Snack break...

I ran into Naruto again today, he had with him some cookies Miranda had made earlier and offered me one. Then he proceeded to tell me how Miranda really liked me, and I was really surprised. I accidentally choked on my cookie, and he nearly took it the wrong way and thought I didn't like it.

Although I admire his honesty, it's a little startling when you aren't expecting it.

A most unpleasant situation...

Today started out well enough, Miranda and I met a talking cat-creature named Val in the kitchen today. He was friendly and very cat-like, I was glad later that he let me pet his head a bit.

But anyway, Morganna had hurt her ankle, and I told Miranda I could heal it, but when I went to the livingroom to meet them, the first thing I noticed was all the blood, and I fainted. I feel awful, knowing that's what she had been talking about earlier. I don't think it's frightening, or gross, I just get dizzy when I see the blood, and now I'm too afraid it will happen again to find her and appologise.

Miranda said she would talk to Morganna about it, so I'm really thankful for that. And she kissed me. Twice! I think my brain would have completely broken if Val hadn't been so nice and let me pet him for awhile.

Still, I'm really afraid I've messed things up in a big way. I'm afraid of offending Morganna even more, it won't turn out well if I try to appologise and faint again, or if I don't approach her and she interprets that as loathing or something. I haven't felt this ashamed and helpless in a long time, I just hope I can get things worked out.

Away from the others for the moment, the skitterish blonde known as Demyx peeked around the place Kaleb called his own. It was nice, really, and as much as he wanted to hang around and talk with the other, Demyx had things to do. So, quickly, he went to the notebooks that kept Kaleb's notes, and slipped in a drawing for him to find later.

Delivery finished, Demyx set a single cookie on top of the notebook and skittered back out.

A cookie...

When I got back to my books today, I found a cookie sitting on top of my notebook. It was a little confusing, as I haven't so much as seen a cookie since Naruto shared the ones Miranda made. It looked like a fudge dipped oreo cookie.

I noticed something tucked into the pages of my notebook, so I flipped through them to see a little crayon doodle sitting between my notes on advanced transmutation and last week's grocery list. It looks like Demyx found my books and stopped by to leave the doodle and the cookie.

The cookie was delicious, and I'll have to remember to say thank you for the picture next time I see him.

What on earth...

Val came and visited me while I was studying today, which was surprising since I had tried to find a spot where I would be left to myself. I think he had been looking for me since he came with an unusually... twitching basket and said it was a present. I hate to admit I was rather afraid to open it.

When I saw the creature inside, I was still a little afraid, but then it squeaked at me. It hopped right into my hand, and let me pet it. Val said it's name was Lin. When I took the creature back to my apartment, I was glad to see it settle in fine. It was rather nice to have some company while I studied.

An Evening Invitation...

Last night Naruto found me and invited me out with him, Miranda, Rikku, Relm and Keme. I was surprised, a quiet person like me doesn't get such invitations often. It was nice, even though there were a couple times I had gotten myself all nervous over nothing. I know I had nothing to be nervous about, most of the time, but when Miranda would hold my hand or compliment me, I just felt...

Anyway. We walked over to a bookstore and I helped Miranda find a cookbook, she mentioned she was interested in learning to prepare foods from different cultures. There was an incident before she purchased the book, but Keme stepped in and handled it while I took Miranda to find Naruto so she could buy the book. She ended up taking me to look at fiction novels, even though I wasn't entirely sure what the point of reading fiction would be.

I was still nervous about the earlier incident, but Miranda said she didn't care that I'm not brave. I know I should be relieved, but just for once I would like to feel brave. Well, we met up with Keme and Relm and went to meet Naruto and Rikku at the icecream place.

I still feel shocked when I think about what happened next, Keme was lagging a bit behind as we crossed the road, just when a car lost control of their brakes. Relm was able to create a wall to protect Keme, and I threw up a quick shield on him and the car's occupants. I was relieved that no one was hurt, and the driver believed his insurance would handle the damages because of the brake problems.

I was afraid I would never stop shaking, especially after Miranda hugged me. It was... awkward. I was glad she was there, it was reassuring, and I think that helped me get over the shock more than the chocolate ice cream. Rikku managed to find a flavour called 'Death by Chocolate' and it certainly was delicious. I had a chance to test a new type of spell, a self-maintaining shield that prevents modification of temperature gradients within it's barrier by using the heat energy that would be transferred across it. Definitely a success, and very easy to cast.

