He wouldn't have appreciated a snuggling session anyway... that just.. wasn't Edward's thing. c_c; He was relieved when nobody followed him... for the most part anyway. The alchemist's brows knitting as he sat on the other side of the door, thinking for a moment. Perhaps it had been wrong of him to leave so suddenly, but he had to... he didn't feel comfortable staying... but why? Lifting his automail paw, he flexed the digits, listening to the faint sound of the synthetic muscles. He snorted faintly, wondering if he was jealous... and why should he be? Liliana and he were just friends, after all.. were they not? Its not like he had any romantic interests... what girl would want a two legged freak anyway? He rolled his eyes at himself, before turning to the door. He was a quick learner and seemingly had mastered the whole door concept.. as strange as it was. He wanted a more familiar surrounding and thus, opened the door again.. although this time it led to a different room. Not to the lab... that would be too obvious.. but instead into the 'automail room'... the recreation of Winry's living room and workshop. It was there that he found solace... and climbed onto the couch to curl up and eventually fall asleep again.

Hemi did not try to stop or follow the fullmetal. He suspected Lily would likely look for their live-in-guest after the other visitors went home. For Edward's sake, he hoped that timeframe would both give him enough time to think but not too much to brood. So he grinned in his easygoing way and ever-so-gently nudged Nahanni towards Atae & then both girls to where Endless and Lily were. "Reading pile is different than a full snuggle pile. Have to be careful of the books, you know, or Daddy & Lily have fits." Blue eyes grinned with laughter at the thought of Remus Lupin having anything even remotely resembling a fit as he tried to catch his sister's eye to share the joke.
He could see Liliana's gaze flicking between him & Endless from the corner of his eye. She was clearly doing her best not to make things awkward but so much of Liliana's actions were so casual & natural to her that now in trying to be 'normal' she was having to resist her natural inclination to curl against the nearest friendly warm body when reading or studying. Still she manged to lift a gold tipped paw to tap the first potion listed in the first chapter of the book, her voice carrying easily though not quite normal for her. "That one." She knew which one it was & where it was but her thoughts blurred slightly making everything just a little more difficult. "Daddy says Potions professors at Hogwarts have always started first years on it. At least as far as he knows. "
Nuzzling both girls lightly he gave them another nudge. "Pick a book and come over. Or share a book. It's like reading on warm moving cushions." Hemi teased with another endearing grin before trotting over to lean against Liliana. Her stiffness almost imediately relaxed & faded allowing the crimson femme to be more herself, evident in the way her head came closer to Endless' asshe lowered down to better read with him where he was in the book. Not to mention the return of her voice to almost normal. "Not a problem. We've everything with a useful magical property here, and I know Professor Snape keeps the potions storeroom well stocked at headquarters. I don't suggest that thought. He's meticulous about it, and doesn't like when ingredients go missing." Her body appeared to have pooled to the ground where she had been sittingas if all the energy she might have gained from her earlier nap was now gone and left her flagging.

Nahanni tilted an ear at the book question and pondered. "I suppose.....healing and fantasy books." That's all she managed to get out before Hemi nudged her forward to her older sister and Endless. She blinked and cast a glance at te book shelves, having no idea what to grab. Giving a sigh, she padded forward and tried to find something interesting. Did the reading pile require a certain topic? Shrugging, she reached out and snatched a book on spiritual and emotional energy.

Endless had to suppress a snicker at Hemi's overheard comment about Lily and her father and thier aversion to having the books damaged. It was more the way it was said than what was said, precisely, and he found Lily's devotion to reading endearing.
He looked a little closer at the potion list and then flipped to the indicated page. "I'd rather not use anything of his, really. I imagine he'd have something snarky to say about my interest in potions now, considering our first meeting. It's not my fault I didn't even really know what potions was even about then... Being that I'm not magically gifted and that was really the first time I'd heard about it. It's certainly different from slapping some herbs together for tea. Somehow I don't think he'd have even considered giving me lessons when I knew nothing about it and had barely even had time to think about it." He frowned slightly. "He sorta reminds me of my dad, in a way... only not the bad parts. The professor seems very driven and dedicated."
He shrugged, looking over the potion requirements again, and snorted in an amused tone. "I suppose I'll have to get help finding a cauldron and such too. Kitsyn's an odd one but she usually has things like rubberband guns stashed around, I don't think she has any cauldrons." He looked over at Atae, who grinned with him at the thought of the one that was probably their oddest housemate. And that was saying a lot, considering some of the residents.
Atae had followed Nahanni over. "I like fantasy books... I don't think I've ever read a healing book. Maybe I'll try one..." She peered at the many shelves and various book titles, looking about as lost as she felt. "Ah... any... suggestions?..."
She was going to try to keep her mind off of Edward and maybe make a new friend. Ed and Terasu were her only real friends outside of the house... well, and Lily, but they'd never had much of a chance to talk after that time they'd brought Ed over to fix his automail. The only other person she ever wanted to go see... well... he wasn't her friend as much as she was his, often as her thoughts seemed to stray to that silent shadow in the Mountain woods. He just didn't seem interested in friendship...
What was it with the people she wanted to spend time with not wanting to talk to her or making themselves very hard to find of late? She still didn't know where Terasu was, either... And she really needed to stop thinking about that before she put herself in a sad mood.

