Well, it's a hang out thread XD I consider Pokemon Christmassy since I got my first game, and even leafgreen, for christmas. I think Omega Ruby as well... hmm.

Oh. You want ribbons? See, the only reason my charizard has so many ribbons is because he and my lapras are best friends and are together all the time and I decided that I needed to know my lapras knew I loved her even though I sent her to all my games and had to start friendship from scratch over and over and over so I worked on getting her as many ribbons as I could. She now has... I forgot. I'll look it up. She has 39 ribbons and I am in the process of embroidering them all. I think I have done 26 but I will check. I have finished 24. Anyway, point is, I take him around and so since she gets ribbons, if it's a team thing, he gets ribbons.

Transferring them up is a hassle, I did it the year before last maybe? Took a looong time, I did it around this time of year I think. You can't just go from Soulsilver to pokemon bank, you have to transfer to black/white/w2/b2 and do a mini game and then from there to pokemon transfer and then from there into pokemon bank. Takes ages.

I dunno, I have three dragonite plushies (I bought myself one for getting my diploma ^_^) but I don't have many else that lance has, no dragonair plushies, nor gyarados. I have lots, though. I haven't bought any lately, except my mimikyu ( 4laugh ) for a long while. Guess I'm happy with what I have.

Aw it's so nice you still have a 1999 plushie ^_^ I love how they have such character, very iteration is kind of different.

I don't do much collecting anymore. Though I did get a new charizard figure from my con. Most of my money went on stickers from artists. I didn't spend a lot but it's good to support artists and I looove stickers. Some of those cards have art which is so lovely. I guess you could call them artistic miniatures ^^

Fair enough ^^ I got my first one on my 8th birthday in 2000 (Yellow Special Edition, together with a see through GB Color).
Most of my childhood birthday presents were medium sized Lego sets and I still have all Lego I ever owned with me. sweatdrop It's about 4 boxes you use for moving your stuff...and quite heavy. Made my last moving into a new flat quite the ordeal (3rd floor).

Concerning the ribbons: wait, you create the ribbons IRL? That's even more amazing to me, I understood is only as "I make them see every aspect of the game and they then journey on to the next gen".

And my 1999 Pikachu is still on the chunky side, as it was back then.
I think I got the right one here ; no box tho rofl that's long gone.

I, myself, am more on the skinny side as my metabolism kinda thinks that life is a race and it gotta go fast. However, I do not mind a bit of chubby, it's nice for hugging. It's true for plushies, and it's true for humans. lol

I never got Yellow as a kid but I got the virtual game ^^ It was nice ^^ Lol all my LEGO is Harry Potter and I don't have nearly so much, but LEGO is always worth keeping ^_^

Yeah, I make the ones for my lapras on a 1:0.5 scale (one pixel : a quarter of a stitch) on linen. They're about half the size of my thumb. My charizard's ribbons are a bit smaller but they're made out of metal and felt and ribbon. Eventually, I want to make a wall hanging of my lapras with all her ribbons as applique.

WOW! I have the same one! I had to go find it and take a picture! I had no idea it was from '99, it was a present from someone from their collection.

XxXxX

Yes yes yes...YES!! Never sell your Lego, never sell your collectibles (last only exception if you are in serious debt and they are worth quite some money)!
I once sold most of my Magic collection when I left in 2010, but 6 years later I started again and regretted it so hard. emo So many good and, moreover, expensive cards.
Never again, I swore, never again.

I was never good at crafting with my hands, and thus I highly appreciate anyone who is both willing and able to craft things. I am more of the thinker type, and craft with my mind. Perhaps the difference between what my mind can and my hands cannot craft was the reason I stopped back when I was younger...? Only Freud and pals would know rofl

Yes, that Pikachu is the one, I'd always recognize it ^_^ it's from 1998 apparently, but I got it 1999, that's why I call it that way razz

Wow my pikachu is as old as my panda! That's so cool to know ^^ I don't really collect things to have a collection, but I find if I put cheerful things where I can see them then I stay more cheerful. It's hard to think 'okay, happy thoughts' without some kind of visual reminder. I was sick for a long time to the point where I forgot everything that made me happy and having things around (I know they're just things, though) are like 'ah, that's my favourite movie' and 'ah, my favourite books.'

