Shida carefully watched both the cub and their prey. She saw Kiho calculating and wondering. Her eyes also flickered to the rest of the herd, making sure they hadn't been spotted.
Luck was on their side. They still had the element of surprise. But a thought suddenly ran through her mind. She'd forgotten to ask one last question to Kiho... Hopefully, she would remember what to do...
Then finally, the cub nodded. She was ready. With a smirk, Shida took one last look and then turned her head slowly back to Kiho. Giving a firm nod, the watery lioness leaped forward. Kiho knew the drill. While Shida went for the back, Kiho would go after the legs and stomach. Since it was only the two of them, they had to bring down the young bull as quickly as possible. Because sometimes, the rest of the herd will try to save him.

Kione Kiho couldn't help the smile that spread across her muzzle. Even through the trial she gave herself to succeed and the burden that entailed, she couldn't help but to get excited about her first real hunt with Shida.
The signal was exchanged between the two, and in an instant, almost synchronized, Kione Kiho tore off after the wildebeast with Shida. She knew her objective point, and sharply circled to cut off the adolescent beast from the right, hoping to make escape difficult. She tried to not circle too widely, knowing the dangers of being cut off from Shida as a life-and-death situation.
As the wildebeasts started to panic, Kione Kiho felt her heart jerk suddenly in fear. She slid slightly, but caught herself before her legs buckled beneath her in the strain. As she slowed, she took a sharp turn to try to avoid the rest of the herd while still headed for her objective point. She couldn't disappoint, she had to make this work!

Shida kept her mind on the hunt and tried to keep her mind on their task. Kiho wasn't the only lioness excited. And nervous. If this didn't go well... Shida didn't know what she would do!
But she tried to forget about that. Instead, she ran behind the young bull and pounced up onto his back. Her long sharp claws dug into his hide as she sunk her deadly teech into his spine. If she could just paralyze him... That would take a lot of the pressure off of Kiho...

Kione Kiho noticed the other herdbeasts still in panic and shock, and she smirked as she realized the fortune of their confusion. If they just stayed that way long enough for her to help Shida take down that beast, they would abandon it for their own survival. At least, this is what she hoped.
Going into a sprint, she headed straight for their prime target, skidding to a stop as she grabbed onto one of it's legs with her teeth and yanking the beast off of its feet into a head-first tumble. She winced, hoping the shock wouldn't reach Shida on his back.
Taking another glance at the main herd group, she saw them finally retreating from the scene, seeing one of their own fallen. Did this mean she had succeeded? No... there was still this one to deal with. If he wasn't dead yet, then their duty wasn't completed, and he was still wriggling around to try and escape their clutches.
Kione Kiho hesitated, not sure exactly what to do at this point. Sure, she had seen Shida attack from the bottom of a wildebeast before, but she didn't exactly know how she did it. "Shida..?" she began before she realized the young adolescent getting his feet back under his weight. Her icy eyes grew and she snarled at him, swatting its head with a swipe of her paw to hit it to the ground.

Shida bite down hard and shook her head, trying to hit something vital. She raked her claws on his back as her back legs tried to get a hold.
As the wildebeast started to go headfirst, Shida growled and held on tighter. Through her teeth, the watery lioness growled, "Harder Kiho! Use your claws!!" If the cub didn't do something soon... This was going to be unsuccessful. Oh no! The bull was getting up! If only they had more lionesses!
No! It couldn't end like this! Shida scrambled up further onto the wildebeast's back and bit up closer to the base of his spine, on his neck.

The blank she was drawing coming in clearer, Kione Kiho nodded to Shida. She watched as Shida climbed higher on top of the wildebeast, weighing the adolescent back to the ground with her weight combined with his.
She held back her fear and began raking her claws across anything she came into contact with of their prey. Getting frusterated with how little damage she was doing, she continued clawing as she bit behind one of the beast's legs, shaking her head to try to tear the flesh. She didn't realize how tough their skin was to break, but at least they were doing some damage!
As she was doing so, she saw the other herdbeasts hesitate in their run, seeming to grow more confident as they realized how few lions were out here. Her eyes flashed fiercely, but inside she was fearing if they would make it out of this alive.
Backing up quickly, trying to tear the flesh away her eyes hooked onto the beast's neck. Of course, the windpipe! Leaping from her stronghold, she attacked her next route for accomplishment, sinking her teeth into the fleshy neck and pulling at it much like a dog playing tug-of-war would do. They had to finish this quickly, or they would be the ones finished!