Liliana continued to lay as if spent, one paw sometimes moving like dreamwalking to tap or flip a page. She listened to Endless, a slight smile on her face reminiscing about learning potions with Remus from these very books as a kit. Funny how she could not find balance in the flow of thoughts in her head right now. "Daddy says that's how Severus is, that he's actually nicer than he was in their before. More tolerant." A subtle shrug of her shoulders, not much with Hemi leaning up under a wingtip with his head on hers as his blue eyes watched Endless with curious interest. "We should be lucky he didn't hex us or cancel my lessons." Another shrug. "My fault for not thinking beyond my comfort..." Green eyes widened and Liliana stiffened slightly before she averted her gaze to contemplate something her words invoked.
Sensing the shift in his sister and not wanting to alarm the male who loved her Hemi waved one light chocolate paw nonchalantly through the air over the red ear of his sister. "Nothing to a cauldron, End. You can have one of ours." That warm friendly grin.

Nahanni acknowlegded Atae while keeping her eyes trained on the books. Her siblings and Endless had already settled themselves in their own group. Where was her chair?..... Brown eyes flickered to the ground before giving Atae a default smile. "Yeah...I like fantasy more than healing books." She blinked when asked for a suggestion, and glanced at the large shelves. What was she supposed to choose? She ducked her ears shyly and gave another shrug, not knowing what to say.

Endless was busy flipping through the encyclopedia, looking up the ingredients mentioned in the first potion. That wasn't... so bad. He'd have to have someone show him what they were, of course, but that was to be expected, right?
Since he was near Lily, but not actually touching her nor her resident sibling, he didn't notice her odd action for having his nose once more stuck in a book. "Oh? Well... that'll make things easier." His diligence and distance was more for her sake than his own, in all honesty, figuring that if he kept himself distracted he could avoid doing anything less than ordinary to make Lily more uncomfortable. Though he had to admit it might be better that he wasn't actually in physical contact with her, he'd be too tempted to nuzzle or lick her to avoid the actions altogether and he felt that would definitely make both of them much more aware of the akwardness they were trying to ignore.
Atae watched the three for a moment after Nahanni's shrug and flopped into a half-laying, half-sitting position beside the teen. "It's just so... akward, isn't it?" She smiled slightly and looked around the room. "I think I'll just try... something at random? Maybe I'll find something new I'm interested in..."

Hemi silently watched all, wishing for once that he had Trelweny's knack of seeing into thoughts -but in a more controlled way. He wanted to know what they thought. Then he could tell Endless that maybe physical contact was what Liliana needed, or see if Lily was thinking what he thought she might be, or know better the right things to say to bring the two shy girls over to them, or see what was behind the body language of the fullmetal & know better why Edward left them. But he did not, so he could not.
Pulling out his wand -soft willow- Hemi pulled a book from the shelves, concentrating as it made its way over until he released it beside the potions books. He did not really look at it as he opened the cover and flipped to the first page. Bright blue eyes were on the others, yet again. "Lily'll teach you good, End. She's been deft explaining things I've missed to me."
The off hand compliment jarred the crimson femme enough from her thoughts to nod. "Yes. I'd still like to teach you, Endless. As long as you want to." There was a hint of a smile as her green eyes momentarily shifted to her friend once more. If she understood her feeling, if she could explain at all, Liliana would say that any awkwardness she felt came from looking into the uncharted waters of her own feelings and wanting Edward and Endless beside her while not knowing that was what she wanted nor how to make it so. The closest thing was a single gold tipped paw, reaching out to rest beside the starry male's. Casual. Waiting.

Nahanni chuckled nervously. "Yeah...awkward seems like the right word...." She blinked as a book removed itself from the shelf and floated to Hemi. Heh, so young and already doing such magic. Nahanni frowned and glanced back at the selection of books. She reached out for her own study book and set it in her lap, while waiting to see what Atae would do.

