uh.. mine's a bit big.. but i think it is considered a short story..

Imaginary

Yet another long, sleepless night, sitting alone in the darkness, I glance to the clock that sit beside my computer as it struck the midnight hour. Before me is the soft glow of the monitor, adding to the warm, golden glow of the lamp beside me; the only source of light to banish the darkness and shadows that filled the room. The total silence of my darkened home broken only by the soft purr of the computer as it work to carry out the tasks I request of them; and the constant, vigilant pounding as my fingers hit the keys as I work on, and the soft ticking of my clock.

For hours I have toiled, my eyes burning and my body aching as it longed for sleep. Completely focused on my work at the most, but the occasional noise, the scurrying of a rodent, the chirping of a late night bird, the soft mewing of my cats, breaking my concentration. I try not to think anything of it; the days of my past, the horrors of my own imagination, were gone.

For a while, nothing happens, and I am left at peace to continue my work. The clock strikes the half-hour mark, and I pause only to stretch, rubbing my cramped fingers for a moment as I glance over what I had just finished. Glancing up from my work, I notice a soft sound; an almost purr. Long and drawn out, breaking occasionally, then coming back stronger then before. The hairs on the back of my neck stand on end, and I try to shake off the growing feeling of dread and fear. Its nothing, I tell myself. Absolutely nothing? probably just something my cat caught, or a movie my parents had left on in the den, just across the hallway from me. Or maybe I am just overworking the computer??

Whispering beneath my breath, I give myself a verbal reprimand, forcing myself to continue on with my work. I wanted to have this finished before I went to bed. Still the moaning continued, and soon it was beyond ignoring. An almost deafening roar filling my senses, I tried to shield my ears from the noise, but louder still it grew. Gritting my teeth, I tried to remain calm, telling myself it was only my imagination; it was all in my head, as the doctor had told me. I would fade, and I would be just fine. For how long I was like this, I don't know, my body beginning to tense, and cold sweat forming on my back and shoulders, causing a shiver to run up my spine.

I could hear, even though I wished not to, every voice clear and distinct. I could hear those of women, men, and children; begging and pleading for their lives and the lives of others, screaming in terror and pain, hearing them call the names of the lost as they are ripped from each others arms. Before my eyes I could see the instances happening, with the clarity, and the total horror, as though I were there, the pain of their losses and torture I could feel on my body.

Inside my head I could hear myself screaming, but from my mouth came no words, no sound. My breath began to run short, as with each new vision it became more horrific; more sickening. My heart raced in my chest, and I struggled to breathe. I could see them; the bodies, the people who, just moments before, now lay dead at my feet, their throats cut or their chests pierced through by blade or bullet. I thought I would go mad as the screams and voices continued to grow in force and volume. No more, I continued to beg myself, or whatever b*****d force created this hellish nightmare for me. Please, no more.

With each minute that passed, this nightmare became more and more real. I could feel the heat from the fires that burned the houses down; I could smell the stench of rotting flesh, burning in the cinders of the houses as they fell around me, mixed with the acidic, copper-tinged wreak of blood and urine. Kneeling down, I searched for signs of life from the woman that lay before me, in her arms was the still form of her young child, their bodies prone and becoming cold and stiff as death settled in.

This couldn't be happening! This woman wasn't dead! I wasn't in a burning building! I had to get away from here. Backing hurriedly away from the woman and child, I searched desperately for a way to free myself from this place. Where I was, who I was, I couldn't remember. It didn?t matter right now; the only thing that mattered was my survival.

Glancing about, I saw that the only exit that remains unblocked by flame or the collapsing building was the window. Bracing myself, I shielded my head with my arms and threw myself, as hard as I could, through the glass, gasping in pain as I landed, kneeling, on the grass outside, a shower of broken glass cutting at my flesh and piercing deep. Swaying slightly as I stood, coughing and gasping for air as the flames burned at my flesh, eyes, and lungs, I searching for the best way to go. To my horror, every way I turned there was more carnage. I realized I was in a small village that was being burnt to the ground.

Slowly and painfully standing, I felt my own blood pour from the wounds that covered my arms and shoulders, breathing heavily as the sharp pain throbbed continuously. Who could have done this? What kind of person would destroy an innocent village, men, women, and children all? What could this have possibly given them in reward? I struggled hard against the nausea, breathing hard and gritting my teeth, stumbling through the burning village, until, to my horror, I found the center.

Before my eyes were these barbaric creatures; not worthy to be called men. Adorned with the bones and flesh of those who had fallen to them, they were burning the countless bodies of the villagers in one massive, roaring mound of burning carcass. Falling then to my knees, I could only watch as those who, still barely alive, were being burn to death, their screams of agony and pain filling the air. Sweat began to break out all over my body and I began to shudder and spasm, struggling to remain in control of myself. My breath ran short, and I struggled to keep the world in focus, digging my nails deep into the hard ground beneath me. This cant be real. It all was some hellish nightmare... I will wake up any moment, and things will be as they were...

