I've tried to get one a few times, but I have no idea how. I go to a vacant spot, and I don't see what I'm supposed to do to make it mine. I think I have a permit and everything, but still no luck.

From what I gathered, if it shows up on the block summery but you can't see it when you're actually there, the block is reserved. It's only supposed to be reserved for 24 hours but I don't think that's what's actually happening. Unless some people have been coming back every 24 hours and reserving it over and over...for the past 2 years. neutral

If they are....Wow, that's dedication (or greed, either one)... sweatdrop

I'm pretty sure you can only reserve the same spot once... but I could be wrong. I usually am. xp

I am online at almost 5 in the morning just to remind you peoples that I probably won't be here for two weeks, starting today. I'm off on a Gibsons vacation.

If the opportunity presents itself, I'll drop in; it really all depends on if there's wireless internets.

If not, then I'll see ya'lls in a couple weeks.

So, Canada. How are we all tonight?

I'm great. Just dandy.

So today I spent two hours at the beach. It was wet, rainy, muggy, and a plethora of other adjectives. A great time anyway. Oh yes.
There's nothing like a freshly washed out ravine that's only slightly less steep than a sheer cliff face, with the mud that you're walking on as consistent as soup. It's great to have to climb down it, with a river washing it out even more with every step you take. Even better when you're carrying a huge load of s**t on your back. I'm telling you, it was the perfect way to spend the sunday afternoon.

And the best part is that I get to do it all week! Because we're starting a fossil dig at Wasson's Bluff, which is a section of beach not far from where I live, Parrsboro. They've found quite a few dinosaurs there and we're going back for more this week. So I get to be on the Nature of Things, digging mud. In the fog and rain. It's going to be great.

The worst part is that I have to be there at 8 in the morning. Everyday. Presumably all day. But hopefully not all day. That would suck.
And not only that but I have to apparently take the pictures, and keep the website updated every day too.
Don't know how I'm going to pull that off. But we'll see.

Don't worry though, I'll keep you all updated as I'm sure you're all anxious to hear the details!

Woah. Well... have fun. If possible. We're having a heat wave in Vancouver, but it's breezy by the ocean.

Don't worry, I won't forget all the people I stepped over to get to where I am today!

No, I'm not going to be famous. Not yet anyway.

I have no idea when this episode is going to air. They haven't filmed the part that I'm going to be in yet.

Today was better than yesterday at least. Wasn't raining as much, and we didn't bother taking the steep muddy ravine down to the beach. We took the long way around, which may or may not have been shorter.
I still go pretty dirty though. There was mud everywhere. Still is, because I forgot to have a shower. Not that I'm wearing the same clothes or anything, of course.
I'm all sore though. There was a lot of shoveling today. A lot, a lot. Like, first we were digging random holes along the beach to figure out where this 200 million year old lake bed used to be. There's a line where the sandstone and mudstone are divided, and the dinosaur bones will be found along this line, apparently. So we were trying to find this line. That took awhile. Then when we found a good spot, we dug a huge trench, from the water, up to the cliff face. It was pretty long. Not super deep though.

After that we dug some more holes. Then we decided we'd let a stream do the work for us, so we blocked off all these different paths so that the water would all flow into one channel. So that it would erode down to the layer of sandstone/mudstone. That took a lot of work.

Then we were at the actual fossil site, and we were starting to dig that, but then we were at the end of the day. There's a lot of dirt. A huge amount. We're getting a small excavator to come in and remove as much as possible. Should save a lot of time.
