I used to bite and rip their heads off, throw them at my brother and his friends, cut off their hair, and do some other horrid things to them. xD I used to have a whole box. x3 Now they're now. D'= No more ripping their heads off.... Lol.

I played with them a lot when I was a kid.
I think the myth about Barbie being a reason for eating disorders is bullshit. At the age I was playing with Barbies [till about 10, but even at an older age I ocassionally bought one if I specially liked it! ] I didn't pay much attention to what my figure looks like and if it's thin enough. Neither I saw Barbie dolls as a moder for what my figure should look like, after all I knew she was just a doll and not a real person. I liked playing stories with them, sometimes also with a friends of mine. It was a lot of fun. I started obsessing over my figure only at the age of 14 and if I compared my body with someone then it were real people - class mates or sometimes models in magazines, actresses and such.
I think it's silly that Barbie dolls have such large boobs but other than that they're not harmful for girls. Barbie doesn't represent an airhead girl who just sits around and doesn't have a capacity for anything but cosmetics and clothes. She represent an active woman with tons of possibilities - she's been a performer in many different sports, doctor, musician and many other proffessions or hobbies that have nothing wrong with them.

i have hated them all my life. my mom used to tell me that when i was three and she carried me into the barbie aisle, i would scream bloody murder. you know what, it depends now. i have nightmares of going down that aisle, and every time i have to go there in real life, i get the urge to rip there heads off. but i don't want to pay for such a hideous creature!

First of all, Barbie is just a doll... nothing more or less. A lot of people have already posted that they wear too much pink. However, that's not the only color you could buy her in. The reason most of her outfits were pink is because young girls tend to be attracted to the color pink; I said most girls, not all. But the fact that most young girls like pink is definitely true, and has been proven. However, you can't deny that some girls tend to compare their own bodies to Barbie, and the shape of her body influences all woman; which is the reason why I don't like her. Not because she has large breasts, or wears too much pink, ect.

Also, in 1965, Mattel came out with a “Slumber Party Barbie” that came complete with a bathroom scale permanently set at 110 pounds. The doll also came with a book entitled How to Lose Weight. And inside this book it gave the advice: “Don’t Eat”. The matching Ken doll also came with slumber party accessories, but his were milk and cookies, sending a very different message. Pretty messed up, if you ask me.