Without my notice, I had been found, and in my daze I began to realize that these men had begun to gather around me. It was then I forced myself to my senses and stumbled to my feet, dashing through the burning village, as fast as my legs could carry me, fear coursing like ice through my veins, the pain from the broken glass with the burning of the smoke and flame almost unbearable.

At the edge of the village was a dense forest, and without thinking I plunged head long into it. Forcing aside branches and bush, thorns tearing more at my flesh, I knew I left an easy trail for them to follow, but I didn't care. I had to get away from this hell. How long I ran, I do not know. For hours, it seemed, I stumbled lost through the woods, before finally crashing to a halt in a small clearing. Weakly I tried to stop the thousands of bugs that sworded around my open wounds. I struggled to breathe, fever now burning at my cheeks. Dried blood, mud, and grime clung to my battered and worn body, and I was exhausted from the struggle of fighting to get away from the creatures that had sacrificed an entire village.

Before my eyes my world began to blur, shifting in and out of focus. From the shadows and foliage I watched as these creatures, who I had struggled so hard to excape from, began to approach me. It was then, shivering in the icy air of the cold, winter night, my body numb with pain, blood still pouring from the wounds that were now infected and nasty, glass still within them, that I realized I would die. These men were out for my life, and I could do no more to fight them. The seconds passed in their own tiny eternity, as I watched them draw nearer, the total, complete fear, beyond anything from a story, ride, or game could ever be expressed. Without doubt, your every cell in your body knew this was the end. No more did I think it to be my imagination. This was real. The death of those people were real. And these men, only a few yards away from me, were real.

I closed my eyes then, for a moment, bracing myself, taking one long, staggering breath. Opening my eyes, I realized I looked into the glazed, cold, sightless eyes misted in death, his flesh rotting away as he drew his blade forth. I watched as the ruined remains of his body disintegrated still as he prepared for the final thrust that would end my life, as the cruel hand of fate had his so long ago.

I could only stare up at him and wait, watching the blade was aimed for my heart, and time seemed to slow. I could not move, nor breathe, but only watch. Suddenly, the creatures, the forest, everything vanished, replaced then by the bright headlights of an oncoming vehicle, and the blaring of the horn as the wheels screeched on the smooth surface of the highway.

As I lay there, I stared into the heavens far above, thunder roaring in the background and lightning flashing. I watched as the first few drops of rain began to fall, before an icy downpour was unleashed. I could not move, nor could I feel the pain that had wracked my body just moments before. I knew that I was crying, the tears mixing with the icy rain on my pale, fevered cheeks as my world began to dim.

I softly laughed, blood forming on my lips. Smiling gently, I heard distantly the frantic screams of the passengers of the bus. Whispering softly to the rain as my heart began to slow and my breath began to become labored, "It was only my imagination..."

WONDERFUL! *applauds* This is the sort of thing that I love to read. Did it have a deeper meaning, or is it just a story. The ending was a little cliched(sp?) but I loved the way you described things. Very different. I reckon you should have it as part of a different story, and that be the prolouge. Keep up the excellent work ^^

Cael Finn
Eh, it has to do with something that happened in my life so if you don't understand some of it and would like to, you can pm I guess

White Prison

Crystal flakes of intricate beauty
Fall silently.
Pushed and pulled by the wind,
They are thrown into an icy dance
before they fall and
Upon the ground they rest.

The Flakes continue to fall
And fall and fall.
They coat the forest like
A blanket that provides no warmth
The falling snow deafens any sounds
Muting the noises of scurries and shivers.

I trudge through the banks of snow
Alone.
My fingers hang at my sides,
Numb.
Much like my soul.
I stumble and pause,
The surrounding silence becoming so loud it hurts.
I throw my head back
My cheeks and my lips, nose, forehead
All receive the frigid flakes.

The whiteness swirls around me,
Blinding me,
Enclosing me in a white prison.
I scream and shriek
Yet no one hears me
They don't hear the pain in my voice
Nor see the anguish in my eyes.
Do they notice?
Do they care?

The snow mutes my cries
So I begin to run,
The snow seems to grow claws and
Grabs at my legs and feet,
Holding me back, stopping me,
Keeping me in a white prison

I go till I collapse.
I fall to my knees
With no energy to get back up,
hands landing hard on the ground beneath me.
Yet there is no snow under my fingers
Only hot asphalt.
It scorches and burns,
Blistering my hands.

The road beneath me melts,
Turns into a sticky red liquid.
It begins to swallow me,
Pulling my down... down
Then, I am falling.

