It seemed that, just as the girl had emboldened herself, something felt the need to cause unnecessary panic again. A loud roar caused Naia to yelp and try to turn so she could face the source, but the young trainer's feet had other plans. One refused to turn with the rest of the girl's body and pulled her off balance, causing Naia to land on her rear end. Once again sitting on the branch, it didn't take long for the girl to hear cackling from the culprit, a colorful bird pokemon with a strangely shaped head. Naia glared in response, but the bird was already bored with her and far more interested trying to get at whatever might be hiding within the bark of the tree. "Stupid bird," the young trainer muttered as she got back to her feet and slowly continued on her way. While she was certain Garnet would have no trouble with the fowl, there was no reason to start a fight this high up. It would just waste the ghost's strength.

It took some time but Naia eventually reached the tower of wood that made up the trunk of the giant tree. Looking below, the girl could see numerous branches shooting out in varying directions, growing thicker the further down she could see. Not that she could actually see very far down, as the branches and the leaves sprouting from them made it difficult to see more than a handful of yards below her, and that was the best she could manage. But it was enough that she could see what branches would serve as her more immediate steps on this natural staircase downward. Some of them served as rather long drops, but as long as she aligned herself correctly, her landing would only be painful and not damaging. "J-just like splunking back home..." she insisted to no one but herself as she carefully lowered herself down so she could drop to a nearby branch below.
While the trainer was continuing her journey down the tree, up somewhere far above was a gathering of pokemon. The Scatterbug group were climbing around, yelling and being rowdy. Some encouragement, some laughter and all would be having some kind of competition. A climbing one, of course! As the top two contenders were getting towards the top, one lost her grip on the tree. As she started falling, resigned to her fate (it definitely wasn't the first time this happened). She would probably hit the tree hard enough to get a bruise but otherwise be fine. What she spotted out of the corner of her eye was Naia. Uh-oh. Yelling at the human to watch out, the Scatterbug was going to accidentally Tackle the trainer if she didn't move quickly enough out of the way!

Hunt for a spot overlapping a lower branch, hang from the edge, and drop down. Such was the pattern that the girl tried to focus her attention on. It meant she had to look down often, but the heights became slightly less dizzying after the first few branches. Whether that was actually the case or if it was merely her rhythm giving her comfort, the girl wasn't sure. Unfortunately, Naia was about to find out.
As she hung off the edge of a branch to yet again drop down, she heard a tiny cry from above grow louder. Looking up, Naia's eyes widened as something black and white fell towards her. Without even a thought of what the yelling object was, the girl tried to pull herself over to one side in an attempt to dodge whatever was dropping down from the heavens. Either she would be successful and the creature would wizz by or she would be too slow and probably fall with it.
Her initial attack failed. The Rhyhorn's hard skin and rock solid pose felt nothing of her astonish attack. She should have flown away, but instead, she twirl infront of his horn as she began the next line of the song.
It was an astonishing thing to see considering he could easily squash her. Though she had no fear as she sang right in his strike zone, twisting and twirling to the song.
((Your odds are slim))
((The walls are thin, cavin' in))
((But there is still a way, you see))
((In just one mere percent of chance ))
((There's possibility))
Her attack hitting as the drums started to roll. A swift change in the mood, her feathers almost covering up the blurring attack as she turned around and hit the pokemon again. This time, she aimed the snap of her wings for a much softer target...eyes.
There was a good reason for why she had refused all through this song to simply fly away. She needed a good position to put him down, and the best one was close to his face. There was plenty of areas here where astonish might work as they actually chose to counter attack.
Once more, it seemed the call was given without the boy calling a single command. But it was the rhythm of the song, their moves themselves already well rehearsed based on the song itself...that could literally change based on the word or melody. This one wasn't called Strike back for nothing.
Muziki smiled, he wasn't actually doing anything at this moment. His hand holding onto the healing object. He had set the speakers and the recorder to play the song. That way both of them was free to pay attention to the battle, even as he pay attention to the music.
He couldn't speak pokemon, but his partner's tone and melody blended perfectly with the music. So, he simply concentrated on his part in this as he let her follow the instructions from the song. His hope was that things wouldn't spiral out of control. This was not an easy battle for them at all.
Brian had the chopper drop him off in the same area he'd left from, and he was hoping that this time, he might at least have a slim chance of beating and catching his second Pokemon. He still felt a little down with the first loss, and resolved that he would train himself and Purr so that they were both stronger. Right now, however, he was hoping that he could at least make it to the hotel and find the item he was supposed to look for. If he encountered a Pokemon along the way, then so be it.
Gravity must have added speed to the Scatterbug's fall because the pokemon hit the trainer dead on before falling on the branch below. The pokemon looked confused for a second, before coming to her senses. Crud. Now she had to get all the way back up to the top to join her friends. Glancing at the trainer she had knocked in, she begrudging agreed the human had saved her from falling all the way to the bottom and thus made her journey slightly shorter. Finding a small knot in the tree, she would pull out a berry covered by a leaf. Flinging the berry in the general direction of the trainer, the small bug would begin her climb back up, this time at a much slower rate. She wasn't racing anymore so there was no need to hurry.
Was this Murkrow out of her mind? The Rhyhorn watched as the pokemon dove to try and take another hit at him. The first blow had done nothing but glance off his hide. It was a mere irritation to a creature like him. Instead, he would lower his head and since the pokemon was doing him a favor and getting close aiming to maul the Murkrow with Horn Attack!
This helicopter seemed to be a little less adventurous. Instead of dropping his student, it would land directly on the flat surface. Dirt would be swirling everywhere but when it cleared, the helicopter was already on it's way back. Brian was left alone with only his pokemon for company. They had landed in a barren wasteland. The temperature was burning up, with nothing in sight for miles all around. The only choice they had was to chose a direction and start walking!
The Frying Pan The first thing you notice as you land upon the mushroom rock is how hard it is to tell where the earth meets the sky. The air is clear, and you can see for miles over the flat dusty expanse. If you squint, you may notice strange glassy or dark patches, but for the most part, the world is whiter than a bone and twice as lifeless. The atmosphere is strangely charged-- the air picks up as you make your way down, as if ushering you forward. This place is not for humans. Keep moving.
As Brian had just reached the area once more, the helicopter barely back in the air, a pokemon would move right by. A Nosepass wouldn't pay any attention at all to the trainer as it would determinedly continue on it's path. It had much better things to do. It would seem there were more and more humans every day coming on this island. It was none of his business and he didn't have time to mess around. So the trainer would be free to continue on his journey.