But I think I'm getting distracted. I'm not sure how the rest of them managed to finish off their cones so fast, but we set off again once they were done. Keme wasn't feeling so good, and nothing Relm did seemed to pull him out of it. I was very worried about him, and I hope Relm was able to say something to put his mind at ease after we separated for the night.

Today's Detour...

I missed the bus again today after work, so I decided to take a different route home. I had hoped the sidestreets would be faster than the main road, but I didn't expect to run into Demyx on my way through.

When I caught sight of him, he was examining a shiny car that was being watched by a rather frightening audio with red hair. Demyx didn't seem to concerned though, not even when another tough looking Audio appeared, followed by another pair. I don't remember the events so clearly, but Demyx poked the Audio in the white suit, and then Audio with the dark hair grabbed his wrist in a threatening gesture.

Luckily the Audio released Demyx's wrist, and the one in the white suit seemed rather polite after that. It seemed like things were going okay, except the one with the red hair decided I was trying to escape and snuck up to lean on me. I was pretty frightened, but I think Demyx noticed and distracted him so I could put some distance between myself and the redhead.

I was relieved when they left shortly afterwards, but I don't think I'll take that shortcut home again.

A very large adventure...

I had quite an adventure today. My original goal was to make a quick trip to the mall, the one I hadn't had a chance to visit yet, since I heard about a bookstore that actually sold magical textbooks. I figured it was worth visiting, since it was faster than ordering them through the Institute and it probably had a better selection than the small bookstore near the park.

It turns out it did, but I'll probably discuss that in more detail later. I was almost at the mall when I was ambushed by an enthusiastic Demyx. He quickly introduced me to a number of other audios, but I think I was too startled and nervous to remember the names. I did remember Luxord's name, mainly because he accompanied us to the mall later.

After having Demyx nearly panic because he thought I would have a heart attack, I think I'll have to learn to act less nervous. He got over it quickly though, and I got a chance to see some amazing magic. I still can't believe how easily he created that bubble of water and it just... sat there, defying gravity, changing shape as he willed it, and he even let me poke it, and it was just like normal water! Except... floating!

I think I would have liked to poke it again, but another audio came over and introduced herself as Felicia. I really need to learn to be less jumpy, it was very awkward and I would hate to repeat that kind of introduction. In the end she left, and the three of us continued on to the mall where I could find the bookstore. Demyx was particularily excited at the idea of going shopping, but then again, he seems pretty excited about anything, really.

We encountered Felicia again at the mall when she fell off a table in the food court and sprained her ankle. After an awkward moment healing her, things got a little tense between her and Luxord, and I got pretty anxious. I probably should have handled things better, but the only thing I could think of was to get out of it, so I excused myself and headed towards the bookstore.

Felicia found me at the bookstore, and somehow dragged me into playing a game with her. And then things got a little uncomfortable, I think it would be best not to go into the details. Needless to say I was thoroughy embarassed there for a minute.

We went to the pet store after that, and even at the end of this adventure I don't think I'm used to being dragged around by one hand, and the contact still makes me a little nervous. Anyway, at the pet store she picked out a pet and somehow convinced me to take her to my apartment (which was still a mess since I keep putting off looking for a larger bookshelf) so I could teach her some magic.

It was a relatively quick walk back, and she seemed to enjoy herself once we got there. I was once told that messes look worse when you've got company, and it's true. I really need to find a good bookshelf, because the stacks and notes were just everywhere. I would have been so embarassed if she had managed to read any of those old notes, or most of my sticky notes on the bathroom mirror, they were just jot notes or rough spell outlines, and I would be so nervous if I knew she had read them.

I tried to show her the easiest exercises for learning magic, but we had a couple... distractions. I can't remember the details, but I know her behaviour made me rather nervous until I realized she was... interested in me. I think perhaps nervous was an understatement, at one point I was so frightened and confused that I just froze up. I had no idea why she seemed to alternate between acting in ways that would make me more nervous, and being very calm, understanding, and almost protective, but after she flat out asked me about my virginity, surprisingly, I felt much better. I've never liked social uncertainty, so that cleared up quite a bit of my anxiety over the situtaion.