Falling so fast,
Falling past mirrors.
The images are blurred,
A distorted image of me
Who am I?
Does anyone care?

The landing does not hurt
Yet is bitter cold
And I realize that I am back in
A place where the snowflakes fall
Like graceful dancers,
Swirling delicately atop the wind.
A place where my soul's cries
Will never be heard.

I am back in my
White Prison

Is this supposed to signify something 0.o its very deep. I like it. Everyones styles are very different, but I like this kind best.
Does this apply to your life? Very similar to mine 0.o. Anyways I'll stop babbling and get on with reviewing:

The language you use is very effective, makes mme imagine it vividly. The ending is nice, wrapping it up without anything loose, but it leaves you something to ponder..... An excellent poem. Post more of your work ^^

Garden of Eden

I fly through the sky,
Realizing I had died,
I soared above it all
even my body at the mall,
I had jumped from the top
not caring about the drop
Landing on a car
I had fallen to far
to stay alive after that decension
too bad I started my acension.
Afterwards, I wanted to see
see what people would say about me
It didnt mater anymore,
I'm going somewhere I havn't gone before
I see the gates ahead.
They tell me I am dead.
I see the trees
the green leaves
I smile, but start to decend,
I dont think I was meant to end
up in eden, but father below.
All I see is a red glow,
all of my freinds wished me well
unknown to them,
I ended up in hell.

-me.

Did this forever and an age ago...

hehe.... funny. I know you tried to rhyme it but maybe it would have been better if you didn't confused But thats just my opinion.... you dont have to take any notice of lil' old me 4laugh . But anyways I thought it was good how you put the twist in there, it was really effective whee

well I have a couple of poems I want to share

exclaim illusions part 1 exclaim

I was alone
But now I have you
When I cry
You would wipe away my tears
Comfort me
When I was ecstatic
you would share
my happiness
with me
you were my only friend
in times of need
until our friendship began to grow
into love
until I realised
that you
were nothing more
than an illusion
cleverly created
by my mind
I do not want to be alone
once more
I would rather live
in an illusion
than live in a barren land
devoid of love
so I continue
to live
in a happy illusion
never leave me alone
my dark
I love you

exclaim illusions part 2 exclaim

you are the only person
who keeps me alive
for that I cannot
repay you
you came home, crying
what can I do but
wipe away
your tears?
and when
you come home
so happy
what can I do
But share it ?
you think that I
am nothing more than
an illusion
and still I lead you on
this deception
because I am afraid that
you will reject my love
and me
but one thing is certain
my precious light
I will never
leave you alone
and
I love you too

please tell me what you think

Youmaru
How the hell did it come to this?
Bubbles were escaping his almost shut mouth. His eyes moved lazily with the light that broke against the waters surface and went ricocheting through the cold dark.
Suddenly he caught a glimpse of her. She was swimming for him, closing in with each stroke.
How?
He knew she would not let it end here. She would do anything to keep him alive, to keep him close to her.
Why was he here anyway?
Suddenly he remembered. He put his hand were his stomach should be, and felt his hand push through a hole of rendered flesh.
Oh...
Then she touched him, pulled him close, putting her lips over his, blowing air and life into his lungs. He looked at her, her eyes closed. As if this was an act of love instead of desperation. He knew she was crying. She always did whenever they kissed, more so when they made love. It was the calm and gentle tears of happiness, shed when she was close to him. When they belonged only to each other.
He just wished he could see those tears. Instead they dispersed into the unforgiving and hungry water.
Now... Lay your hand on me. Just this once...
She opened her eyes, pulled back. Placing her slim hands upon his wound she gave a push, and his whole body filled with pain. A pain that shook him out of his dazed and dulled state of mind. He saw her accusational stare. Holy magic never caused pain. And why did the crusaders spear give him such a devastating wound?
Her eyes widened when it dawned on her, suddenly filled with fear.
She realized why he had never let her heal him, why he never met her at church, why he always seemed ill when they met during daylight.
She hit him, pushed away and swam desperately for the surface.
As she splashed through, armored fists grabbed her and pulled her up.
"You healed him?"
The rough voice made metallic by the helmet scared her just as much as the... thing in the water.
"I... I loved him..."
The commander nodded, to a soldier. The sound of metal being unsheathed, followed by a womans gasp.
"You are found guilty for treason against the Divine, and hereby executed."
They let her lifeless body fall into the water, her blood seeping into and blending with it.
Below his anger, and hunger, rose, as he drank the blood of the only one he ever loved.
I'll rip them apart...
He broke the surface in a leap, and landed amongst the crusaders. His eyes glowing red, and his fingers suddenly clawed.
They started shouting as he tore into them, one by one.