I have heard the same advice about cards and I'm like 0.o that's so scary. A friend's mother gave her entire collection away without asking. That happened to me with plushies and I still regret it even though I had no power.

I think I got to the point where I was like 'I will never improve if I don't make ugly stuff first' so I made things. Like my charizard's ribbons, those are very clumsy. I would never remake them, though, or anything else I could do better if I made it again, because it's a process. What kind of things do you craft with your mind?

Of course I do understand that my mindset might be the biggest point holding me back. But getting started is such a drag... sweatdrop lol

I like to think about "why" for a lot of stuff. I like to use my knowledge and logical thinking to explain a variety of different things, including for example certain observable behavior.
It's not all, let me put it delicately, SFW and as such I should not go into detail here. But if you are interested we can hit that up in PMs. Just be aware that I do not have a lot of taboo topics and I do not give 2 flying ones if normal social norms dictate "yea, you aren't supposed to talk about that in the open".

I think that conversation and the passing on of knowledge/wisdom is very important for us, as human beings. It doesn't have to be philosophical master level deep, tho.
For example:
During the Christmas season you meet up with your mother at your old home to bake some cookies for an upcoming event. While doing the work in the kitchen, are you silent?
Yes, you are: feels kinda weird doesn't it? Don't any of you two has something to tell? Or are you on bad terms? Why then, are you there?

No, there is some sound: you listen to music, or even sing some christmas songs together; you chat, bring each other up to speed. Work goes smoother and time flies by.

But why is it in that way observable? Is society forming us to behave that way? Or is it genetically coded into us, the social streak?

Sooooo many questions and I might never get a concluding answer ^_^ but it's a nice time killer.

I feel a lot of taboo subjects are taboo in order to control people, so it's important to be able to examine social mores in order to improve society.

Well. There's loads of parts of that example. For instance- I am female, so is my mother, and for the female gender, speaking is a way to communicate not simply what is being said but that there is no negative issues. A silent communication is often negative. Whereas there's no (or not so much) similar social pressure for men to reassure each other that neither is angry by chattering; they can be silent and companionable.

Though, my mother and I never ever cook together. My mother gets stressed and lashes out when cooking. I leave her alone, she's happier that way.

Philosophical discussion is very interesting ^^ I don't understand so much of what makes people think, and yet somehow I understand behaviour very well? Odd. I prefer plushies to people.

I do get the feeling too, that taboos are a control option. I mean, historically speaking, it always has. I understand that there are radical propositions which are making people feel uncomfortable but rebutting them on the basis on feeling or morale outrage alone is in my eyes a weak counterargument.

Ofc there are differences between ♂♂, ♀♂ and ♀♀ communication; certain things just mean something different. There is a whole psychological and/or biological reasoning behind that.

I am sorry your mother is that way. My mother was always quite eager for me to stand on my own 2 feet which also means that I have to be able to cook for myself. We didn't chat about stuff tho, it was mostly, when we spoke, about the cooking/next steps/certain special terms. Like "Mehlschwitze" (translator says it's called "roux" in english). I screwed up a soup when I was alone once, because I cooked a recipe from a fantasy book with didn't specify that it meant a roux so I just poured the flour into the water sweatdrop emotion_facepalm

I do understand your sentiment to prefer non-humans to human in interaction. I mean, gimme a dog any time of the day and I will probably ditch all human interaction safe for one with my GF ^_^
I guess that's because I got a lot of negative time in my elementary school and ditched human interaction for the better part of ~6 years. Had to learn basic human interaction and I am still at it today ^_^
