the swords? " he muttered quietly moving the conversation back to what she had been talking before. Trying to figure out anything else he should know. "You heard them? what did they say? " faintly curious and also concerned. She she actually hear them or did she just hear voices that were mostly in her mind?.
"As for putting soul in swords..I would consider that bad...very bad" he smirked faintly, not even sure that was possible. Then again he barely believed in spirits until he summoned that cat thing. "I think it is how they classify things? A mane is mostly good and tries to protect the host while a malice tries to hurt the host. I think the main difference is their personality. " he ruffled his wings." If a mane started hurting the host I guess that would turn it into a malice and visa versa. Plus manes are less incline to hurt others who are not hurting their host " he looked thoughtful then shrugged.
"If that is the only way to classify them...I think they are just spirits and are classified on how they interact. Truth be told I didn't even think what Spectrum said was true until well... you" he muttered putting the back up and mentally kicking himself because he forgot to take out Anadii's clothes and give it to him. "You're also before the great war...I think? So many people who died of any race. If metas can host a spirit and they can return as you are, it makes me wonder if you're not part meta as well. Or if we were created just to host you " which made him wonder about those metas who didn't have a mane or malice in the first place. "Perfect question for Kae......she would likely shrug" he sighed.
Okay pass by that other city, do a little er.. "shopping" because it was doubtful that his tricks will work if the place they head to are full true race ghosts. Ghosts... spirits.. hahahahaha. Hi...i'm a Shadow and didn't think spirits existed. "The voices... what do you think the difference between a body less spirit and a True Race Ghost is? just a body?" he looked thoughtful and shrugged, not really expecting and answer just ..wondering.
"....at least I know not to flare my aura in greetings now" he muttered softly to himself and opened the door to wait outside. Up side of this...if it was a true race place then less worry of humans and their warrant.

"We had parallel goals back then... she wanted to find Tri as did you, and I wanted to stay with you. It made sense to work with her...." she frowned, "...but circumstances changed when she ran away..." she sighed along with him and looked around a moment before focusing on Ree, "Breakdown protocol? What is that?" she seemed confused by the name of it as she slid her eyes away thinking, her eyes narrowing in anger. "I wouldn't doubt he'd hide it. I bet it has crucial information in it and is hoping I set off my own and turn into a subservient robot like Hexxis..." she muttered in spite then frowned. "I know Hexxis was trying to skirt around it, but I'm not afraid of it. I want to know what it is, then maybe there's a way to stop it."
As he told her to write a note and handed a notepad to her she walked over to the desk and pulled a pen into her left hand and began to write on the pad.
"Dearest brother... I am relieved to see that you are also here in the material realm. I wish to see you again as well. I have so much I need to tell you.. I will meet you back here at the tree at dusk in one weeks time.. It has been far too long, I almost cannot wait. Ashral"
She finished writing, then set down the pen and folded it in half, putting it in her other stocking before turning to Ree and giving a single nod to say she was done. "...the voices?.." she closed her eyes and tried to remember the best she could. "...I don't really remember.. They would just whisper to me when I was underneath the floor. Tell me to go places, do things, or just repeat what others said like echoes... Uhm... they would tell me to come out of the floor and play with them a lot... I never did what they said though, but I could hear them."
"It's what my family did... people bought them, so I don't think it was all that bad probably... I don't know." she thought for a moment, trying to remember as much as she could about it but not much would come to her on it.
"I guess that's just confusing.. I mean, don't spirits naturally protect their host because without them, there's no link or something... I mean, yeah, I hurt her a lot, but it created a lot of energy that way and I wanted to get out as soon as I could. But that changed when we made the deal, I changed how I drew my power from her, I didn't hurt her at all after that.. so does that make me a Mane because I wasn't hurting her anymore?... And honestly, thinking on it, I've only really hurt people that hurt Hexxis first when I was still with her. The only person I attacked that hadn't started it was Tri... he was the only one, and I don't really know why he makes me feel so... red..." she frowned, looking at Ree with a concerned look as she tried to understand it, but it was just a bit too far out of her grasp of comprehension.
She titled her head slightly at the question of the difference between body-less spirits and True Race Ghosts. "I suppose a material form that can be touched or seen. Ghosts were never alive at any point, but spirits are of those who had died." she answered and gave a faint smile.
She perked an eyebrow up at the comment about aura and she covered her mouth with a hand as she tried not to laugh but the snicker was there. Amused from the subject. "I feel like there's a very interesting story behind that... You'll have to tell it to me later..." she seemed to tease with a smile then walked out behind him. "Let's go... we don't have much time to waste."