Anyway, she poked a bit deeper, while tickling me, and I admitted to that one kiss, that one back at the academy that had me messed up for a week. And then she kissed me. It wasn't at all like Miranda's kiss, it was like... yeah. I felt a little bad for my reply when she asked if I prefered her kiss or my first, but I don't want that memory changed by comparisons.

We went back to the mall after that, and Felicia seemed rather concerned about meeting up with Luxord in particular. She had some ideas about him involving, well, things, but I don't know if I would feel comfortable writing them here. After all, if Demyx found my journal and was able to tuck a note in, it would be just as easy to read it. And I'm certainly not one of those paranoid old wizards who wards every scrap of paper they write on. Back on topic, it is probably best to just say she was concerned, with matters that make me blush just thinking about it.

After picking up her pet, we went to the food court to get something to eat, and ran into Demyx and Luxord again. Felicia was acting a little odd before we found them, but after that she actually suggested that we do 'something fun' once we were done eating. I was surprised, I thought she really didn't like Luxord. The two of them decided on a club since Demyx and I really didn't have any preference, although there were a lot of unusual comments and looks going around. I'm afraid I didn't understand a word of it, and I certainly have no idea why anyone at a club would want to touch me.

Anyway, Luxord gave us the address, so Felicia and I could meet them at the club after picking up a couple things. I've never been to a club, so I'm a little nervous, but I feel better knowing I'm going with friends.

Some new faces...

I wouldn't have guessed that the quiet little room outside the kitchen would have been so busy today. On my way through to get a glass of water, I was ambushed by a bright, talkative Audio named Yahto. It sounded like he had heard about me from Relm and Rikku, and he asked me to come meet the rest of the group there. I was kind of nervous, there were so many Audio I didn't know. Lainey introduced herself and Chii first, and then Aiden, who was Relm and Rikku's brother.

Yahto and Chii started playing a game with each other, and I think I was a little relieved since it made the group feel smaller. Aiden and Lainey seemed interested in my magic, and asked that I show some, so I demonstrated a simple float spell for them.

Lainey was certainly impressed, but not for the first time during that conversation. Before Yahto started playing games with Chii all she ever said was her name, but while she was playing she was mimicking Yahto's actions, and speech.

Afterwards the conversation turned back to magic, as Yahto and Chii continued their games. Lainey seemed particularily interested in learning magic, and she asked if I had ever taught anyone before. Of course, I could feel myself blushing as I remembered the day I tried to teach Felicia.

Lainey seemed pretty sure she wasn't going to be able to learn any magic herself, but I suggested going to a quiet spot and working on some exercises. I even suggested Aiden could take her to the clearing I usually use for practice, and they seemed to like the idea. Except, I think I must have missed something, and I got a little confused before we went back to the topic of magic, and I explained one of the easier exercises before Lainey had to leave.

I had no idea when Morganna had entered the room, but I don't think she noticed me, and I certainly didn't notice her until I started wondering what Aiden and Lainey had been looking at. I felt a little dizzy, and then I didn't remember anything until I felt my nose burning. It hurt, and my nose started running and my eyes started watering, and I honestly thought I was about to die or something.

I don't know what they used to bring me out of my faint, but at least they hadn't used the dried jalapenos. Luckily the burning went away rather quickly, and I realized I was sitting on the couch, instead of the chair where I could last recall. I was embarassed that he had to worry himself making sure I was okay, I hate to be a bother. Anyway, he had to leave soon afterwards with Yahto, but I thanked him for the conversation. I really did enjoy it.

A minor accident...

I was startled out of my studying today when Keme approached me carrying Charlamagne, who I had met before. He said she had fallen out of a tree and hurt her back, and his hands were pretty scraped up. Luckily Charlamagne wasn't hurt beyond my skills to heal, I think Keme would have been terrified if I hadn't been able to help.

Charlamagne seemed pretty worried about a harp that she had dropped when she fell, I think she mentioned Charlie had lent it to her. I didn't like seeing her so distraught, so I went out to help them look for it when Keme asked.

An afternoon at the park...

I think I got the shock of my life today when I met Demyx and Luxord's daughter at the park today. I mean, I didn't even know they had children, Demyx certainly had never mentioned it. Although from what I heard, it didn't seem like my friend quite understood it enough to tell me anyway.

I found her to be very easy to talk to, but perhaps I could attribute that to the familiarity of the coat, and knowing Demyx pretty well. She seemed interested in what I was reading, so we walked over to the small shop I like so she could see what was available.

