The boy's response disturbed Draco slightly and threw him off his train of thought. "What is he doing? His hair, I mean?" the young man asked.

Harry looked down at Teddy, who was laughing in Harry's arms, quite oblivious to the seriosu conversation being held around him.
"He's a Metamorphamagnus," Harry said with a shrug, "So was his mother. Andromeda said it was normal for them to imitate the appeareance of whoever they were around as infants."

Draco smiled slightly, "So he imitates me?" the young man replied. "Interesting... but anyway, if you'll be at the trial, Potter, can I at least count on you to impress the good things over the bad?" Malfoy asked. "As the favor, I mean."

Harry shrugged again, "He imitates Krecher, too, sometimes."
As if to emphasize Harry's pint (or perhaps the child had recognized the name) Teddy's ears reverted back to looking almost exactly like the old houselfs. The ears combined with Draco's hair and eyes was quite comical and Harry had to press his lips together to keep from laughing.
"I told you, I've seen your father do horrible things," Harry said with a sigh, "I won't gloss over that. But I am going to mention that Lucius began to turn away from Voldemort near the end, or at the very elast seemed determined to save his son, whatever the personal cost."

"I suppose I couldn't have expected more then that." Draco replied, moving around the table and toward the door. "I'll see you at the Ministry tomorrow I expect."

Harry nodded, his bright green eyes never leaving Draco's pale ones.
"I suppose I will then," Harry said dully. The aftermath of war was never quite as simple as children's fairy-tales said.

Draco nodded in reply. "Then I'll see you tomorrow, Potter." he stopped in the kitchen doorway however. Glancing back to Harry, Draco looked quite uncomfortable. "Thanks, by the way." the young man said. "For saving Goyle and I, that is." And without another word, Malfoy proceeded toward the front door.

Harry nodded solemly. "I'm sorry about Crabbe." Even if the boy had tried to kill them all, he had been a friend of Draco's once.
"I'll see you tommorow."

Stopping once more, Draco turned to look at Harry. "It was his own fault. He couldn't handle the spell." Malfoy smirked, but there was no humor there, only an anger and a sadness. "Served the stupid git right." the young man said before heading out the door and shutting it behind him. Once on the sidewalk, Draco stopped. He turned, glancing up at No. 12 Grimmauld Place. Without a second's hesitation, Malfoy apparated back home.

Harry sighed and looked down at Teddy, who has fallen alseep in his arms, his hair reverting back to it's most common bright tourquoise.
It had been an ugly, gruesome war, and had torn apart the lives of countless people. The Weasley's, Tonk's family, even the likes of Draco Malfoy. Defeating Voldemort was just the begining. Now everyone had to put their lives back together again.

June 5th, 1998
Eighteen... Never thought I'd live to eighteen. What with the past year and everything that's happened... Mother and Father have their trials tomorrow at the Ministry. They've decided to allow me into the Ministry, but not the trial itself. Bloody gits. It's my family on the line, after all! Potter will be there, naturally. He'd better not make light the good things, or at least neutral things my parents have done. I'll be finally getting my wand back, that's a relief. Potter's got a kid, by the way. Not his. Nymphadora's actually. A part of me wishes I could have known her. Then again, I'd probably have wound up dead just the same.
Draco Malfoy
~~~
Sighing, Malfoy put down his quill and looked to the large living room hearth. A fire was burning there, not very big nor bright, but it was the best the young man could do given the circumstances. The Malfoy fortune was not accessible and without his wand, Draco had been forced to reduce himself to making a fire the old fashioned way. Sadly, it was also the Muggle way. He reached to his side, a glass of water sitting on the table. After taking a few sips, Draco's grey eyes became fixed fast on the flames. Malfoy watched them dance, leaning back in the comfortable chair. He was home. And yet... Home wasn't anything how he had ever known it. Quiet. Empty. Without his parents, it really wasn't home at all. Just a house. And without the respect that the name of Malfoy used to command... Draco was just another wizard.
Harry finally put Teddy to bed. He himself did nto go to bed, but went into Sirius' room, and stared at all the pictures that hung over the walls, thinking abotu what the War had cots and what it continued to cost.
Draco and his father had both been Death Eaters...but they hadn't foudn the life at Voldemort's side as desirable as it had first seemed. Snape had been a Death Eater as well, and yet Harry was fighting to protect the man's reputation after his death...he had been a good man, deep down. Perhaps the same could be said of the Malfoys...until Luciius' laughing face as Harry was being toturted by Voldemort in the graveyward came into veiw....
When Draco woke, he was wrapped in a thick blanket, still sitting in one of the large chairs before the fireplace. The fire however, had long ago ceased to burn. Yawning, the young man clutched the blanket tighter around him as a chill swept through his body. A chill that made no sense in the summer heat. Malfoy stood, keeping the blanket around his shoulders as he moved toward the kitchen... and promptly banged his foot on a nearby table. "Bloody..." Draco whispered angrily, shaking his bruised foot slightly. 'Bloody five in the morning... can't see a damned thing...' he thought to himself, using his hands to feel along the wall and furniture until he had it to the kitchen. Draco threw open the curtains, allowing moonlight and the faint trails of sunrise to seep in.
Harry only manged a few hours of sleep before he, too, was awakened. Teddy was crying in his crib,. He probably need to be fed or changed or maybe just held. Either way, Teddy was up and that meant Harry ahd to get up as well.
Groggily Harry puled himself up from his bed and walked into the nursery, picking the baby up and rocking him gently in his arms.
"Couldn't wait until Grandma got here, eh?" he asked sleepily.
It took Malfoy about an hour to make himself presentable... and that was after he fixed a breakfast by hand. Honestly, the young man had no idea how Muggles did it. By the time Draco was ready to head to the Ministry of Magic, it was already 8am, and his parent's trial was promptly at 9am.
