Because she's crazy and childish. Who doesn't love her? And a techie, who understands technology a little too well... I'm half Irish and half Scottish, at least that's what I'm told... I know I have some other things, but my parents were just of the two. My dad's prominently Irish and drinks alot in the evenings, and can hold it rather well. My mom's prominently Scottish, so...

Short-lin's like 3/4 Irish and the doctors said he had a liver about a foot long... I'd like to see some x-rays on that, but I wouldn't doubt it.

A foot long liver... That is amazing...

Yeah, we pick on him all the time. You know how they say that really short people have belligerent attitudes? Short-lin would be the idol of all short people. He knows how bring Ian (the giant) down to the ground and choke him. He's done it before. He is amazing, but as a blonde he has his moments... xd we still pick on him for the experiment he pulled involving a .22 caliber pistol and standing atop his grandparent's garage.

Do I really want to know the rest of that story... Yes, yes I do.

Okay, so we got into a debate about how if you fired a bullet, and a (possibly seperate) casing shell fell at the exact moment it fired, they would hit the ground at the same time. We left out the variable that the bullet had to be fired parallel to the ground for this experiment, and Short-lin was one of the kids arguing against this. So, to prove this wrong, he got a bunch of empty shells and a clip full of .22 rounds and fired into the ground while dropping shells from the roof of a garage. He comes back to school, trying to prove to our science teacher that she's wrong, and proves that he's a fool because he did it wrong. xd

(James argued against it, too, thinking that aerodynamics of the bullet would keep it up. I told him that a bullet falls 9.98m/ss, no matter what and we had a fun little debate over that. I won.)

Congratulations on winning, what fun. I always like proving people wrong, it makes me very happy. Of course it is never science related because I am no good at science. Not that I don't try, I am just not good at it.

Me too. It leaves a superior feeling that makes me smile. I know almost nothing about pop culture, and my friends stare at me like I'm from another world when I ask about, or say something. ... Meanies stare I laugh at them and their computer problems. ninja And when they know almost nothing about weapons.
PostPosted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 2:59 pm

I don't think a huge number of people know about weapons... I was usually the person people go to with computer problems, but I'm not really sure what they think I can do for them. Sometimes I can help them, but even when I can't they come back and ask me again the next time they have a problem. I really don't get it...

I'm not a pop culture fanatic, but I do know a bit of what is going on. Of course most of my references are rather old... Just gotta go with what works.

Humans believe what they're told, and most of the time it's because no-one wants to take the time to research about it. 3nodding Oh well. I just love rifles, and it's about time I get my own. biggrin Well, okay, but a .22 doesn't count as a firearm to me, more like a child's toy... a .410 gauge shotgun it about as low as I'll go for calling them firearms. I also have a fifty caliber black powder twisted I saw a ten-guage shotgun when I was at Sportsman's Den, and it was really cool looking, too. That's a man's weapon, right there.

A ten guage... is a HUGE shotgun. Biggest ever made is an eight guage, and twelve guages are the largest caliber still in production. the larger the guage number, the smaller the barrel. So a 20 guage is much smaller than a 12 guage. However, a .410 guage is based on inches and not guage, so it's not the size of a rocket launcher... more like a rifle without rifled bullets... ... get it? sweatdrop

As much as I can, but I do understand a bit more than I did before. Thanks.

As for rifled bullets (the ones with tips) there are prominently two types: the 5.56mm, standardized and used commonly in American+Allies weapons. Then there is the 7.56mm, used by the Chinese, Arabian and allied nations (like North Korea). Those are the main two types.

.17 and .22 are very small bullets for very small guns.

When it comes to pistols, it varies a bit. 9mm parabellum rounds are the most common type. .35 is what is used in a good portion of revolvers and .45 and .50 rounds are for magnums. That's enough to take off a limb in about two shots. Or stop a man in a dead sprint. They're very powerful rounds. The military switched from 9mm to .45 for this sole reason.

SMG's fire 9mm rounds, mostly.

Sniper rifles have their own type of ammunition, well, most times they do. They normally take a heavier bullet, with more powder and a longer tip. Anti-material rounds are huge. Think anti-aircraft rounds. Well, maybe not that big, but that's the idea.

I hope that help explains a bit more in-depth. 3nodding

Not really sweatdrop that's just some basic stuff there. Now when you know the exact ingredients required and how to make home-made gunpowder, it's helpful. 3nodding
