Ooh, I had trouble with the spicatto at first, but after a lot of practice, it'll seem to get easier, don't worry about it. But I dunno, I've never really had trouble with it ...

spicatto is so hard for me too...maybe because my pinky doen't want to curve. But I'm still practicing it. I kind of messed up my orchestra because I didn't do the spicatto right and so our points were deducted, so we got 2nd place in a competition called "Music in the Parks."

Don't worry, your not alone. ^^ I suggest you go to TheCornerOfTheRoundRoom2's profile and watch the video. I believe that will answer your question. xD

Don't think of spiccato as making the notes shorter, spiccato simply puts space inbetween the notes. If that helps. Also, relax both your left and right wrists when you play so that your wrist is like elastic.

ah, i have just mastered ricochet. As said before, spiccato is dpeendent on what type of bow you have. I would really recommend a coda bow classic. It is by far my favorite type of bow, and by far the bounciest thing i have ever played with, (thus making it my favorite). Find the place in your bow where it bounces the most, and go from there

Surprinsingly enough, I tried spiccato without any kind of advice from my teacher and I pretty much mastered it after a week's practice on my own. It's surprinsing because I'm not exactly a good player : I totally suck at vibrato and I'm not even capable of doing a tremolo correctly and fast enough.

It's easy once you get the hang of it. Just find the spot on your bow where you have the best control.
