Weren't words supposed to be answers? What was the point of talking if you weren't either asking something or answering something? Bah, sometimes Harij figured his parents had just put him in a hole for way too long.
"Oh.. well... I'm sorry?" There, that ought to do it well enough for this round.
The higher they got the more Harij's thick coat seemed to stand on edge. He had never minded heights before, maybe it was just how quickly it felt like they were going up.

((Gah!! I meant to say question....must've been half dead when I typed that up. sweatdrop ))
Ahote giggled yet again. Harij seemed uncomfortable with speaking and maybe the whole socializing thing. Perhaps Ahote's giggling wasn't helping, but he didn't really think about it. He wasn't laughing at Harij in a demeaning way, but he was really enjoying his company.
"You don't have to apologize. You didn't do anything wrong!"
As they continued to climb, they reached a small plateau. He stopped there for a while, resting a bit himself, and making sure Harij was still with him. He also wanted to make sure that he still wanted to climb.
"So do you like the mountains yet?"

Were stallions supposed to giggle? Hmm, someday Harij would find someone that would answer all of his questions without a second thought. Most people would probably laugh at least that’s what he figured. The laughter didn’t bother him, nothing had been offensive so far.
“Oh.. Well I am glad then. I don’t ever try to offend.”
The plateau and the slight stopped definitely were needed so that he didn’t just go crazy and run right back down the mountains. This place was rather lovely, but did why was the altitude giving him such problems? Was he weird like that?
“They are lovely.. But I do not know much yet.”

Ahote moved towards the edge of the plateau, looking out over the land below. It always amazed him how small things looked from up here.
"They really are pretty! I'm glad you think so. But hey, if you have any questions about what its like up here, you can ask me, ya know? I know a lot about living up here."
He smiled and looked up the mountain again, tracing another path that he would lead Harij along.
"Ready to go? Or do you want to rest some more?"

Yes, things were looking rather small from this height, and from up here Harij almost felt like he should either be very out of place or very much at home. Right now it was a mix of the two.. kinda torn.
"Oh yes... thank you.. I'll be sure to let you know if and when I think of anything that I have to know before we move on." The sentance had flown freely from his lips. Talking was getting easier as he got to know someone. It didn't hurt that they were along.
"Uhh.. we can go whenever you're ready." This plateau was so lovely, if nohing else he would come here to visit.
Putting his head down and beginning to get his body ready for more of a climb, Harij didn't bother with more words for now. The slope was getting steeper or he was just having a harder time with breathing.. Weird.

As Harij gave the ok to keep going, Ahote looked back up the mountain, retracing the path he had picked out, just to double-check. He soon hopped to a start, trotting up the hillside, that was now becoming rather rocky.
"The rocks get a little slippery sometimes. Just make sure your feet feel like they won't slip before you step up to the next one. Its a hard fall."
He thought that Harij was capable of making the climb, but he wanted to make sure that he knew that it could be dangerous sometimes. He would hate to see the stallion get hurt.

Harij nodded quickly and kept himself calm. They'd have another long while most likely before they got to wherever they were headed to. He shook at his mane, letting the heat that had gottne trapped under it escape. Yes.. this was certainly interesting.
"Good to know. I will make sure to be careful of where I allow my hooves to rest and where I put my weight." Something was making him a bit paranoid, but the plucky stallion made him feel more at him.
If Ahote could do it, then so could he. Danger was something that most stallions would never dance away from, for him it was just a useless behavior. Rather distasteful too.

After a while of silent climbing, which was a bit of an accomplishment for the talkative pony, they finally reached another landing. This time, the peak of the mountain could be seen from where they stood. As he walked towards the middle of the plateau, he turned and looked at Harij, a smile on his face.
"Isn't this great? Look at all the things you can see!"
He turned back to face the land that opened up before them. They could see for miles, vast plains stretching out before them, distant mountain ranges, sparkling bodies of water, and massive forrests. This was why Ahote loved it up here. Being so small, it was an amazing feeling when he could see so much.

Harij’s ears were rather pleased with the fact that they had some silence for a bit of a climb. Not that he didn’t like talking, it was just something he didn’t pull off with much finesse. In fact, communicating without too much talking was something the he preferred over jabbering away the day.
“Yes.. It’s rather beautiful from up here.” And it was.
The view before Harij made the slight fear that climbing had held for him seem to melt into the perfect surroundings. Greens melded with each other and the water seemed to be sparkling. Even meadows held a certain charm. Down below even certain grey-black things could be seen, they were Soquilis and a few shadows in the air, probably Winds.

Ahote smiled as he watched Harij take in the view from the top of the mountain. He had had a feeling that the stallion would like it up here. Well, who wouldn't, with such an awesome view?
He turned back to the open side of the plateau, and walked forward a bit, stopping a few feet before he reached the edge of the cliffs. He sighed and scanned the landscape below him. He, too, saw the shadows below, and smiled.
"I really love it up here. Its one of my favourite places."
He wasn't really talking to Harij. Just kind of....to the world.

The view itself was very breath-taking, but what does one do up in the world after they’ve stood for a long time and drunk their fill of looking down below? Would it ever become boring to him?
Harij shifted a bit when Ahote did so he could pay attention to where the pony went to. No way was he interested in getting lost up here. Of course, going down would probably be easier just making sure that his footing was good all the way.
“Yes.. I can certainly see why.”
For once speaking wasn’t hard, because the answer was so obvious.

As Ahote lay in the grass, looking out over the vast landscape before him, he turned his head to look at Harij. He looked a little uncomfortable, or perhaps he was just thinking things over.
"Do you wanna go down yet? We can if you want."
He stood up and took a few steps towards Harij, letting him take his time. There was no rush at all. And if anybody was in a rush to get down the mountain, chances were that they'd probably slip and get hurt. So it was best to take one's time.

Harij grinned and let loose for a moment before he straightened himself up. The little pony had made him feel at home with ap lace and yet he wasn’t sure if this was his home to be.. He’d think about it.
“Sure, let’s head back on down then.”
They wouldn’t have to hurry on the way back down, he liked this place but it was several days away from Aely. Would she mind if he began to disappear more and more.. The fragile girl seemed to need the extra time. Decisions, decisions.

The pony's face lit up as he saw Harij smile for the first time. It was gone quickly, though. But oh well. It was nice to see a smile out of him, no matter how long it lasted.
He nodded a bit and walked bast Harij, to start making their way down. He heard as a few birds in the trees above scattered. He looked up to see them fly away.
"I wish I could fly. It looks like a lot of fun. Shikoba can fly. He's got feathery wings just like the birds."
Ahote didn't stop to think that Harij wouldn't know who Shikoba was. He was just rambling anyways.

Harij flicked an eye towards the pony. For a moment the little one had seemed excited, but it had faded a bit. Perhaps the site of an unusual animal had come and gone.
Following along behind the pony, the stallion’s eyes went to the birds who had startled and taken off in such a hurry and huff. What odd creatures.
“Shikoba, hm?” The idea of flying was something that Harij didn’t particularly want, “I believe I prefer my legs to flying.”
Ahote was indeed correct. Harij didn’t have a single idea who Shikoba was, but he’d probably find out sometime before they made it back down to the base of the mountain.