Naia Lowell Viridian Division
Trainer Injury - 1/5
Too slow. In spite of her efforts, Naia ended up with a chest full of bug and was slammed off the branch she had been hanging from. At least the girl landed on another, lowe branch instead of falling to the ground, so while she was hurt, it was far better than being a red smear on the forest floor below. Groaning as she worked to get up, Naia noticed that something blue was tossed sort of at her. The bug had recovered from its fall faster than she had (perhaps it had a softer landing?) and had knocked an oran berry towards her as... an apology? Thanks? Whatever the reason, the black and white bug had apparently done it on purpose. "Heh, thanks..." she told the bug with a bit of a grimace as she tucked the berry in with the rest of her belongings and the two went on their separate ways: it up the tree to rejoin its friends and her downwards to continue her mission.
The attack was successful as Atiena felt her Astonish go off without a hitch. She would literally fly around the pokemon as she continued her song. It would see that no matter whether the attack was successful or not, she wouldn't stop her singing until the battle was over as it seemed like she was taunting the pokemon now.
The volume of her voice seeming to reach an almost feverish pitch as she continued. The excitement in her voice seemed to grow higher and higher with each word that she chirp.
((I won't sit back and accept the hand we are dealt ))
((A fate that's thrown out by some else))
((There is still a future I can see))
((One I hope you'll share with me))
The Murkrow would literally wink at him, before she would power her way upwards as something flew through the air to hit the pokemon in the face.
The object spinning away as it's colors of red and white would seem to blur together.
A poke ball.
The boy would smile then as he would seem to take up the next verse. How much the Rhyhorn actually heard, might be hard to know, as it seemed either in or out of the poke ball the show would literally go on.
"BRING IT ON!
Cause, I am just going to grow up in the battle
Pushin past the limit I'm still burning like fire
And for our future I am fighting
I gotta drown this nightmare
And ain't nobody going to stop me!"
Yup, whether the Rhyhorn stay or not, the music would continue on without him. The only choice, the pokemon had was whether or not, he would continue to be apart of the melody or would he chose to stay in the poke ball and become a part of this literal musical duo's future performances.
It would seem that Naia had all the luck or maybe her misfortune had it's own twisted ending. A berry for her trouble, it was truly good luck as a pokemon would seem to ignore her completely as it swung from the tip of one leaf.
Her feet dangling as she held onto the leaf with her mouth.
In a world where she is seen as food, this pokemon had learned long time again to not be curious and to quite simply blend in.
After all, it was for her survival.
The curse of simply being a Bounsweet.

Oblivious to the bounsweet and whatever plight it might have, Naia continued on her way downward. The girl wanted to reach the bottom both safely and quickly, and as such her eyes were tuned towards the branches below rather than those above. Besides, she had bigger things to take up her attention, such as the nests she had noticed as she traveled. Most of them were small, but some were fairly large, and the girl could have sworn she passed by at least one that more than five of her could easily sit inside. She did not want to meet whatever could make a nest that large, so downward she continued.
Brian noticed that nearly as soon as he departed from the chopper, a Nosepass moved directly in front of him, though it didn't stop. This was fine with Brian; at the moment, the only real damaging attack that Purr had was Scratch, and that would have little to no effect on a Rock-type like Nosepass. It would be nice to add a second Pokemon to his team, but that could wait a bit longer. Right now, he wanted to get the item he was supposed to find before taking on another battle.
That one hit had been enough to almost KO the Rhyhorn. One ultimately lucky hit. Before the pokemon had a chance to move, to charge or do anything, the pokeball hit him. The pokemon was engulfed in a bright red light. The ball would spin frantically before slowing down to rock back and forth and then....it was quiet. The pokeball stopped moving. The trainer had just caught an area guardian without Atiena taking any damage at all from her opponent. In fact, the pokemon seemed to be feeling pretty good right now....
