"given the fact that being human is a liability is the world of GITS, being straight or bi doesn't msatter. with prosthetic bodies, andbody can swap bodies with a fake or someone else, in turn becoming a different gender among other things... given that fact, sexuality is basically irrelevant. but still, we all know thast motoko's a chick. personally, i figured that out from the flashback from the individual 11 guy, when he got into an accident, and all of him was parallyzed except fo his left arm. the other girl in the accident we eventually figured out was infact motoko... the purple hair gave it away.... did i mention i love the philosophy and political contraversy behind shirow masamune's mind?" whee

Sex is just a sensation to her, would be my guess. Her ultimate goal is to find the truth. The truth about herself. Sex doesn't factor in to that. I'm thinking that it's just something to do. You do have to remember that SAC and the manga are separate worlds as well. SAC is only based on the manga and not following it. She was almost a different character in the manga compared to the series. Plus if it was something that was important to her character it would have been a bigger part of the story and not just 2-3 pages in the manga and a few seconds of video in the series.

What about the Blond female friend of the Major's from the TV Series? (I haven't read the manga yet. redface ) Their relationship seemed kinda ambiguous.

The impression that I get is that gender does not matter, especally in a world where an exterior of a person is disposable or changeable. I beleve that it is all one's mind to motoko.

Yeah I agree that Motoko Kusanagi is bisexual in both the manga and the anime series. Although in the movies she is strangely asexual...well, I guess once you merge with an advanced AI & become more than human, sex doesn't really matter all that much, does it?
I just have to make this joke: The Major gives a whole new meaning to the phrase, "Hey, let's cyber!"

I have an every-growing theory that Motoko is bisexual. Any read between the lines fan can tell she's not straight as an arrow, but not a full blown lesbian either.
1) She is VERY secure is her sexuality. So even though we have no clue of what Motoko's orientation is she for sure knows because she's not above useing it to gain people's trust and/or getting things done as proven in Angles' Share, Red Data, as well as Cash Eye.
2) Her interactions with Kurutan, and Batou are ALWAYS so ambiguous. She can be be very flirtatious/suggestive with Batou as seen in Missing Hearts & Barrage.
In Decoy, Kurutan is without a doubt on her flirtatious side, yet Motoko is totally calm, almost expecting it when Kurutan expresses her disappointment. Not to mention the nostalgic look on her face when she sees the two alseep. Once again with the ambiguity.

Then again this theory is just for the anime. In the manga it is practically a given she's bisexual.

...FIrst of all i'de like to say...WTF!Were those scans realy from the manga?I thoug it was some perv making fan art...
And as for her sexuality, i couldnt get all the anime quite yet but i've watched enough...It's all just a feeling.Cyborgs are not real humans.Therefore arent real male or female.The reason why many actual humans are gay or bi is more the fact they liek the person, rather than the body.The body ends up as a complementary prize for some.So try to se eit like that.As Cyborgs all they have is their minds...so they tend to see the so called 'soul' or another.

everyone has made good points she is bi i am very sure she is anime and manga show great proof she is at least a lesbian. oh and is just me or does everyone think major looks really hot in a dress?

Yes thoes scans are from the manga, i Own the American version and its totaly not in there sad I think shes Bi at the least. Batou definitally has it for her and she knows it but doesnt seem to give him the time of day. She has more a "big bro" attitude twards him thats for sure. But if i was in her shoes id be bi for sure. Why limit yourself.

man, havnt been in the GITS guild in a while, thought it died, GLAD IT DIDNT XD. actually its interesting to read the mangas and others done by shirow.
My opnion that she is BI, and not one way or the other.
oh and as for her in a dress, dude, shes hot not matter what she wears, or doesnt mrgreen
thats what i want, chick who looks great in jeans AND a dress.
and Selenaz, there are actually 2 versions of the 1st vol in America, yeah i sucks i know but i was able to order the one where she is def with 2 chicks, AND uncensored, well excpet for the -coughs- lower region.
sucks the Shirow does that, not sure if thats cause of the american version or if ALL his stuff is. i have a few of the INTRON DEPOT books, and wow, hot pics for them all.

We've got to remember that the anime series, the mangas, and the movies are not connected in any way shape or form. With that said, despite the fact that Hideo Kuze was her first love, we can't use it to contrast her sexuality in the manga. However, I'm pretty sure she, as a character, is bisexual.