0.o This should have a backstory..... It's very good *wishes she could write like you* nothing to critisize.... POST MORE!!!

[Dragon's Eye]

An hour before dawn, in a clearing of Argali Forest, two figures can be seen from the air. A blonde haired youth was pacing to and fro. Brown freckles on his nose prominent, even in the dim light. He kept on looking up at the sky, his blue eyes searching anxiously for something. Sitting on the floor was a woman with dark skin, her legs crossed under her. Long callused fingers held her hair in sections, nimbly braiding it. She tied the end off with a leather thong and let her braid fall down her back. Looking up, she took a deep breath as she placed her hands on her knees, closing her eyes.

The youth's dark blue eyes were still looking up at the sky as the woman was meditating on what had happened the night before. She was surprised that both she and the boy were not hysterical. What had transpired that night should have put any sane person back on the quickest road home. Though that's not what they were, all of them were crazy to even consider going on this journey. At least her brother was for starting it. All she had to do was to bring him home. But her brother had to make everything difficult.

"Ryastra! How can you be falling asleep at this time!"

The woman opened her eyes slowly, giving an annoyed look at him. In truth he wasn?t really a boy, but at 15 years old to her 25 years of experience he was a boy. She closed her eyes again and clenched her teeth, asking for patience. She opened her eyes again and met with the youth's eyes. "It's called meditation? It helps you relax."

"Will it help Elias?" He retorted.

She looked silently at him; giving him the same glare he was giving her. It was a minute before he turned his head away to look again at the sky. Ryastra nodded, cleared her throat, and stood up grabbing a black scabbard from the ground. She turned her eyes to look up at the sky and then at the boy before bringing her fingers to her mouth and giving a loud whistle.

The youth cringed at the sharp sound, covering his ears as he watched the dark skinned woman hold out the black scabbard. In less than a minute a dot appeared out from the sky, diving down towards the ground. Ryastra gave him a triumphant look as a small hawk alighted on top of the scabbard. The boy looked at her through slitted eyes as he turned his back to her. "Any word of him?"

Ryastra brought the scabbard closer to her, and untied a small scroll from the bird's leg. She dropped the scabbard, and lifted it up, allowing the bird to take off again. She put the scabbard underneath her arm and unrolled the small parchment, reading the small encoded message. She bit her lower lip and watched the bird fly off to find a perch, "No sign... He hasn't made it to the rest stop."

The boy let his head drop, bringing his hand to his forehead, disappointment written on his face. "We have to find him."

Ryastra's eyes softened as she watched him. She sighed rubbing her neck, "I know that Caleb. But you know what he said."

"I know. If he isn't at the rest stop, keep on going..." He trailed off as he picked up a stick and balanced it in his hand.

Caleb looked up at the forest, and spoke quietly to himself, "But I can't...It just doesn't seem right?" He walked towards a tree, his eyes beginning to water, his grip tightening around the stick. It was his fault. This would have never happened if he and Elias never met. It was typical, whenever he started getting close to someone; they got hurt, or left. They always left. He gritted his teeth, glaring at the tree. They always leave. An unknown anger at himself and those he had known surged in him as he hit the tree with the stick. It broke on contact, without pausing he threw the tree stick down and started to hit the tree with his fists. Hot tears streaming down his face, his anger blinding him to pain as he hit the tree harder and harder.

Ryastra had only turned her back for a moment, getting ready to continue their journey. She had just thrown on over her head a black poncho, when she heard the stick snap. She looked up at Caleb, startled her eyes widened at seeing him beating up a tree. "Caleb! Caleb!" She ran towards him grabbing him around the waist and trying to pull him back. It was a challenge considering she was a few inches shorter than the 5'10 boy. He barely budged, still beating his fists against the tree. "Caleb! Stop it! This is not doing any good!"

Ryastra was straining, trying to pull him back with her legs, "Caleb! Elias is not dead! He hasn't left us!"

He hasn't left us.

Caleb stopped beating the tree, his face looking like he had awakened from a dream. He looked at the tree, the bark cracked, and broken. He could feel Ryastra's arms around him, pulling him back. He stepped back letting her drag him away from the tree. Ryastra released her hold on him and stood in front of him, "Caleb, are you okay?"

He blinked looking up at her, seeing her mouth move, but her words weren?t clear. He lifted up his hands slowly as he noticed a feeling of heat on his knuckles. There was blood there put he didn't feel any pain. He directed his eyes back to Ryastra, she was still speaking, her face getting blurry, and then everything started to fade to black.

"Caleb!" Ryastra grabbed the boy's arm before he fell backwards, pulling him towards her. She grunted as she beared Caleb's weight. Manuevering Caleb so that he was on the ground, she opened his eyes, seeing only white. Ryastra then looked at the blood on his hands. She took a deep breath as she went to grab a brown haversack bag that had been lying next to the tree.