"Maybe... maybe not. A lot of your commands seem to be meant for battle. " he closed his eyes for a moment thinking back, wishing he has his la- oh wait he did. He just couldn't go and look into it right now, assuming Tri or Anadii didn't erase it.
"I wonder... if they tried to make you like Hexxis." he looked thoughtful as he closed the door behind her. " If they didn't somehow succeed. You have a hard time remembering things... I don't know if that is normal or if it might not be Haven's interference. Same for Tri... you don't know why you hate him. Well you call him a coward but you don't react the same to those who are ... maybe he is similar to some target you had to go after before? Or I am just scaring you with possibilities" he sighed, talking to the one afflicted about possibilities really wasn't the best of move. He seemed to be doing that often lately.
"Tri and Anadii know...considering we scared one off and the other one won't be happy to talk to me about it. " he sighed. "We will have to talk to Anadii...I have to talk to Anadii" he amended with another sigh, if Anadii was even willing to talk to him.
"I will have to see... later " he muttered before moving back on the topic of spirits as he stayed by her, leading the way to the edge of the town as he took in a deep breath of the foggy sea air again. He kind of liked it even with its haunted atmosphere.
"Maybe ...you turned into a Mane once the deal was taken up? Spectrum really is the place the does most investigation on them..I can only guess" he warned. "or you straddled the line... or Haven messed up a mane enough to be almost a Malice. I can do assumptions all day ..and sadly be unable to prove anything. I guess the only thing I can say is what I believe to be true. Taking off the classifications if ..you have a spirit trapped in a body." he held up both hands as if each one was an example of what he was talking about.
"Now they need energy to get out and they can get it passively I think..or through pain. The way the spirit chooses to get energy is how they are classified, so what prevents one spirit from switching between them depending their host and environment? If I were stuck in the body of someone I dislike I wouldn't be surprised if I turned into a malice just to get the heck out. Or visa versa. If spirit are people who used to be alive... they still have their own will right?..you do " he smiled very faintly as if the talk was helping him avoid other thoughts.
"So... I think that the classifications is just that classification. Makes it easier on others...but if malice and manes are spirits...and your family put spirits in swords. Were the swords magic? did they use the magic of the person or what did a soul do to the sword. The part I think is bad ...would be ..well. You were stuck in Hexxis... at some point she wouldn't let you leave and warn us which would have been helpful. A soul in a sword...wouldn't even have that mobility. Would they even sense what is outside the sword or would they just be trap within it? " a slight shiver ran through him as he actually tried to imagine that.
He trailed off as she mentioned the aura and he stopped talking only to stare at her and blush slightly. "........ Uh... maybe. ... it's stupid. " he muttered looking away as they stopped at the edge of the town. "Flying...are you ready?"

"Battle?... so to make me fight?..." she frowned as she thought about the implications. If she was built for battle then what was Hexxis conditioned for? Also, that meant that Ree at least had some idea what the commands were or what they had been about. She didn't feel like prying too much on it, just accepting that he probably did. "I don't know if they tried to make me like Hexxis. It's true, I don't remember much about my time at Spectrum.. or with Haven operatives. I just know they did things to Hexxis and made her into a weapon to combat other Metas. Makes me wonder what my purpose to them was..." she paused and looked at him with concern, "I.. suppose you're right. Thinking on it, I only get that way about Tri. I mean, sure there are people that get me mad.. like Mara or the kid that just left... but with Tri it feels different. Like I just want to see his blood spilled at any cost.." she sighed and nodded to him about Tri and Anadii knowing. Of course they did.
"You really think so? That maybe I became a Mane or that I was once one?" she thought for a moment. "If it's as easy as how I drew power, then I could just say I'm a Mane... would that make it better if I had claimed I was a Mane and just didn't hurt her at all? Is that really all it takes? Maybe people wouldn't hate me so much if I just said I wasn't a Malice at all..." she seemed to almost be rambling to herself before shaking her head a bit. "I don't get it, honestly.. but I suppose we can figure it out later."
"I don't know much anything about why my family put souls into the swords... Just that they did. At least, I know Shogu did that with every sword he made. As far as the sword I became, there was no soul attached to that sword. when I died, I guess my soul attached to it. I fell asleep for a very long time until I woke up when Hexxis merged with my sword and our souls joined. I don't remember anything from my time being a sword, only that I definitely was in there."
She stepped closer to him and gave a faint smile. "Yeah.. I'm ready. Let's go." she responded with a slight nod.