Endless looked at Lily for a moment and then smiled. "Of course I'd still like to. Just make sure I don't take up too much of your homework time or anything, ok? I don't want you getting in trouble because of me." He rested his paw atop hers for a moment, and then scooted the book around and himself after to go ahead and rest beside her. Lily was a toucher, after all. Just because he was a bit akward about being huggy was no reason to make himself unavailable for a hug if she needed one. "So, is there anything I need to know about it before hand, or it is more a learn-as-you-go thing?"
Atae peered at the bookshelf and finally just closed her eyes, walking along with one shoulder to the books until she stopped at random after a few steps and pulled a book down. She opened her eyes to look at it. Something about magical creatures? She tilted her head and then grinned slightly. "Well I guess there's bound to be something interesting in here..." She stepped back over by Nahanni and looked over to the others. "D'you think we should join them?"

Her slouch of drained energy relaxed into a more cofortable and easy pooling as the night-hued male came beside her. White gold wings pulled in slightly and lost their flopped possition, one drawing up closer to her back than the other so it would not be in Endless' way while the other curled gratefully around her brother. Hemi's smaller wings fluttered with inner amusement that also glinted in his baby blues. He inclined his head again to entice Nahanni & the pretty Atae (sure Nahanni was pretty too, but she was his sister!) to join them, knowing it would actually lessen the awkwardness. For Lily at least, and perhaps Endless though the teen could not know that for sure as most of what he knew about the male who loved his oldest sister came from Lily herself. Hemi did not know if it would be more awkward for Atae or not, having just met her, but as with Nahanni -and everyone he met for that matter- he believed that snuggling was the cure for all that ailed one.
It certainly seemed the case for Lily, as her head leaned the tiniest bit closer to Endless' to look over the book with a smile. "Oh, don't worry about my lessons. I won't mess them up. Besides, you're the one that said I needed to do other things." And with that she launched into explaining basic potions, letting Endless ask questions and providing answers as best she could.

Red tipped ears tilted at Atae's technique of choosing a book. Hmm, seemed interesting, to try your gut instinct and see what calls out to you. She smiled lightly and nodded at the belted female. "I'm sure....there are quite alot of interesting creatures." She hesitated at Atae's question and glanced at the group. Hemi seemed eager for them to join, what with his bright eyes and happy grin. Giving a sigh, Nahanni picked up her book and nodded to Atae. She padded forward and settled herself on the opposite end of the other three, though close enough to talk to.

Atae walked up between Nahanni and the larger group, looked back and forth between in mild confusion, and finally settled on flopping down between them. She flipped the book open and started scanning pages until she came across one about something called a hippogriff which she finally started reading. "Have any of you ever seen one of these... hippogriffs?" They sounded quite the curious sight.
Endless followed Lily's explanations, intergecting a question here and there and also reading part of the foreward in the potions book. It appeared to be a very precise science; more precise than he'd originally thought, but not necessarily any more complicated for it. It seemed odd to be applying the word science to magic, but potions was, for all intents and purposes, an alternate version of chemistry. "Anything in particular I need to be careful of dealing with in the first few?" Though he asked it as much to hear Lily talk some more as anything...

Hemi grinned ear to ear as his shy sister joined them. Even if it was appart from their 'pile' it was an improvement to her hiding under a chair. Then when Atae filled part of the gap she left his smile broadened. "Hippogriffs? No. Not me. There's a gryphon -G R Y P H O N" he spelled with a grin "Sterna, who you could say is house-family, but even then she's more like a griffon." Hemi looked thoughtfull, eyes scrunching in thought. "Daddy's seen one though. But in his before I think."
Nodding absently to Hemi's answer, Liliana kept her focus on the potions books. "Nothing too terrible. But I would feel better if when you start you did so here in our potions mixing room so that even if I can't b there there's others to call if there is an emergency." The tip of her ear flicked against Endless' head & she smiled, then filed the feeling for evaluation later.

Nahanni listened half-heartedly as the others talked of creatures and spells. A faint smile appeared at her brother's show of spelling skills. She glanced down at her own book and sighed, not really in the mood to read it. She had already gotten through a few chapters. Brown eyes flicked over to Endless and Lily before looking back down. That unknown emotion between them, if not very faintly, made her tummy tighten. She could almost recognize it, though not in this exact form. A closeness that confused her yet intriqued her. She...wanted to see a certain someone as well. Tails curled as she looked blankly to the door.