---- ------ ---------- ------------ -------------- ---------------

Fire was surrounding them, enemies trying to break off their escape. Elias stopped, his gray eyes filled with fear. He pushed Ryastra forward, then Caleb, "Run."

Ryastra paused a moment hesitant to take action. She opened her eyes to object, but was distracted by a creature coming towards her. She swung her scabbard up, hitting the beast in the chin. Caleb stopped running, as he noticed Elias wasn't moving, "We can't leave you."

Ryastra retreated back to Caleb's side, as Elias pushed Caleb back again. "I said run! Move it." Elias looked back at the fires, their enemies sillouhettes visible in the smoke.

Caleb resisted, grabbing Elias's hand, "Buh..."

Elias growled, they were losing time. "I SAID GO!" He gave Caleb one final push, Ryastra grabbing the boy and pulling him along.

Elias turned his back to Caleb's pleading eyes, to face their adversaries. He grabbed his spear sticking the the point in the ground, his only thought of giving Ryastra and Caleb more time. He waited until he could smell the breath of one of the trackers. He slammed the spear into the ground, a light and a shockwave moving through the ground.

Elias's eyes shot open as he sat up quickly, his heart pounding in his chest. That action was a mistake, as he felt a pain sear through his ribs. He slowly layed back down on the cushions he had been laying on. His gray eyes looked around the unfamiliar surroundings. It seemed he was in a small cottage, that would have looked to belong to an old grandmother of some sort.

He stared up at the apex ceiling trying to figure out how he had gotten here. After what happened in the forest, he couldn't remember, he just saw a flash and then pain. Elias stiffened as he heard a person walk in. Their footsteps were loud upon the wooden floor. He closed his eyes as the figure brushed past him, dropping wood down next to the fireplace. He then heard the person walk over to a corner, a chair creaking as they lowered their weight to sit down. Then clicking of quilting needles started accompanying the sound of the crackling fire.

Elias opened his eyes and slowly sat up, looking toward his benefactor. It was a dragon. A dragon that was knitting...

The anthropomorphic lizard looked up at Elias. His reptilian eyes giving a wink at the human.

"Denny?" Elias's eyes seemed to jump out of their skull in recognition.

Denny brushed back a long spike away from his face, "Long time no see huh?"

Elias blinked He brought up his hand and started pointing behind him, and then pointing at the dragon. "Weren't you... I left you back... You said that uh. Huh?"

Denny's smile grew wider, showing his fangs, "Let's just say I missed you. Now where's the kid?"

Something I wrote... Tried to continue it couldn't... So I might just make it an rp start and see what we can do with it.

Predator HTH: Prologue

Prologue

The man breathed heavily, his lungs bringing in as much air as possible as he ran his fastest to escape the devil hunting him. The man's normally well-kept hair was out of its tight ponytail and flying everywhere as his legs pumped like pistons, propelling him down the dark alley. His azure eyes darted left and right, looking for somewhere the devil wouldn't follow.

That place would never come.

The man slammed hard into a wall, the dead end of the alleyway. "Dead end..." He muttered to himself, as if he couldn't believe the reality of his situation. His hands felt thier way along the wet wall, still damp from the recent rains. The cold, unfeeling brick underneath his hands brought tears to his eyes. He did not want to die, not like this, not like prey to the devil hunting him. His wide eyes scanned the alleyway behind him, knowing well what would happen if he was caught. Maybe he should run back the other way?

Too late.

A thump was heard just down the alleyway. The prey's eyes scanned frantically, watching for the hunter and also looking for somewhere to go. There had to be somewhere! Somewhere away from here! Then he noticed a splash in a puddle about twenty feet from him, the water shooting up from the ground from some unseen force acted upon it. The water, however, caused a reaction on the force that moved it. A large being was walking towards the man, its stealth forgotten, and its prey only feet away. A low growl emitted from its throat, the hunter standing a good foot over its prey, its cold, uncaring eyes upon its mask glaring into the weeping mans soul.

"P-p-please... Don't kill ME!!" The man sobbed to his giant predator, as if trying to get some sort of sympathy from it.

There is no such thing given to prey.

"Dead end..." Came a cold, distorted imatation of the mans voice. Before he had time to say anything, the Devil's wristblades had found thier way into his body, near the top of the chest cavity. With one mighty pull, the beast pulled the man's head from his shoulders, his spine trailing out behind it in a bloody trail. The hunter let out a roar of triumph, kicking the spasming body of the dead man aside as it scaled the dead-end wall and started its journey back to its campsite.