Shida was busy with her job, praying that Kiho was going to be successful. She had her heart set on a nice big meal.
Driven by this thought, the blue lioness growled louder and raked her deadly claws. Come on... Come on! she thought, they had to work fast! But what more could she do? She couldn't find any weak point!
And when she finally DID think of a weak spot, she saw that Kiho had already found it. Good girl! My wonderful cub! Shida praised in her mind! Oh yes, she knew who was getting the first cut of their kill....
The wildebeast was bellowing, crying out in pain and anger. But his cries began to get weaker, and he struggled less and less. Shida became excited and bit in further, finally hitting something vital. By placing all her weight on his head, she heard a loud crack. And the wildebeast ceased all movement, all breathing.

As Kione Kiho bit down with all her might, she could feel the breath seeping from the punctured windpipe through her mouth and she realized she had done it. She wished that the beast would stop moving so much, not liking the fact that it was suffering but such a way of the wild was something she couldn't help. She was grateful when Shida had snapped his head from his neck, quickly ending the beast's suffering.
But she hadn't time to dwell on such matters. Although she was still latched onto the wildebeast's throat, making sure the adolescent was truly dead, she saw the rest of the herd coming back through the corner of her eye. She released her grip, noticing no more air blowing into her mouth, and caught Shida's gaze worriedly and nearly petrified. "Master, they're coming back! What do we do? We're too few!" she informed breathlessly.
Turning swiftly back to see the herd's progress, she panted nervously. With a sudden surge of anger and desperation, she let out with a cub's attempt at a roar, coming short of terrifying. The herd seemed a bit confused, but continued toward them. Turning back to Shida, she said desperately, "We've got to get our prey and us away from here, or come back for it later!"

Shida smirked as the wildebeast fell heavily to the gound. Falling from his back, the watery lioness landed on her feet and whirled to face the herd that was approaching.
Cursing their luck in her mind, the lioness tried to think of some way to back them off. As Kiho tried her best to scare them away, Shida came up with an idea. "Kiho, stay here and protect the kill. If they try to come closer, slash out. They should back off." Without further instructions, Shida dashed forward, growling menacingly. She stayed close to the ground as she ran towards the herd, making them scatter in fear. She circled, pushing them out and away from Kiho and the kill.

Kione Kiho stared at Shida wordlessly, cocking her head slightly as she spoke. It seemed that her mentor had come up with an idea, one that Kiho had no doubt would work, but she was still frightened. As Shida leaped forward toward the oncoming herd, Kione Kiho whirled around to follow her with her gaze, gasping a quick, "B-But..!" It was no use though, as the azure lioness was already too far away to hear her and too far into her plan to stop.
She backed up near their kill until the feathers on her tail tip brushed against the yound beast's skin. She swallowed back her fear; this was no time to be scared! Not when Shida needed her to do her part! Kiho lowered her head below her shoulders, arched and ready to defend what was rightfully theirs for the taking.
Spotting a few of the herd stray distressfully around and nearing Kione Kiho and the kill, she found herself jump forward, baring her fangs and hissing at the adult wildebeasts while she swung a clawed paw their direction. Though they were still a ways off from her, being in the amount of fright they were from Shida's attack only grew when they saw the young cub coming for them and they turned to bolt in the opposite direction.
Surprised that it had worked but not letting it break through her concentration, she watched them until they were a safe enough distance away before turning tail back to the body of the adolescent wildebeast, tail twitching violently as she guarded their meal with wary eyes.
As she stood her ground, she marveled at the grace she was once again able to witness from her master as she drove the herd off single-handedly. She was fierce and menacing, enough power and attitude to drive them off without the aid of any other pride members on hand. It was amazing, and Kione Kiho hoped to one day be as good as her.