She found a couple books that interested her, and we went back to the park to read for a bit. Except, we never really got around to much reading. It was really nice to talk to someone who was as interested about magic, and who was willing to discuss ideas about different spells. I had really missed that.

In a way her magic seems very different from mine, she was able to conjure a small cloud of fog without planning out the spell and effects ahead of time. I know at this point I have more magical experience, but if her magic is innate, I'm pretty sure it will get to a point where I won't be able to offer help in any relevant manner.

Anyway, I have a couple concepts I need to test out. They might take awhile, so it's best to get started while I still have enough motivation.

Baking with a friend...

I ran into Demyx at the grocery store today. I've known since I met him that he really liked cookies, but while I was looking for chocolate chips he admitted that he hadn't ever baked cookies before. I invited him to come and bake those really good peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies, and he seemed really enthusiastic about it.

We walked back to my apartment. I had been trying to keep things tidy since the last time someone visited, but somehow it got messy again. I felt less self-consious since it was Demyx, he seemed to like it despite the clutter.

We started mixing the cookies, and Demyx seemed to be enjoying himself. It was much more fun baking with him than on my own. Except, he accidentally sneezed while adding the flour. I had my back turned at the time, but it felt like it was completely covered. I turned around, and Demyx was certainly covered in flour. It was the most amusing thing I had seen in awhile, and I couldn't help but laugh. Of course, with all the flour floating in the air that certainly didn't help the situation, and both of us stood there sneezing for a bit.

I felt kind of bad, I was stuck giggling while Demyx worried about having made such a mess of my kitchen, but in all honesty, I thought the mess was well worth the laugh. We were able to get the cookies done and into the oven without any further mishaps, and while we waited for them to bake I got the flour off the kitchen surfaces.

Once the cookies were done we went out side, and Demyx used his magic to get the flour off us. It was fascinating, he simply dropped enough water to soak us both, and then he just pulled it all off and made it vanish! It was absolutely fascinating.

After we were all cleaned up we sat for a bit and ate cookies with chocolate milk, and talked about all sorts of things. Some of it was pretty serious, which I hadn't expected from Demyx, but he also talked a lot about the castle he lives in, and the others he lives with.

I was pretty startled when Luxord appeared in the kitchen, and more than a little nervous when I remembered everything Demyx said about their castle. It was the first time I remember my apartment feeling quite that small...

Anyway, somehow the two of them convinced me it would be a good idea to get out more often, and go on adventures or something. So, tomorrow we're going to the beach. I'm a little nervous, but hopefully we'll have some fun.

Events at the beach...

I really shouldn't have spent so much time dallying lately, today was reminder enough that my current skills are inadequate. If he doesn't make it, I'll never be able to forgive myself. If he comes out of this okay, I promise I will get stronger. I'll do whatever it takes so I'll never ever have to leave a friend hurt, just please let him be okay...

An encounter at the library...

I know I haven't written anything for awhile, not since that day at the beach. It's been hard since then, but I feel a little better this morning.

Yesterday I almost literally ran into Luxord at the library. I was so relieved when he told me Demyx was okay, and I apologised for not stopping him from leaving on his own, and for not being able to help. Luxord said he didn't blame me at all for the incident.

I was pretty distressed, but I was near exhaustion at the time and I know being tired makes me emotional. I hadn't been able to sleep much before yesterday, every time I closed my eyes, all I saw was Demyx lying there, and the blood, and I think I gave up trying after a bit. I hadn't eaten much either, the thought hardly occured to me.

Anyway, I'm embarassed to say I broke down a bit and hugged him, but he didn't seem to mind. He was really comforting, and let me hold onto him until I felt better. I'm grateful he was so nice to me, I don't think I would have been able to write this morning if I hadn't met him.

After I got my emotional state back under control, he invited me out to lunch. We went to that small place near the library, and he treated me to soup and cookies. I still have one cookie left, but I was going to save that for after lunch.

Before we left I almost broke down again, and Luxord offered to walk with me back to my apartment. I was still pretty fragile at that point, so I'm glad he was there with me. I don't recall much after getting inside and sitting down for a bit, but I must have fallen asleep on the couch since that's where I woke this morning with an awfully sore neck.

One good thing about being a healer is that I'll never need to wait for painkillers to take effect. Anyway, I really should get back to my studies. I made a promise that I can't afford to take lightly.