Within its camping grounds, its home on this hunt, it got to work cleaning the head and spine of its most recent kill. Using arcane tools, it removed all flesh, gristle, muscle, and blood. The bones were spotless after hours of cleaning. The predator nodded to itself as it put the skull upon the rack of other prey it had hunted over the aeons of its life. Seeing its prized Xenomorph Queen skull, it couldn't help but smile to itself. Only a few of its kind had gone into a hive alone, and returned alive with the skulls it had, and it made the hunter proud to be alive. Next to the queen's skull, there was one of its children, below that, there was a rack of human skulls. Taken only from the best warriors of the times it had come hunting. It ran its large fingers over the skulls absent-mindedly, before turning on its heel towards the cockpit of its home. It would return to this planet in a decade or so, looking for another hunt. But nothing would ever be like the hunt it had had, nearly five hundred years ago, in the summer of 2010...

So you thought you could betray my trust?
The day she died, I cared beyond belief,
I thought perhaps you cared for my trust?
I gave it to you believing in you...

Secretly savvy with the idea of hatred,
I turned and gave you something I've hated,
Something that I wish to take back,
Something that didn't end in endless black.

Again I feel the lurking uncertainty,
the red covered... rusted, knife in front of me,
Old memories are once again renewed,
and for you my audience to once again be viewed,

Don't turn your heads for you must watch and like,
The endless turning and screaming tonight,
This is a worm a wart of mankind,
and tonight I make him eternally blind.

The screams you hear are wretched indeed,
filled with pain and untold greed,
I shall tell you the story once upon a time,
but for that, I would need clever rhyme,

So I look upon my victims face,
and admire work such sweat such grace,
Endless is my attempt at perfection,
No blood on the ground no contradiction...

You see this folks the story unfolds!
The one of my friends for whom the bell now tolls!
I scream with anguish and laugh inside!
Inside a coffin he shall ride!
At my hand he does indeed perish,
And never happier have I been
I gave him something that I could have kept,
My trust... And now look at him.

The Rabble Rouser

The sun beat down heavy blows of heat upon the barren plain. A lone rider was trotting along. He was a medium-sized man of tan skin. One blue eye beset his head, the other long gone. The man clad in brown rawhide leather sat high on his horse, despite the growing thirst. He had on a rawhide jacket, rawhide chaps over blue denim jeans, and a pair of rawhide leather gloves. Rawhide was a durable material that was more than suitable for the rough work he did. He had on a dark brown cowboy hat. They were handy things that blocked the sun and were designed in a shape that allowed for water to run off the back. His red button up shirt was purely for decoration. It didn't really serve a purpose other than to keep the jacket from rubbing his skin raw. A .45 caliber Peacemaker was holstered on his right hip connected to a belt full of bullets. His Winchester rifle holstered in his saddle. He had another belt of bullets at an angle over his shoulder, filled with bullets for this rifle. None of this was helping to keep the heat off him. The heavy leather insulated the sunlight well in this barren terrain. Arizona was part of the new frontier. It was where sickos were sent when Hell was too cold for them. Kindness came about as rarely as water. Rumor was a town was up ahead some two days ride from the Navajo village he had just left. His entrance actually went smoother than he thought it would. He remembered it clearly.

The sun beat down heavy blows of heat upon the barren plain. A day just like the one he would face miles from the next town. The horse was stalwart in it's determination to trot along instead of run when they spotted the huts. A dehydrated Jack Ellworth was slumped over the horse's large neck. He didn't care about living at this point. The saddle had shook abruptly. Unseen hands were ripping him out of the saddle. Then he opened his eyes and spotted Navajo youth stealing his horse from him at the edge of town. His parched mouth managed to release one word. "Stay..." He commanded just loud enough for the mule to hear him. Jack slumped back on to the ground, staring up at that same damn sky that held that same damn sun. He listened as the Navajo kids tried their hardest to get the mule to move. The little red mule stood his ground. Rowdy was a good name for the hardworking animal. The boys were about to find out why the mule was named such.

One of them, Jack couldn't make out which one, must've jerked back on the reins and forced the bit against Rowdy's jaw, or one of them raised a hand at him. Either way, the mule went into a frenzy. It bucked around, causing chaos to everyone that wasn't dehydrated and lying on the ground dying. Jack listened as a boy screamed incoherent banter in Navajo while another was flung from the back of the horse. He listened as footsteps made their getaway. Jack sat up slightly. His eyes squinted open to see some other riders come out, then there was the image of Rowdy's large nose leaning over to him and gripping the collar of Jack's shirt with his mouth. The mule then began to drag him toward the settlment. He knew that people had water and water was what both of them needed. Jack was in no position to refuse the gesture. He listened as other Navajo came riding up on Mustangs. Rowdy dropped him back on to the ground. His head hit hard. The squinty-eyed vision he had was now blurred. Everything seemed like it was coming to a close for him. The end of Jack Ellworth drew nearer by the second until an Indian broke him out of the sweet release. He felt his boots being taken away, then his gun belt be loosened. Rowdy could be heard bucking and causing the same chaos as before. Jack's hat was now missing. It wouldn't be long till he was left naked in the desert. Luckily for him, the desert had a different plan in store for him. All went quiet and he could no longer hear what was going on as he slipped into darkness.