The blue lioness successfully drove off the rest of the herd. They finally turned tail after they figured out that Shida wasn't going to back down. Once they were running off, Shida panted. It was hard work, doing a job that was usually done with at least three to four others!
But she was used to it. It was getting easier, especially when Kiho was there to help. Without her, Shida would have lost the kill. Probably to some stinking hyenas.
Dragging herself back to the cub and the dead wildebeast, Shida plopped herself down. Thankfully, she hadn't suffered any injuries. And by looking at Kiho, there weren't any obvious signs of being hurt. "You did good, cub." the watery lioness grinned. "So well, that I think you should get first pick."

As Shida returned, the rest of the herd fleeing from view without a second glance back, Kione Kiho was finally able to loosen her muscles. The tension that had been tightening them up had their hold on her throughout the entire hunt, and now that she relaxed she realized how sore she really was. She nearly collapsed to the floor with a relieved sigh, glad it was over. "I had no idea it would be so hard!" she exclaimed before rising onto her haunches. No time for true relaxation yet, they still had food to eat!
As Shida decided that Kiho would get first pick, the cub's pale eyes widened in surprise and she squeaked, "R-Really!?" They had usually eaten together, Shida picking out the pieces for her that would be easiest for her to handle, but this was an unexpected change of pace. It was a great honor for her to have first pick, but she didn't want it to go to her head. "Thank you..." she nearly whispered her appreciation, a wide grin spreading across her otherwise exhausted features.
Scanning the young herd-animal's body to pick out an area that would be fleshy yet not gorgingly so. Choosing the closest back thigh, she bit down onto a thick muscle and began her tug-of-war ripping of the flesh. With her as fatigued as she was it was difficult, but without the struggling coming from the beast itself it was much easier than before. "Dig in," she said from a mouthful of bloody meat as she tore at it, maw covered in crimson.

The watery lioness smirked at Kiho's widening eyes. "Of course! You deserved it." Shida chuckled, lying down as the cub chose a spot.
Stretching, Shida wondered where they would spend the rest of their day. And if they were going to take the carcass with them. It would be such a shame to just let it lie out in the sun, waiting for hyenas and other scavengers to pick at it.
But her thoughts were interrupted when Kiho told her to eat. Smiling as she saw the cub's mouth all dirtied with blood. "Thanks..." Shida murmured, moving around to their kill's stomach, digging right on in. It wasn't long before her maw and paws were covered in the crimson, life-giving liquid.

Kione Kiho was both exhausted and starving after such an ordeal the two of them had to go through, almost enough to make her not have enough energy to eat. She knew, however, that this kind of feeling was good; her first accomplished hunt, and such a well-earned prize! This feeling would only help her grow, become a stronger and more intelligent in the hunts that lay ahead.
In her thoughts she didn't think to watch out where she was biting and she soon found herself biting onto the beast's leg bone. Resituating her head to attack more of the meat, she looked to Shida. I wonder what Shi's thinking of... she thought, turning back to the meat.
It didn't take much longer before Kiho was so tuckered out she couldn't handle anymore of the tearing. It was all in good time though, as she was filled well with the meat and probably couldn't keep going even if she wasn't tired. She flopped herself over an unbitten area of the beast and let out a relaxed sigh. "This thing is so big! What are we going to do with it? We can't possibly eat it all today!" she exclaimed, lifting her head.

Shida sighed happily as she tore at the carcass. It was sooo good to eat a decent meal! She was tired of living off of small kills that only filled them for part of the day. But the wildebeast would certainly last them a long time.
As she chowed down on the still, warm flesh, she was wondering what they were going to do with the kill. They certainly weren't going to finish it all at once. And if they left it, scavengers would be all over it in a minute.
Mulling different options in her head, Shida ate as much as she could possibly handle before quitting. She didn't want to eat so much that she couldn't move. Surveying the landscape, she looked at Kiho who was lying on top of the wildebeast. "That's what I'm trying to figure out. Do you have any ideas?" Shida asked. Maybe the cub would have an idea.
