A blank sort of mind is the perfect thing for someone too nervous and worried to do something otherwise. However, once Sere came back to reality and truly thought about what he'd just told her, he began to grow far more nervous than he'd ever felt in her presence. Earlier, he thought being able to release the feelings inside would be huge relief. Yet, he still doubted. He was still afraid. There was always that stinging reminder of his unlucky self.
The silence that fell between them made his mind reel with questions. What was she thinking? Did she feel the same? Was he foolish to think anything more of their relationship? And when he saw the tears, he wanted to cry, himself. A heavy something settled in the bottom of his stomach. He'd made Akari cry. His one most important person and he'd hurt her. The poor guy didn't even know how.
Amber eyes shone with worry. The shy, constantly apologizing self he'd tried so hard to supress fought its way back to the surface. His maw parted, a 'sorry' on the tip of his tongue, but then-
When he felt her weight against him, time seemed to stop. The heavy something in his stomach exploded into butterflies. A warmth spread through him in a flurry of emotion and relief. Maybe he wasn't so unlucky after all and maybe the things he'd felt so strongly for her weren't so strange. You did it, something told him. And happiness was just one of the many things overflowing in him at this point.
Of course, it didn't take long for him to realize he was just sitting there doing nothing. As if asking the trees what to do, he glanced around. Do something, he told himself. And so, he did what felt natural. He shifted ever so slightly, just so he could comfortably set his head near hers. Purring the tiniest bit, he nosed lovingly, albeit a bit sheepishly, behind her ear.

Sere's voice of comfort made Akari feel even more warm within. Comfort seemed so out of reach until now. Admittedly, there were times when even she, who always put on such a cheerful face got lonely. She had family...but they weren't the same. It wasn't anything like real family; just a big game of pretend. No matter how sincere she was, her feelings weren't always replied to. Yet sitting next to Sere was so much more different. He made her felt like she belonged...like she had belonged next to him all this time. That was the most assuring feeling she ever felt.
With his shy gestures, she eventually brought herself to calm down to just sniffling. Lifting up a paw, she brushed away any stray tears while sucking in a breath of fresh air. Along with it was the dark male's scent...it was like how she imagined home to smell like. Just a bit more friendly than home, though.
The pale blue kitsu slowly lifted her face away from the male, a soft smile on her face, "Sorry...I seemed to have gotten your fur yet," She chuckled nervously.

Right now might not have been the best time, but Sere couldn't help but laugh. It was funny, he thought. After all, their entire relationship had been spotted with his constant worrying and apologizing. It was strange to hear her apologize, just as it was when she'd apologized quite a while ago. Then again, maybe he just had a warped sense of humor. He blamed his upbringing, despite the fact that he would completely deny the fact if his father ever discovered these thoughts.
"It's okay," he replied sheepishly, hoping she wasn't upset that he'd laughed. "I don't mind." Amber eyes were cast away for the slightly of moments. "I'm sorry I made you cry," he muttered, a tad nervous. He certainly hadn't meant to make her upset, if that's what her tears meant. It was a confusing subject for him, yet, the warmth he felt at her touch and the air of understanding that surrounded them had been enough to assure him before.
Wrapping his tails tighter with hers, he let out a content sort of sigh. A mixture of happiness and sleepiness sat on his features. Who knew confessing your love could be so tiring? It didn't help that, though it wasn't as strong in him, he still carried a bit of his grandfather's 'sleepy gene.'

Her head tilted slightly wondering the cause of his laughter. Perhaps her teary face was amusing in his eyes? She had never really cried, after all. Not like this, anyway, and certainly not in front of Sere. Or maybe after the tears she had bits of soggy fur clinging to her face, making a weird looking face.
She shook her head lightly, "You don't have to apologize. Didn't I tell you that you don't have to constantly apologize? I wasn't crying because I was upset, it was because I was happy, silly." In her attempt to reassure him, she nuzzled him lightly, giving him another one of her signature smiles.
Her light blue tails lightly curled around Sere's once more as he sighed. Golden eyes gazed at him more closely now, taking in all his features and expressions. He definitely seemed content, at the very least. There was something else to it, though, but she couldn't quite place a paw on it.

Despite her words, crying out of happiness wasn't the most familiar thing to Sere. Still, he accepted her explaination with grace, deciding quickly that if she was happy, then he certainly was too, and there was no reason to question it. Of course, he couldn't stop the sheepish look that began to creep back to his features. "Sor-" he stopped. He'd been about to apologize for apologizing. Amber eyes flashed around the area, looking for something he could mention, perhaps there was something he could use to distract her from his almost-sorry. Then he felt her nuzzle and looked back to her, shivering at the smile, even though it spread familiar warmth through him.
He smiled back, noting that she seemed to be studying him now. Not that he minded, as he canted his head. There just wasn't anything so interesting about him, he believed, that would warrant such close inspection. Leaning forward, he meant to nuzzle against her, yet he stopped mid-movement. Eyes narrowed. Then, unable to keep control, his maw stretched in a yawn. Shaking his head, he blinked slightly watery eyes, looking at her with a bit of a comical expression.
"I'm glad you're happy," he muttered in late responce, grinning in that same sort of comical way as he moved in to really nuzzle her this time. "I'm happy, too," he continued, head coming to a rest above her shoulder. His eyes tried to focus on some plantlife over her shoulder, but it had grown so dark that he couldn't make out anything more than blobs. The sun had set without his notice. He'd been too wrapped up in thinking of Akari. He shut his eyes, smiling lightly to himself as he leaned a little more into her. He didn't mind missing that sunset in the least.