He woke up on the floor of a Navajo hut. Wet spots around his neck were evidence that the people here had been forcing water down his throat. He felt his boots, gun and jacket were missing. He looked up at the ceiling for awhile before noticing the silhouette of a man sitting next to him. He looked over at the old Navajo man who he assumed was the chief. He noticed two other men standing at the entrance to the hut. The old man's figure was thick, yet he was feeble. His face showed years of life and his eyes showed many years of wisdom. This was a fitting appearance for a Navajo chieftan. The man smiled at Jack, then spoke in a deep voice of undying strength. "Hello." He said in English.
Jack cleared his throat. It was still a little dry, but he assumed that they only wanted to keep him alive until they found purpose for him. He sat up, crossing his legs like the old Indian across from him. "You know my language." He said in Navajo.
The man's eyes widened along with his smile. "And you know mine," He replied in Navajo. "How is this?"
"Long story," He took a drink of the water they left for him, then continued. "You would die of old age before it was done." He joked.
The chief chuckled a bit. "Then it is best I not know." He lifted up a medicine pouch. It was Jack's medicine pouch. The contents was the herbs his chief had left for him before he left. They were good herbs he sometime put in his pipe when he couldn't stand the world around him. "Please tell me how you got this."
"The same way I got this." He gestured to his missing eye. A black eyepatch was over the blind eye. "I lived with a Navajo family for most of my life."
"Then, you are the man they call One-Eyed Jack?" The old man rubbed his chin. Jack nodded in response and the chief continued. "Your trade is a dark one. But, in this world I suppose it is a useful one."
"I am a hunter, just like you." He replied, staring into the man's eyes with his one good, blue eye.
"You hunt people, my friend." The chief laughed.
"Only the bad ones. When a wolf kills a cattle, is it best to leave it alone so it can wrong again?" Jack asked.
The chief nodded. "That is a dark way to think, but effective for your work."
Jack gave a solemn nod. "Do intend to sway me, or do you have some purpose for me?"
The chief shook his head. "It pains me to ask..." He looked down at the medicine bag. "My people need a man like you. Bandits keep striking. They take cattle and kill my people. I hear stories that they plan to drive us out soon. We can pay you--"
"Your people have nothing I need." Jack interrupted.
The chief glared at him, then continued. "We ask that you do this, to pay back the debt owed to your people."
Jack glared back at the old man. He didn't think the man knew about his village. There was no point in confronting him about it. Jack's eye twitched slightly, then he nodded. "Let us smoke, as thanks for saving my life."
The chief nodded, then the rest of the night was a blur of laughter and passing stories. The next morning Jack awoke fully clothed. He couldn't quite place the time he put his equipment on, but he climbed on his mule nonetheless and headed out.

Now two days later at what felt the same hour of day, he spotted a small group of black figures off in the distance. Jack tipped his brown hat at them and one of them returned the gesture. Bandits? This far from town? There must be a railroad nearby. Maybe he had caught them on their way to the Navajo village. No, there was only six of them. The Navajo village had much more than that. He looked over at the handle of his Winchester rifle that stuck out of the holster in the saddle. He felt for his Peacemaker's handle. There were six afterall. No, he couldn't take them on with the revolver like this. He was slightly dehydrated and the sun was shining in his one eye.

He sat there looking at them for a few minutes. Then, the bandits broke into a sprint towards him. Jack grabbed out his rifle and shouldered it. He leveled the barrel with the one in the middle. The one he assumed was their leader. The sun was still shining in his eye, but he could barely make out the figure. He pulled the trigger and watched as the man in the middle fell. He expected them to stop in their tracks. Picking someone off from that far away was a considerable feat, but the only response he got was a hail of gunfire. They were poor aims. Jack loaded another bullet into the chamber and shot the man to the left of his initial kill. There were four left and they were drawing closer by the second. He holstered the rifle. Rowdy took off toward them. Jack guieded the horse with his knees. He fired another round at a rider. The bullet hit the rider in the shoulder. It disabled any further attacks and forced the rider to turn back. The other man ducked down behind the neck of his horse firing a bullet from his revolver at Jack. At forty feet away, it was hard to miss. The bullet hit Jack's left arm. His arm fell limp, the full weight of the rifle was on his right arm. He didn't have a clear target at the rider, unless he waited for him to pass and risk a more lethal shot from him. Jack aimed the muzzle as best he could, shooting off a bullet into the horse. It connected with the front left shoulder. The horse went cartwheeling forward. When it stopped, the rider was pinned to the ground screaming.

