Quirking his lips, Halle didn't explain that the real menaces with puzzles were their past selves. He'd find out if he joined enough of those clearing endeavors.

"Show up and they'll know," he shrugged. "There's teams and like..."

He was a little less sure here, because knew of them, but the details about them were a lot more vague. No mechanics, no rules, just vibes. "There's senshi courts and knight brigades. They have special powers, regarding special purifications? Like if a youma or something is getting purified, it takes more than just a royal." A sigh, "They're closer groups that work together. I've never been in one, so you'll have to try someone else. I heard..."

He looked to the side, a little awkwardly, "Uh. Princess Lysithea might know more? She has a court." He didn't add that he'd heard about it second hand, and in a description of a failed purification.

Looking up, and a little further up because Blarney was kind of obnoxiously tall the closer they stood, Halle answered, "No. I don't think everyone I know will be fine with putting aside their immediate goals and concerns for a nebulous idea of doing some things you feel could be better."

After a moment, he added, "So take the time to learn and make informed plans. I'm willing to help, but before you start asking people to make our ideas real, we need to respect their time and energy."

Honestly, Halle was fairly certain the biggest hurdle wasn't the immediate organization and willingness to join together to do a few things. It was creating something sustainable that was the issue.

Blarney pouted - he didn't mean, or want, it to be just things he thought they could do better. He didn't even know enough to know, specifically, what that meant or what it would look like! He brightened a little as Halle continued speaking: yes. Informed plans. That was what they needed.

He brightened a little more at the word 'our'. It warmed him a little, and made him feel less alone. It wasn't just him screaming into the void.

It was them screaming into the void.

"Okay," Blarney agreed. "Well, then I'm gonna wait on tracking down a literal princess 'til I know what we're actually asking about," he said with a chuckle - the idea of him speaking with royalty was, frankly, laughable to the point that he couldn't even imagine it, and he had a very fertile imagination.

"So what do you think I need to learn about? What's the first informed plan?" Blarney paused, then added with an impish smile and an overdramatically serious tone, "What can I do to respect your time and energy, Halle?" Blarney held it for a moment, then laughed, shaking his head at himself. "But really. I don't know what I'm doing. Give me, like, a to-do list and I will do my best to make it a to-done list."

There was no point in giving Lysithea that kind of awe, but Halle wasn't about to get into that. Besides the following demand made Halle want to laugh and then cry and then maybe choke Blarney with his bare hands. Just a little. As a treat.

But still, he folded like a letter and pulled out the notebook and pen once more. Even if it was accompanied by loud, periodic sighs.

Quote:

RANK UP TO SQUIRE

training:
- train as a civilian! It's safer and the gains are more efficient!
- strength! speed! endurance!
- defense classes would probably be a really good idea

working:
- use the buddy system when out and about! pages are the most vulnerable of any faction!! in some ways you're worse off than a regular civilian because you're a better target! always be ready to call for help!
- start cleaning and repairing your wonder! sometimes you'll find magical items there that can help or even save your life, keep an eye out!

learning:
- talk to as many deep space senshi (the ones that aren't human, weren't born on earth) as will talk to you. they know more and have experienced more than any of us! ask them about how their world fell, about the chaos that caused it.
- talk to more experienced knights and senshi and don't grill them on all the things they should be doing! ask them instead about like, their hardest fight or their first big one, or anything else that lets you learn from their experiences!
- take a first aid course (if you find a good one, let me know, I'll take it too)
- visit the moon palace, maybe talk to the code? idk I've just been talked at by the code with a bunch of other people. but it's a place we can go, which makes it a resource!

Tearing out the page and shoving it at Blarney, Halle began to turn away. "Try this, I'm running away before you draw up adoption papers or something." He sounded a little cranky, but couldn't hide the smile that accompanied his horrible tone. There was something extremely, he couldn't put a word on it, more meaningful than just nice and maybe a bit sadder than satisfying. It was, maybe, a chance to retry something that hadn't gone well. That had failed spectacularly before.

Blarney took the note, eyebrows raising slightly - this was a long to-do list, but--he looked up at Halle with a smile, determined, and a little sheepish. He had more questions - maybe by the time he leveled up to Squire, he'd have slightly fewer questions spawn every time one was answered.

"Thank you," Blarney said, voice soft and serious. "You're like..." Blarney trailed off, considering for a moment or two before he spoke. He didn't want to make Halle uncomfortable, but it really did mean a lot to him, everything Halle was giving him, what he'd done.

"You are exactly what I've been screaming at the universe for," he finally settled on, "and I just--thank you. For this," he said, holding up the to-do list before he folded it away into his subspace, "and for--everything. I--I hope I won't disappoint you."