Jack holstered the rifle. The fight was over. The one that got away was going to warn the others of him. There would probably be a few gunmen waiting for him at the town. He walked his horse over to the downed bandit. After that wreck, it was very likely his leg was broken. The bandit was frantic in his movements. He tried to free himself, glancing up at Jack to measure distance from them. Jack stopped the horse ten feet short of the man. He shook his head laughing. The man scrambled for his pistol in vain. Jack was much faster with his own revolver and shot the opposing weapon away. "Don't try that again." He ordered, aiming the gun at the bandit's head.
The bandit raised up his hands. "Don't shoot."
Jack smirked. "Give me a good reason not to, boy." He cocked back the hammer.
The bandit's voice came more frantic this time. "I'm mayor Weston's nephew." He pleaded.
Jack quirked a brow. He tilted his head slightly, but the gun remained stalwart. This was an odd twist. He had suspected some level of corruption in this next town, but the mayor's own relatives being bandits? "Interesting... what's your name?"
"R-Rob Weston." He stammered, careful not to shift around. He was deathly afraid of this death dealer on horseback. The dead horse on his most likely broken leg was the only thing stopping him from killing this man.
Jack chuckled to himself. He was in control of this situation. It was some bizarre twist of fate that of all the riders, he'd end up not killing this one... immediately. "Who was the man in the middle of your group?" Jack's questions might have seemed random, but he needed all sorts of miscellaneous information in this unknown area.
"My brother," Rob took a breath. His leg was throbbing now. "Ricky. The other riders were our friends."
Jack shook his head. This job was going to be easier than he thought. This mayor was sending kids to do his dirty work. "What's your father's name?"
"Richard Weston, brother of Earl Weston." He replied, then shifted uneasily from the pain.
"Rob, Ricky, Richard; your family got something with R's?" He smirked.
"Is there a point to this?" Rob didn't want to spend anymore time trapped under the horse.
"Humor me so I don't get bored and see how long it takes you to die with a hunting knife in your chest." Jack smiled back at the boy.

*This is called untitled for now...only because I did this in a very depressed mood.*
you don't know me,
no one does,
you all have this fantasy about
what and who you think I am,
well i'm not that person.
outside i put on this fake smile,
this fake personality,
it's not me,
it never will be.
inside i'm dying,
breaking down,
at night when no one hears,
i lie in bed and cry.
why do i feel like this?
i don't know.
i try to explain how i feel,
but you don't understand.
you don't know me.
no one does.

Why must everyone be so perfect?
So skinny and so pretty, so stereotyped
And so FAKE
Why must everyone have to have the perfect identity
and figure to be beautiful?
Why does this world have this one image we should all be?
Sheep aren't beautiful
Image hunters aren't pretty
People who are exactly the same aren't interesting
Beautiful people are people who embrace who they really are
and can see beyond looks
Peoples image comes from their heart - from the truth
And interesting people are individuals with real things
to say and beliefs of their own.

((Just a poem.. tell me if you like it domokun ))

The human falls on the cold concrete,
Her cold, glassy eyes looking up,
Perpetually horrified,
Gazing at her immortal killer,

He grins wolfishly,
Blood drips down a long canine tooth,
As he exits the alley,
No one the wiser,

Except one,
An ethereal woman who seems to appear out of nowhere,
Her soft eyes follow the retreating figure,
A bright with curiosity,

She follows him,
Intrigued with his dark demeanor,
Such a contrast of her own,
Like the different between the night and the morn,

But she is caught,
By the one she follows,
At first he is furious,
And yet,
He is intrigued with her happiness, Her glowing personality,

And as they spend more time together,
Something extraordinary happens,
They fall in love,
A dark and forbidden love,

Her, whose eyes are the gateways to a sanctuary,
While his are like the highways to hell,
Both so different, Both so unique,
Both immortal, Both in love with the other,

At first they hide their love successfully,
Their passion,
Their burning love for one another,

Her kind eventually finds out the truth,
And tells his kind,
Betraying her,

The next night she waits for her love and he does not come,
Not until morning did she hear,
That he was burned in the rising sun,
Left outside,
By his own kind, his blood,

Her people try to tell her it was for the best,
He was a demon, unworthy of her,
A misfit,

But she didn't hear,
Despair had overwhelmed her already broken heart,

And like a flower,
She withered,
And slowly,
Faded Away,

She was killed by nonacceptance,
Destroyed by her own people,
Tormented by a forbidden love.
